- Hi everyone, in this video me and some friends went to Wales to drive one of the most famous green lanes in the UK - The Strata Florida. Did we make it through?

Yep the Prado is miles ahead of the Vitara 😂 To be expected though!
I've always been impressed with these older Grand Vitaras, my brother in law bought one cheap for a green laning toy, a long wheelbase model of all things, and I was super impressed with how well it did. With a few minor mods these things make a seriously capable off roader. I see the open diffs gave you some trouble though!
They are very low stock. It literally scrapes all the time because that muffler hangs so low. With a lift some bigger tires and a smaller muffler it will be capable for sure.

Hi great video, I am myself a big fan of mk1 grand Vitara's, I've done Welsh mini expedition with Defenders and LC Amazon with no problems, all I have is 225/75/16 all season tyres , and cheap basic suspension lift for 160£ from ebay,

That GV handled most it like a champ, but good call turning around when you did - I honestly thought you might end up w/ a smashed oil pan or something a couple of times when you hit something on the bottom there. Great video though dude, such a beautiful place.
haha yep! The good thing about the Vitara is that the diff is above the oil pan so the diff is the what takes most of the hits! If it was the oil pan it would probably be done by now 😬
Yeah, the ground clearance is the one shortcoming Grand Vitaras - otherwise tough and capable vehicles - have. I don't know if it is the same with your shorter model but worst bit with this issue on my 5-door Grand Vitara is the gearbox area - I always tend to bang and scrape (and in worse cases bend) the skid plate under it. But I will be installing a cheaper sort of 4-centimeter lift to my vehicle in around week or so and I'm quite sure it will make some difference. Suggest you do the same 😉

The main problem with mine is the exhaust muffler, it hangs down low. Yes a lift will make a big difference!

The limit with stock vehicles is often how much damage you're willing to do to them, haha!
Hahaha exactly! I am pretty sure it would make it all the way through, but it would scrape a lot! The shots from outside are on my phone, the dash cam is a Gopro Hero 5 and the drone a DJI Mini 2. Nothing fancy but they do the job!
