I LOVED this video, and Kyle makes such good points. I remember the first time I walked into the original Gatherall and it was like somebody had pre-screened all attendees to be immediately on my wavelength. I speak to some of my Bond friends on a nearly daily basis and it's not all about Bond. I chat to Frank about beer and pizza and music, and Thomas about history and our weird expatriate experience. I chat to Mike about books and history and his military experience. I talk to Nick about journalism and bartending. Being part of the Bond community was like "finding my tribe" so to speak.
What I really love about it, though, is that a lot of Bond fans seem to have shared experiences that create a deeper connection. There's a sense of being an outsider to Bond, which I think resonates with many Bond fans. There's a sense of rebelliousness hidden behind the veneer of Savile Row suits and shiny cars. There's a deep romanticism, despite Bond's reputation as a womanizer. I think Bond fans often share many of the same core values, and I love that about the community.

Unfortunately everyone that's Bond's friend ends up getting killed or eaten by something that didn't agree with them.
The friends I've made, especially you two, are the best thing that has come from being a James Bond fan!

With the world being not so nice right now, it’s great to get a break from it and connect with members of the bond community. It just makes the world a little brighter.
The comradery is the best. I have met fellow fans that I have only known online and we immediately bond. It can be a one-on-one meeting previously coordinated, or an impromptu get together that was coordinated just hours before. All these events are special and could be just two, three, four, or a hundred of us. It is all good.

Love me the Bond. Love(d) me the Star Wars. The difference? One fandom is made up of respect and diversity, the other of anger and elimination. A really impressive fandom with some really cool people in it.
Loved Bond after playing Goldeneye 64, watched the movie and had to watch all the others. History made, fanatic made. I don't dress well but I admire your knowledge in that. But I just finished reading Casino Royale last night as my first Bond book. It excites me to know there's so much more Bond stuff I have to experience.
Pierce is my favourite, Moore is my least favourite btw, but I do love em all

I remember my dad taking me to see The Spy who loved me when I was 10 years old. I've been a fan since then.My favorite Bond is Daniel Craig. I know some people will think I'm crazy,but he is. Favorite movie is Casino Royale. Sorry David and Kyle more of a Batman fan then Superman

You call yourselves James Bond fans?!! JK!! Finding a Bond interest in common is always a fun way to make a friend. We look for common interests anyway, so if it happens to be Bond that is bonus!! I think too, that perhaps Bond fans are guarded, been burned a number of times. So when a real friendship is made, it is usually strong because trust is there. You know who has your back.
I attended my first and last gatherall in August where I met both of you. Not impressed. Both seemed very standoffish and uninterested in chatting. The complete opposite of how you both appear in these videos. I even found people who had a similar experience with you in the James Bond subreddit.
@@William-0415 He puts together these events throughout the year. One of them is something called Gatherall. I went to my first Gatherall in August. I tried striking up a conversation with him, but he seemed uninterested. I tried talking with Kyle, who also seemed he couldn't be bothered. A few weeks back, I was on the James Bond subreddit, and it seems others posted how disingenuous he was towards them. One even posted how he uses his channel to show off. I just turned me off to the whole Bond community.
That really sucks and I’m sorry you had to go through that. 2 weeks after your comment and not a peep from David is disappointing and I see no reason to doubt you. He’s a fat cat executive type and those people don’t tend to be the most empathetic. I feel like Calvin would be really chill to talk to at least.
