  • The RS 2 fly or Ray's Semblance 2 is, in my humble opinion, one of the best fishing flies ever designed. If you haven't fished with the RS 2, you don't know what you have been missing. Tie a couple of these up in # 18, 20 and the next time that fish are rising, but whatever you try won't work, tie one of these on...It's a game changer!

    Will try a few of these Barry, just completed a Rusty Spinner video using your tailing technique. It really works a treat wish I had come across it years ago.

    This is probably the most "go to" fly here in Colorado I know of...we use them a lot in a dropper rig under a nice nymph ...
    Hope youre making out over there...

    Aught-naught, 14-40 sheesh these Norwegian women are bad for your hearing.. But they are great to have around.. I have had mine for several decades and in the last decade she has even started letting me sleep in the house! ;-) What a woman! Nice pattern Barry.. I learn so many new tricks from you... it is so much fun to watch and learn.. oh yeah the Doc even ganged up with my wife and smacked me for using my hand to much.. I guess I have some ligament or tendon damage in my thumb.. sheesh.. who cares I told 'em. I am 68.. things are supposed to wear out.. I'll be just fine (as soon as they forget) take care mate.. (tell me I got that one right at least.. I would hate to have you think I was making a pass at you!!!) carry on son.. and have a lot of fun doing it!

    Less is more, isn't that the truth when it comes to fly tying! Our BWO that is coming off right now are in the 16 to 20 range, and that one would work like a charm. I need CDC. Later in the season from July to October, the BWO is sized #22 to #26. I like TMC-101's for these. And for the Trico's that come off at the same time. On one of my home rivers, there are times when 7x is too big, I have gone as small as 10 x if it is still. Lots of fishing pressure and the trout see a lot of bugs. The mothers Day hatch is just about here. Hurray!!

    Thanks for the amazing content as always! I would be very interested by a video (or an explanation) on how you get the bunch of cdc? Because each time I wanna use cdc, I have to use too many feathers to have a good density and I'm sure there is a better way. Thanks again :)

    • @Thefeatherbender
      @Thefeatherbender  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Mathieu, thanks. Regarding the bunch of CDC technique what you need is a Magic tool and magic tool stacker. For the full instructions you can watch this video, where I show you the technique with the tool. ua-cam.com/video/ShuWsnX17jk/v-deo.html

      @@Thefeatherbender Thanks, after some research I've found on internet that a lot of people also use the "triple needle" (it's a translation from French so I'm not sure if it's correct). Here is a link with someone using this tool ua-cam.com/video/kElI_eWP_hg/v-deo.html I'd love to have ur feedback on this technique and maybe which one seem the best.

    Great pattern, Barry, easy to reproduce even for me! How do you fix #18 hook in the vise? I use the same MP Master Vise, but it is very difficult to fix properly a hook smaller, than #12, in it. Afraid, that I got a wrongly made vise. Petitjean is not answering my inquiries, so I don't know what to do.

    • @Thefeatherbender
      @Thefeatherbender  4 роки тому

      Hi SB, thats strange! There should be NO problem with hooks down to #32 with the Swiss Master. Sorry I have to ask, are you adjusting the tension screw on the rear side of the jaws every time you set a new hook size? The Swiss Master vice carries a lifetime warranty, if there is something wrong with it Marc will fix it. Let me know and I will sort it out for you.

      @S.V.C.B. 4 роки тому

      @@Thefeatherbender Yes, Barry, I do, but first, the screw is rather long, and it comes to the full stop exactly to #12 (even #12 is loose), and second, the screw has real problems with the thread, it looks to be a little incorrect. I appreciate it very much that you are ready to help, but think it would be rather difficult, since I live in Moscow, Russia.

    How do you usually fish this Barry?

    • @Thefeatherbender
      @Thefeatherbender  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, you can fish it dry, as an emerger just under the surface or as a nymph.
