Hey J the Greer Lightspeed and Greer Southland Harmonic Overdrive are right up your alley for your playing style. Expensive but there is a guy on Reverb Z-FX pedals who has a combination of both called the Cheetah for $95. I have one and it's fantastic. Doesn't have that blanket of mids going on and has a lot of clarity. Lightspeed has very little gain while the Southland can get more aggressive. Hope all is well bud.
Here in Canada, both the Greer Southland HOD and the Greer Lightspeed are 321$ each before fees and taxes! I'd be looking at over 700$ for 2 pedals, Ouch!
The Timmy is a cool pedal, although severely over priced... But the sugar drive, not really impressed with that one. I sent it back but kept the Timmy!
Those pedals are priced too high for a guy like me, but it's nice to get a gigging player's perspective. I'm a believer that a little aluminum box with a few pots and transistors should never be above $100CAD, let alone the crazy prices for a Klon. Of course, many disagree with me as expensive pedal sales are booming.
As a gigging musician, I agree with you... there's nothing in this little box that makes it worth it price, however with these custom shop pedals, for example, this Timmy was designed in collaboration with Paul Cochrane (Veteran Pedal builder) so you're paying for his knowledge and experience.... and if this pedal lasts for even just 2 years, that's 400 gigs approx.... so really it will only cost me .50 cents per use😁
Howdy, Hoss! LOL. Hey, you know the drill. You’ll find ALL of the UA-cam channels you visited in a section of your UA-cam called “History”. As a teacher, I’d have thought you knew your history. Go figure.
Yeah I don't really have a use for it, but I like how transparent it is. It seems to just add gain to what ever is in front of it without altering your original tone ... Maybe I'm wrong but that's what I heard. 😉
Yea, Way overpriced! After fooling around with them you can probably get what you want, but yikes you guys up there get raked over the coals on prices. As you probably know JHS has a Clone pedal that was also very versatile, and not to expensive? It may even have been a DIY. Love your videos!
The rattling is the jacks spring. Its common(ish). Thanks for the review 🌹
@@basarat hmmm good to know thanks!
Yeah, I got the Ibanez Overdrive. Didn't like it either. Klon is also a mid drive (though different)
@@basarat yeah not a fan of this one... sent it back!
Love these. Great job man!!! Timmy is lit!!!
Yup timmy is rockin... sugar, could be good depending on application. But as a stand alone drive, not for me!
Thanks for the nice review. It seems like maybe the sugar drive is a bit like a tube screamer. Thanks again. 👏🏻
Thanks for watching!

MXR Sugar drive isn't for everyone. It's a killer Klon clone if that is what you like!
