SHIRK is opposite/against of TAWHEED
BID'AT is opposite/against of SUNNAH of our Beloved Prophet(SAWS)
Anything which is against the teachings of our beloved Prophet(SAWS) shall be of no benefit even if he/she is doing all acts of worship like Salah(namaaz), Saum(fasting/Roza), Qurbani(Animal sacrifice), Hajj, Paying zakath etc.,
Allaah(SWT) says in the Qur'an that the only sin which will not be forgiven on the day of judgement is the SHIRK - (associating anything with ALLAAH in worship) and the most evil affairs are their innovations; and every innovation is error.
Narrated Aisha: Allah's Apostle(PBUH) said, "If somebody innovates something which is not in harmony with the principles of our religion, that thing is rejected." [Bukhari :: Book 3 :: Volume 49 :: Hadith 861]
Narrated Anas: The Prophet(PBUH) said, "Some of my companions will come to me at my Lake Fount, and after I recognize them, they will then be taken away from me, whereupon I will say, 'My companions!' Then it will be said, 'You do not know what they innovated (new things) in the religion after you." [Bukhari :: Book 8 :: Volume 76 :: Hadith 584]
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as stating that Allah the Most High and Exalted said: I am the One, One Who does not stand in need of a partner. If anyone does anything in which he associates anyone else with Me, I shall abandon him with one whom he associates with Allah. [Muslim :: Book 42 : Hadith 7114]
