- After King Solomon's reign and death, the nation of Israel went on a spiritual roller coaster ride that ended with the division of the kingdom and the people's exile. From the temple's building to its decline and destruction, we see a parallel to 1 and 2 Kings from a spiritual viewpoint.
This teaching is from our series The Bible from 30,000 Feet - 2018 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.
Pastor, as a teen in high school, I became a Christian and many other teens did also (I’m in my 50s now). At lunch, we would meet and praise God in a portable building. We also studied the Bible. Once when praising God, we all saw a mist , a cloud enter the room. I believe that we were purely, honestly praising God. Only later, I saw that this was consistent with the Bible. I never saw it again. It is not something that I would try to make happen again, however we believe that at that time the presence of God was there. I would not despise this.

I like the fact that at 26 minutes you mentioned some pastors touch or push people to fall and blamed the holy spirit .. blessings from Jamaica 🇯🇲

I’am sorry to hear a pastor attack each other about the Holy Spirit And How He Works. If you don’t know and have not experienced something it’s best we don’t say anything less we cause unbelievers to tumble. I don’t believe in pushing people down but I have experience the Spirit and Power Of God Of The Holy Sprit that really put me on the floor without anyone even touching me and that could not have been the devil, But I do love this man teaching.

1000% his heart is not in the right place. It's hardened which is why he has not experienced it. His pride and intellectual prowess has blocked him from it..his willingness to almost mock the holy spirit is very dangerous. Teaching does not mean you know God. Fruit of the Spirit does..
Anyone that says "I see no benifits from it" has clearly never once been in the glory cloud of God..where you couldn't speak English if you even tried to. Or even speak at all..
This shows you.. you can know scripture all you want and be a great teacher but unless you are filled with the holy ghost there is no power.. there is no benifit..it makes him just a great history professor of the scriptures..a great story teller..its like someone who studied to be a jet pilot. Knows all about the wars.. the planes capability but when it comes to jet fuel and flight.. there is no use for it.
Carnal knowledge keeps you from the spirit he is unfamiliar with.. pray earnestly for him

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

The temple must have been a magnificent sight to behold - imagine how glorious God’s temple in heaven is! The design for the temple actually came from God who gave it to David who then passed it on to Solomon. But then because of their idolatry, God allows the Babylonians to destroy it and the entire city of Jerusalem in 586 BC. The first commandment is supreme in God’s law and His judgement always falls on those who break it - whether it be nations or individuals.

I fully believe that there will be an event in this man's life. This event will humble him and bring him to a place where he is finally able to place his intellect and pride to the side. And I believe that God will fully envelop him into this cloud. He will be incapable of speaking English. He will preach of nothing except for the fullness of the spirit from that day forward in Jesus name.

I love your lessons, Pastor Heitzig, they are an excellent resource for anyone interested in learning about the Bible says, but, and I say this with the true love of Christ in my heart, please stop paraphrasing the God-breathed Word of Life like it's some new pop-culture fad that without your adaptations might fall on deaf ears because respectfully, it's so very....sacreligious to say something like: God says, "I'm gonna do you a solid." It is truly irreverant at times how you relay the actual script that was written in the Bible. The language of the KJV though difficult is beautiful, the NKJV modernizes it enough by removing the syllabic breaks in the names of people and places and made it more readable. The NIV I hear is as close to the Greek as you can get when looking at the NT but lacks a great deal that the NKJV offers but to offer the KJV version and then explaining it using one of the others that offer the best translations or transliterations...
And people can restrain themselves from the ugligness that undoubtedly arises when seeing a seeming critizism of their leader but we are instructed in the Word to confront such as this and more but it is off-putting, alienating, and offensive at times to be honest to hear the paraphrasing our beloved pastor offers. THE WORD STANDS ONN ITS OWN. There is no need to "doctor it up" to think it will appeal to the masses. I assure you, it does not. If it does appeal to anyone, I apologize, I'm not speaking for you, though. I'm in the over 40s club and there are more people who might come across this just due to the range between 40 and 100 and what might be this pastor's target audience. However, there should be no "target" audience in the church. ALL who come ought to feel welcome and not just those 12-39 years old. There's twice the possible populous in my age group than the other so feeling it exclusive to just those who would need help with thee's and thou's; it also deprives those trying to understand such as the KJV of doing so since there's hardly a comparison to be made. There is no Bible that says, "And God says, I'll do you one better, I'll do you a solid", period. Not to mention one is not supposed to add to or take from the Word of God, says God hiself in His Word.

Sounds like someone who has not experienced the baptism of the Holy ghost. Who is trying to twist the scripture. If you were ever baptized in the holy ghost you would understand what that means..it does not make you any less of a Christian but you for.sure shouldn't twist scripture brother..the cloud isn't smoke it is all enveloping..in it'd fullness you are unable to stand..I have only seen it a few times in my life and 2 things happened #1 everyone was on thier face..#2 I watched blind eyes open..please allow the power of God to be larger than your intellectual prowess and theological studies brother.
Any man that adds words to the scripture and pushes his opinion and not the scripture you must cease to listen to. Its dangerous as such men can be easily manipulated by a religious entity sent to mock the holy spirit and rob people of the truth..sad.. i.pray for you brother.
Post WW2 for who? Not people of color, I listen to Skip everyday and enjoy it but there are alot of cultural clueless or might just be unaware

Well,,,, I just spent hours studying your explanations of 1st and then 1/2 through 2nd Chronicals and have now stopped as you seem to be making fun of us that have been and/or have seen people being slane in the Spirit. You sir are wrong as it has happened to me and I have never been pushed gently or otherwise. I sign off now wishing I had not spent so many hours with you......
