You did it, you broke the Mechanicore curse! You actually built a mechanicore kit and made a detailed video review of it! Thats not something a lot of (if any besides you) people can claim to have done.

It's crazy how hard it is for any company that isn't Bandai to have competent snap-fit kits. Really shows why they're the king of model kits

garchompdude you have to check out the supernova kits. They are better then Bandai. You can paint on the runners and the sprue marks are made to be hidden.

Pfft better than bandai but still has fitting issues.... the problem with bootlegs are the fitting issue.. sure SN has a good kind of plastic but its nowhere near bandai... Bandai is more builder friendly... you get what you pay for...

Jase nope. I have the SN wing kits. There are fitting issues, plastic quality isn’t as good as Bandai. They are brittle and could break if your not careful. Specially so for WZC.

@@JaseJustInCase that's the problem, some people receive good ones, some get the bad ones. Quality control is nowhere to be found while Bandai here, despite their wing kits being old, they're still good.

Photo etching isn't the same as laser cutting:
"Photochemical machining (PCM), also known as photochemical milling or photo etching, is a chemical milling process used to fabricate sheet metal components using a photoresist and etchants to corrosively machine away selected areas." - Wikipedia
I've always wanted to see a good review of a Mechanicore kit.

Build this kit right now and I can honestly say I’m not having nearly as much issues you came across. I am painting this this though it’s been in my best interest to test fit things prior to painting and final assembly. Most of my problems were solved by just buying new screws. Luckily the book that comes with the kit tells you exactly the size of the screws it comes with so I bought extras on amazon so if the screw the instructions called for we’re too long I’d just swap with a shorter one, and if it was too short I’d use a longer one. Without having to steal screws from anywhere else on the kit. Thanks to that my elbows are completely poseable. Also for those parts that run into eachother on the upper arms, I I just sanded down the surfaces of them until I had enough clearance to stack them the way they’re pictured. Didn’t have to cut anything.

    • @depshallburn

Having seen people hacking their plane models apart to install resin engines and cockpits and photoetch internal ribs with custom wiring to match photoreferences, or people doing cutouts showing scratchbuilt crew compartments on their tank kits, the detail and PITA amounts of work going into something something like this no longer seems so absurd.

  • @TheLukemcdaniel
    @TheLukemcdaniel 5 років тому +4

photo-etch, by name isn't done with lazer. It's actually made really similarly to developing a b/w photograph, but that's used to remove protective material where the 'cuts' are, then it's dipped in an acid that eats through that metal.

@@AverageRomanceEnjoyer yeah, but that lineart doesn't exactly hold up honestly.
@MrFlunkOrg They won't make kits till narrative is over, and they have at least something to properly present. Hell the reveal for the Hathaway's flash seemed to be a little accidental from what I remember of that stream......

@@dol_mel7487 I doubt there gunna animate it especially since there running with evolves continuity instead and I'm pretty sure Hathaways flash also goes of the light novel of chars counterattack so if they did certain plot points wouldn't make much sense especially if there going off of evolves timeline because in that quess (I think that's how you spell her name) in evolve survives cca and Hathaway gets married or something like that

If you are in the gunpla industry since wayback you will understand that mechanicore model kits are not for beginners and only experienced/elite/godlike modeler peeps are the ones who will have the patience and skills to build this awesome but piece of sh!+ to build kits.. at the end of your vid you said you will never get one of these kits again.. it has been 3 years my friend.. given your polished skills in building gunplas maybe you could consider buying another one for comparison.. I suggest the perfect zeong 😁

Then again wasn't Zerstore the worst of the mechanicore kits. Sure most of these kits are just metal bricks that look nice on your shelf, except tief sturmer which you would need a big display case sitting right next to your Neo Zeong HG.

It's a pro kit, of course it's going to take a lot of work. What did you expect? A straight build?
