Hi doc. I know you are a board certified dermatologist and for someone who has lost all confidence and hope in my plight to fight my skin issues, I really appreciate you using this platform to help and educate especially people of color, on how to combat skin related issues. My only thing is that most of the before and after photos I have seen are for caucasian skin. We need more authentic pics for skin of color. A lot of other dermatologist have advocated for us to use certain products but didn't necessarily work for our skin tone so it would help to see real improvements on people with darker skin tones. This is just my opinion

Hi Dr. Alex, Thank you for all your educative videos. Very much appreciated. I have tried Cyspera and followed all the needed steps (using moisturizer, physical sunscreen and Vitamine C). I use only clean products with no harmful ingedrients. Even though, I have been using it consistently for 8 weeks, I don't see any difference. Evenmore, I think my skin got darker. Help! What am I doing wrong? X
I've never used cyspera, or anything else that was mentioned in this video, BUT I too we're doing all the steps (chemical peel, acids, vitamin c, moisturizer, & sunscreen) and I have had successful skin benefits. However, I still would get sunburnt (just hyperpigmentation only) off & on while wear physical sunscreen (COTZ). Well, I changed my sunscreen to an Asian brand (Beauty of Joseon) a few months ago & I have not had any hyperpigmentation issues from the sun since! And I still use acids, vit c, retinol etc..
Thank you so much for this! As someone who has been prescribed hydroquinone products for my hyperpigmentation for years, im excited to try this out, and hoping i see better, longer lasting, and less harmful results!

I've been using it for a month now..It works really well on my stubborn PIH. One spot that was pitch black (and still visible with concealer, foundation, and powder) is now barely visible on my bare skin after 5 weeks! But... I'm really frustrated with finding a way to tackle my acne though. Cyspera hasn't worked well with retinol or salicylic acid for me ( I got burns around my mouth that darkened) and now my skin is VERY sensitive and dry 😔😔
@@DrAlexisStephens thank you! Yes, now I'm using cyspera, moisturizer, and vitamin C ester at night and salicylic acid, moisturizer, and sunscreen in the morning. My skin is still sensitive and dry, but ill give it 4 more weeks. Also, have you tried the Aveeno or walgreens dupe daily moisturizer/ skin protectant? Its the only moisturizer ive ever tried that doesnt burn or otherwise irritate my skin.
Hi, Dr Stephens, So glad I found your channel today. Subscribed and binge watched. Since APC has replied to you two weeks back. Would you recommend APC 5% Cysteamine cream to buy and use. Please do reply. I'm waiting to hear on this. Thank you in advance!
@@adjk4169 No, Dr, Stephens did not say that APC replied, but I see APC's reply below. I am not sure if Stephens noticed it or not. You can scroll down a little and you will see. I am copying and pasting here for you. ""Hey Dr. Stephens- Wow! This is an outstanding video! You've got another subscriber and thank you very much for discussing our product. We had several customers reach out to us about this video and us not responding to you, so I wanted to jump on here directly to answer/address whatever concerns you had. Our IT folks screened through our emails/website and we didn't see anything, but hey, its 2020, who knows- please accept our sincere apology. It was not intentional and we have nothing to hide! First- we are in complete agreement on the smell! We get some negative comments here and there about it, but we'd rather keep less ingredients in our products than try masking the smell. Second- regarding the active ingredient itself- we use pharmaceutical grade Cysteamine HCl. It's hygroscopic properties make it uniquely challenging to work with, but our current formula has remained stable in solution in excess of 180 days with no oxidation or decrease in efficacy. We are so glad that you mentioned our products and really appreciate the straight forward nature of your channel. I jumped on expecting an APC bashing because we aren't exclusively sold through Med-Spas like the "other brand"- but your video was educational and honest. Please let us know the best way to get a hold of you and I'll gladly send you a sample as an apology for our team missing your initial contact. Cheers! - APC"
I would love to give the a try I have been struggling with hyperpigmentation on my chin and near my mouth for over a year now! Also a health care worker that would really appreciate this 🥰
This sounds so interesting. I’ve been struggling with hyperpigmentation for so long. Ugh! 😩. Thanks for doing the giveaway. Keeping my fingers crossed! 🤞🏼
I've tried this because of your mixed makeup video, I have a slightly darker mark on my face that i've had my whole life, and this has helped a lot! it is expensive and took time but I do see results. I would love to see a video on dark circles, because i noticed that this didn't help with pigmentation under my eyes.
Hi Senait, How long did it take to see differences? I have been using it for 8 weeks, but I feel that my pigmentation got worse, even though I followed all needed steps.
I had no idea that my infertility treatments and the use of progesterone to thicken my cervix once I did get pregnant could have contributed to my hyperpigmentation. Mind blown! Thanks for the completely thorough video...
@@mochabetty will look it up. I feel no at home treatment will help me. I live in CT and to find someone knowledgeable about my Fitzpatrick is tricky. Sigh.
Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that. I’ve unfortunately read similar comments from others. Maybe it’s just not for you skin type. Wait... she just said 16 wks to see results. How many bottles would that be? I hope you’ve found something that works. Surely you will still be a beautiful bride. Congratulations 🥂
I have been waiting for this video since your interview on Mixed Makeup. Thank you so much. Unfortunately, I will not be able to afford this but I’m glad there is something out here with positive results for hyperpigmentation.
I'm so glad I found your channel, I've learned so much! I've suffered from eczema since I was 5, and acne and hyperpigmentation almost as long. It's been a lifelong, cyclical battle, and while I've come a long way, I'm excited to try an alternative product as affective, but safer than hydroquinone.
Hope that I can be one of the winners. I have hyperpigmentation on my face that looks like a beard. I cannot leave my house without makeup. The quarantine has helped a bit because I can wear masks instead of makeup, but it’s really bad. Unfortunately in Jamaica they don’t offer electrolysis for hair removal. Only laser. I’ve done it a couple of times, and it seems to get worse. The hyperpigmentation is horrible though. I have been using a 10% glycolic acid and mandelic acid toner and aloe Vera at night to help. And using ambi fade cream to help. I have horrible texture though on my lower face. I think I just need overall help. Glad I found this channel.

Guys yes it is a miracle. I went to see her because I suffer from hyperpigmentation for 3 years. This changed my skin. I'm bless to have found her and have her as my dermatologist.
@J R I have a simple routine. Dr Stephens have thought me have a simple skin care routine because I was a skin junkie lol.. My morning routine- I cleanse with crave gentle cleanser, I apply a kojic serum that I have ( already mixed with arbutin and tranexemic acid), I apply an azelaic acid 15% serum mixed with niacinamide 5% dr Stephens prescribed me. I apply my moisturizer follow by sunscreen ( very important). If you suffer from hyperpigmentation sunscreen is a must ( I apply it whether I'm home or not). Night time- I apply the cyspera for 15 minutes, then I do a double cleansing. I apply the ordinary arbutin serum, the azelaic acid serum, the tranexemic acid from inkey link, night moisturizer, followed by shea butter to trap everything.
I have hyperpigmentation all over my body. My chest and legs are light and my stomach and back are darker. The contrast is very great. I'm happy to finally find an overview of cyspera because I've been eyeing it for months. The price is hefty, but I'm willing to invest to see if it works for me.

Dr. Stephens, thank you so much for sharing invaluable information with your followers. With so much misinformation, it’s so nice to hear from experts that deliver factual, science-based and unbiased knowledge to consumers. As an licensed esthetician (of color), who works with SOC clients that suffer from hyperpigmentation, I’ve gained so much insight/wisdom from watching your videos (and doing follow up research from your clinical excerpts). P.S. We’re in the same state so, if you do any shadowing/mentoring, I’d love to come by and see you. Besides, it’s time for my annual check up 😊🙏🏾😘❤️

@@evanjoroge8066 Hi! I have combination skin, but I’m more on the oily side. The products that I use religiously are niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, rosehip oil and squalane oil. Recently I incorporated a 2% Granactive Retinoid (used at night) by The Ordinary that also has squalane and it has worked wonders! I wish i had gotten on the retinoid train sooner! I also started incorporating Vitamin C (Ascorbyl glucoside 12%) in the morning and it’s the best thing I’ve done for my skin! The retinoid at night and vitamin c in the morning is a great combo! But be careful what you mix it with! I hope this helps!

@@evanjoroge8066 Aw, I was afraid you might say that :( I think you should see a dermatologist or an esthetician (if you haven’t already) and see what they recommend. The retinoid I mentioned also comes with 0.2% so I believe it shouldn’t irritate your skin, but you should ask a professional first, just in case. Some people get breakouts with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, but I believe it’s naturally found in our skin, we just lose it over time, so I believe the hyaluronic acid shouldn’t irritate you a lot either, depending on how they’re formulated. I know it has the “acid” on the name but it’s not harsh its hydrating! :)

I am so grateful to have found this channel. I have been using pigment pads with hydroquinone for the past 3-4 years. Each time I stop the pads, my skin quality plummets. I am currently dealing with horrible hyperpigmentation after being off my pigment pads for a month. I have been searching for an effective skincare routine, because at almost 37, I can’t continue struggling with my skin. I would love to win these products to help my get my skin together in 2021. 🙏🏾 subscribed! Notifications on! Following on IG and sharing! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
This sounds like a miracle to finally get rid of hyperpigmentation. I would love to win this giveaway and would definitely benefit from this product. Thank you for always sharing accurate knowledge on skin care products.
Me too!
love your videos!!! But Something about the microphone seems to be wrong it would be nice that the sound quality improved! Thanks a lot for all the usefull information!!
I've been using it for a month now..It works really well on my stubborn PIH. One spot that was pitch black (and still visible with concealer, foundation, and powder) is now barely visible on my bare skin after 5 weeks! But... I'm really frustrated with finding a way to tackle my acne though. Cyspera hasn't worked well with retinol or salicylic acid for me ( I got burns around my mouth that darkened) and now my skin is VERY sensitive and dry 😔😔
sorry to hear this did you try using one in the morning and the other at night?
@@DrAlexisStephens thank you! Yes, now I'm using cyspera, moisturizer, and vitamin C ester at night and salicylic acid, moisturizer, and sunscreen in the morning. My skin is still sensitive and dry, but ill give it 4 more weeks. My Paula's choice omega moisturizer stings my face now..but the Sente dermal repair cream sample is the only moisturizer that doesn't irritate my skin.
Thank you for this... your skin sounds like mine. This gives me an idea of how my skin might react. Please update us on your results, burns and sensitivity. Also, have you tried the Aveeno or walgreens dupe daily moisturizer/ skin protectant? Its the only moisturizer ive ever tried that doesnt burn or otherwise irritate my skin.
This video is a Blessing. My hyperpigmentation is at it worst. Thank God for wearing mask.
I’ve learned so much from watching your channel. I just wish that I lived closer so that I could be an actual patient.
Hi, Dr Stephens, So glad I found your channel today. Subscribed and binge watched. Since APC has replied to you two weeks back. Would you recommend APC 5% Cysteamine cream to buy and use. Please do reply. I'm waiting to hear on this. Thank you in advance!
Did Dr Stephens say APC replied? Where is the response please?
Also a health care worker that would really appreciate this 🥰
Does it fade over the time of not !?
Does it work
I can wait to try this. I have been struggling with hyperpigmentation for the last 3 years
Wow! I wished I found out about you Doc years ago. I was born with hyperpigmentation, I do hope Cyspera works for me.
This sounds so interesting. I’ve been struggling with hyperpigmentation for so long. Ugh! 😩. Thanks for doing the giveaway. Keeping my fingers crossed! 🤞🏼
Gosh! This is amazing. I've been struggling with hyperpigmentation from plucking for years 😭. I can't wait to try this! This channel is blessing.
I've tried this because of your mixed makeup video, I have a slightly darker mark on my face that i've had my whole life, and this has helped a lot! it is expensive and took time but I do see results. I would love to see a video on dark circles, because i noticed that this didn't help with pigmentation under my eyes.
Hi Senait,
How long did it take to see differences? I have been using it for 8 weeks, but I feel that my pigmentation got worse, even though I followed all needed steps.
Oh man. If it’s going to make my pigmentation worse then I don’t want to buy it! Ugh! 😭
Omg!!! Thank you so much for making this video🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 I’ve been looking for information on this cream for MONTHS. You’re the best💜
I just ordered this I’m gonna try this and update you guys !
Please do
Have you seen any change if you try ?
I had no idea that my infertility treatments and the use of progesterone to thicken my cervix once I did get pregnant could have contributed to my hyperpigmentation. Mind blown! Thanks for the completely thorough video...
Going out on a leap of faith here but ready to be confident in my skin again like today!
So glad you provided a link to the product . I’ve looked everywhere after you mentioned it in a few videos . Thank you
All I want is an even tone for my wedding. I’ve been using this product diligently for months with no changes.
I’ve heard people had success with Urban Rx
@@mochabetty will look it up. I feel no at home treatment will help me. I live in CT and to find someone knowledgeable about my Fitzpatrick is tricky. Sigh.
What is “fitzpatrick” and have you continued to use this product and have you seen any improvement?
I’m actually using the APC brand and I saw a slight improvement of my melasma after 2 weeks. I’m on week 4 and very hopeful!
I love that this is a natural compound that is safe for the face and body. Thanks for the informative video. Would love to win this giveaway :)
Hello Dr. Stephens, thank you SO much for all the knowledge you are sharing! ❤❤❤ 😊 I am considering purchasing Cyspera and noticed there is a new formula. Would you recommend the original or new formula?

What’s your morning and evening routine?
So happy to have you as a patient❤️ Happy Holidays!
Thank You Dr Alexis Stephens. I'm honored. Happy holidays to you as well.
@@Skaniathespartan what brand of kojic acid?

Besides, it’s time for my annual check up 😊🙏🏾😘❤️
My skin naturally has discoloring and hyperpigmentation. Would this treatment even out my complexion and how long with this treatment would I begin to see results.
Mine is the same. I don't have acne spots, but my forehead is slightly darker than the rest of my face. I wonder if this product will even out our skin tone. I also can't tell if you can/not use it under the eyes.
Same with me, due to the cost would like to know when should I start to see results.

This sounds amazing! I’ve finally gotten my acne under control and now I have a couple of dark spots, this sound like a solution!
Hi.. what did you use for your acne?
@@evanjoroge8066 btw! salicylic acid is very important! I have a face wash from La roche-posay that has 2% and it doesn’t irritate my skin or dry it out like Benzoyl Peroxide :)
@@gabsaurs376 aww thanks alot for that
My skin is dehydrated and sensitive,it's really tough finding suitable products because almost everything irritates my skin Soo l mostly use baby products which are abit costly n not really up to the task
