Yes, Iowa will compete for a CFP spot because of how much they return from a generational defense, the fact that their offense should improve, and their schedule is easy. As of now, I do have the Hawkeyes in the CFP, along with four other Big Ten teams (the four favorites to win the conference).
i just looked at Northwestern's schedule. they could easily win 6 or more games this year. i see two losses and possible two more losses. {iowa and wisconsin} the other eight games Northwestern can win. i don't know the roster of Northwestern but Duke might be the next hardest game. nobody know how Illinois, Washington, Indiana, Maryland and Purdue is going to be. Northwestern with luck could go 6-0 to start, depends on Duke game. but with this schedule, its hard for me to see Northwestern not with 6 wins.
B10 is a business, I wouldn't be surprised if they kept acquiring schools and replaced the NCAA themselves. The "10" in B10 would be the ten conferences they acquired. Yes, SEC would join if B10 was in charge of the rest of college football but they would remain the SEC under the B10 division
The only way a 20-team conference works is with 4 divisions of 5 teams each. Then you can schedule by playing one other division each year as well as your own every year - that solves the tiebreaker dilemma as well as not going too long without playing other major school. And you won’t lose the non-conference games. Then the big 10 title game is determined by the top 2 division winners, and the other 2 division winners still get automatic bids to the playoff as lower seeds. That’s probably the easiest way to do it but it would probably never happen
I can get behind this model. The only problem I see is whether the playoff committee would agree to entering the 3rd and 4th division leaders automatically.
@@SamuelBradstreet it would be blatant favoritism. I think the current power 4 would have to condense to the power 2, and have 2 huge conferences that mirror the NFC and AFC and let division winners in that way.
4, 5 team divisions with scheduling similar to that of the NFL. You play every team in your division and another division (rotational yearly) and team(s) from the other division(s) based on where everyone finished the year before. Don't want to hear complaints about conference "playoff" games. Cut an out of conference game if you have to. If you can make some of these teams play an extra two games in the CFP, you can't convince me adding a 3rd is above the pale.
On Phil's Playoff prediction, if the big 10 gets 5 teams in and the SEC only gets 3. The SEC will go ballistic and threaten to break away and do their own thing regardless of what the teams resumes are
If the number is 20 the answer should be 4 five team pods the rotate amongst themselves every three years… Also, B1G should look to poach Texas A&M who will be looking to leave SEC once they’re in Longhorns shadow again…
I don't like how these conferences are being merged like this. The way they are paying these players to play for these schools is disgusting. It's worse than the free agent market in the NFL. It has destroyed college football. Only the teams with the biggest fan bases with the most money are the ones that's gonna be in the playoffs every year and win their conferences. Mid-size to smaller schools will never win conference titles, let alone go to the playoffs.
i don't like the idea of two 10 team divisions. i'm working my way through seeing the Buckeyes play in every big 10 stadium, and that won't happen without cross-over games.
8:40 - IF OLINE - NewMexSt - that’s Moore fireable offense. Better not be worse than 3 maybe 4 in great year for other B1G lines. 2’s behind THOSE 1’s better be 1.5’s and improving. QB OLINE Campbell Moore really need to demonstrate their value in delivering at least “very good” from both.
Your new East and West divisions are absolutely terrible. The West once again would be wayyyyy easier than the East. I hope they wouldn’t do THOSE East and West divisions like yours, IF they add FSU and Miami.
Lol, Phil Steele. Not only is there a 70% chance but statistically, there is a 100% chance that Michigan has the same or worse record than last year given that they went 15-0.
2 10 team divisions doesn't work for me, feels like 2 separate conferences not 2 divisions... 4 divisions of 5 or 6 teams would work, play your division plus rotate 1 other division each year. Play every team in the conference in a 3 year period.
LMAO........NO. Iowa no longer has the protection of the BIG west. Looking forward to Ferentz leaving to spend more time w his family soon. Over Rated.
Did you look at their schedule? They only need to improve marginally (like to the 80s or 90s instead of 130s) on offense to have a chance at 10-2 or 11-1.

What a joke
No way-5 teams come on man
Cade will be healthy and he will give Iowa one thing they haven't had . . . an offense.
Maybe-still need WR's and RB's
Cade is a game manager. Average QB.
He won't make it through 5 games
How Phil has Ohio State. Having a number 1 defensive line over Michigan is the definition of bias

I preferred Steve's voice acting for the intro.
Offense will be just as bad as last season. No chance
I highly doubt UM's offensive line is going to take much of a step back if at all. Hopefully 1-2 more RBs step up in the offense.
