Reba is realistic and believable as Nellie Forbush. Her performance is stunning. This is one of my favorite performances that she has participated in as an artist. Brilliant!
Reba never disappoints. Love this SP the best . Love the whole cast, most of all Reba. How beautiful of an artist is she , love her pretty face, her smile her spunk
A very long time ago, I saw Reba at Carnegie Hall when she was first starting out in her long career. She sang a song a capella and blew the house down. I have been following her ever since. She is made for this role of Nellie Forbush, just as Brian Stokes Mitchell is made for the role of Emil. South Pacific is one of R&H's best works. Love it.
Wow Reba really nail it as Nellie Forbush, she did a great job and I love her singing of "I'm going wash that man right out my hair" that one of favorite muscial songs.
@bam4ever22 Yes, and more recently Frasier Crane's neighbor, Cam Winston. However, he is a Tony award winning actor, having spent many years performing on Broadway.
I believe Reba currently records for an independent label named Big Machine. I know that she'd first recorded for a major label, Mercury. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong about all this!
It's disgusting the way UA-cam allows this classic score to be brutalized by incessant indescribably tawdry irrelevant commercials...It destroys any continuity and so diminishes the experience of being involved in this great show....Too bad, so abusive of the audience...
Google has to ruin all great concert by inserting many ads in this FREELY aired PBS great performance. I recorded this but who watches/ listens to dvds anymore?
Robbie Hagberg I think you should be able to get it done before you leave the house and I can go to the store if you want to do it for us and I can go to the store and get it done before you leave the house and I can go to me please thanks for letting me know that you are going to be there in a few minutes but I don't know what time it will come out to
The character Nellie Forbush was not an oriental nurse. She was from Little Rock, Arkansas. Reba excels as a Southern lady as she happens to be from Oklahoma so she is genuinely a Southern lady. ;)
I believe the Oriental Nurse mentioned was one of the Chorus singers singing with Reba in "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair" and "I'm In Love With A Wonderful Guy".
she does pretty good in this part, it's not bad. Still, she does NOT have the R&H voice for the part. I know she is supposed to be a country girl, but not every song (especially "A Wonderful Guy"!) has to be 100% country, b/c that's about all I got. I am so sick of big names being casted for publicity and attentio n when they can't do the part nearly enough justice.
I agree with you. I dont care how authentic she may be I want a good 'musical' voice to go with the wonderful Stokes Mitchell, and she doesn't give that to me. I loved Mitzi Gaynor though.

Reba is absolutely amazing in this she sounds wonderful and she is absolutely stunning she is beautiful inside and out sending love and hope always

This, as well as Annie Oakley, proves Reba can sing in any genre. Her tone and phrasing are inspired.

Reba is absolutely breathtaking here ❤❤❤❤❤
Glad to see someone recognizes Mr. Mitchell! Love him.
As my daughter says when she watches this "Reba is the spark of my eye"
❤❤❤ I love her. 💘❤❤
I love that hello. I never appreciated Reba until this God I would love to play amile with her.
Would love to see her as Dolly Levi!
It took me a while to like Reba in this part but I actually think she did a fantastic job.
Think you Reba! I most liked South Pacific before.
you,s play is more wonderful!

P
Incredibly enough, several times UA-cam shoves in stick-a*s commercials right in the middle of these great songs! .. believe it or not!
womp womp
I LOVE REBA❤❤❤❤❤❤

Not to mention.......her middle name is Nell....lol :)
Reba is the perfect Nellie. Best ever.

Helloooo, gorgeous.
Oriental nurse...US Navy...WWII...something doesn't fit.

I think racism doesn't fit in the 21st Century.

She had to have talent to make it to Carnegie Hall..they just don't put anyone on stage..remember the black actor who played Hamilton on Broadway!🎶🎶🎶

Critics are ten a penny.
Disagree. In fact I think she sounds surprisingly like Mary Martin. Top notch voice, but admittedly laying on an overly thick drawl. Dang good!
Get a life, if you do not like it, move on.
Oh R&H shmar n' H, Reba is a much more authentic Nelly than Mitze Gaynor - who never once sounded like someone from Arkansas.
