I am really glad you are selling the bike.. That bike definitely needs to be owned by someone that will appreciate it.. The Victory Cross is an awesome ride and the biggest disappointment is Polaris dropping them...
I agree. No sense in me having something that isn't joyful to ride. I think the new owner is enjoying it more than I could. I'm too spoiled by Indians.
I enjoyed the Victory so much, I bought an Indian Chief Vintage (looks nice, but less comfortable and a pain in the butt to clean). My 2013 Victory XC has 60,000kms from new. My 2014 Indian only has 19,000kms from new. Guess which is the better ride. The Victory is a better bike in many respects (handling, comfort, grin factor) whereas the Indian destroyed a cam lifter after less than 5,000kms from new and its paint / chrome is shoddy. Then Polaris dropped Victory in favour of Indian. Suffice to say that I won't be buying another Polaris product as a result - its back to Harley for me.
I'll be keeping my X1 and my Vegas. 7000 miles on my X1 and have loved every mile. 14000 on the Vegas both are fantastic machines. Yes the X1 is a beast. As far as the throttle being twitchy you just needed it tuned. The 106 unleashed is a beast of a engine just needed to get rid of the factory tune. Maximus tuner is the way to go . Mine runs like a champ.
Have to agree. I have a 2017 XC with Loydz LSC cams, Maximus, miller mufflers and Loydz air cleaner, dynoed by Kevin X and it RUNS!! Will pull paint off any harley. And the SOUND good lawd. I’m keeping this for at least 5 years. Next is 23 with full rear air and swept bags
Yeah. Crazy. I have the 2012 cross roads. Im 220lbs 5'11" air set at 25/45 with adult passenger. By far the best riding most comfortable bike. Handles like a dream. 106 kills all stock HDs with the exception of maybe the 117 cvo and mine is bone stock. If he's getting buffeting than he needs a taller windshield and air dams. I have the oldschool regular windshield and get zero buffeting. I flew down to to Tx and bought my bike rode it 846 miles home I have never been so relaxed at 95 on the interstate.
He sold the bike before break/in period. No way to really judge the bike in the equivalent of 1 day to 3 weeks of miles at 430 mi. Our perceptions of performance and comfort are often pre-determined by what we’re used to. I test drove a 2018 Chieftain and felt the Magnum was the superior bike. My heart was broken when I finally drove the Indian because I spent 2 yrs salivating for it. Hopped on the Magnum and that was it for me. Glad I bought it. It really is an amazing bike.
Great looking bike! I was a Harley Man for years until I bought my Victory CCT. I love it. I don’t know the difference in the CCT and your Magnum, but I’m a former motor officer. I could take my CCT through a police course if I had to. 18’ U-turns with no problem. I will admit the the crutch is out there further than I wish but I have adjusted.
Yeah, I like the CCT. The Magnum though has a slammed rear end that brings the pipes pretty close to the ground and leaves very little suspension to absorb bumps for a fat guy! :)
Love that sounds. Makes me want to go get my XCT out right now. Your handling issues as well as ride are mainly due to the 'slammed' design the Magnums have. All the price of being cool because the regular Cross Country's are some of the best riding and handling bagger/tours out there.
All I can say is you have no clue if you think the Indian is better than the victory really do and everything you're saying about the victory isn't true the bike you're riding sounds like you've changed a lot of shit on it but the bike if left stock is probably one of the best handling bikes out there I have a Victory Cross Country and it's one of the best bikes I've ever rode I used to own a shop I used to repair motorcycles. And I've just about Rhode every motor out there. And as far as the right of the victory which has an adjustable air shock on it the bike rides fine maybe it's that you just weight much. But if the bike is left stock with the stock wheels you can't beat the handling or the ride and then all the upgrade you did with the engine and you're complaining about low end torque well that's because you changed this shit in the engine if the engine is left stock the bike has plenty of low and torque for slow speeds and as you say driving around in a parking lot it sounds like the me more is that you can't handle the bike at slow speeds like in a parking lot below 5 miles an hour or 10 miles an hour. But for me I lost it when you said you think the Indian is way better than the victory it's not even better looking than the victory if that being said that is all I will say because I can tell by the way you buy and sell buy and sell motorcycles sounds like to me you don't take the time out to really get to know him before you sell them
Ric Jackson Hi Ric. Thanks for your thoughts. I agree that I don't take a lot of time with bikes. That's just my nature. But I also think you may not know that the Magnum has different geometry than the XC. I have videos here from a few years ago of me riding a Cross Country Tour for a couple of weeks with no issues at all. Which is "better," as far as Indian or Victory, is of course a subjective matter of opinion, not an objective matter of fact. For the way I ride, I like the smoothness of the bottom end torque on the Indian 111's better. I have sport bikes I can ride if I want to wring a bike out to get performance from it. That's just not how I want a bagger/touring bike to be. Anyway, Nothing was modified as far as the suspension on that bike... It's just a Magnum, and it's lowered with less suspension travel. Oh, and I agree that I'm fat...lol. Thanks again for watching and ride safe.
@@NightcruiserMA that's why it doesn't ride well if this is Let's Travel Let's Ride More Travel More ride my cross-country handles like a gym I can put it deep in a corner at good speeds I've left everything stock on it because of bike handles the best that way when you start messing with changing tire sizes and suspension that changes the way the bike rides and handles I'm only a few bike shops that work on all of them at one time or another I know what makes them all Tech as far as the Indian goes the bike the trying to go retro the bike is too gaudy and now they're trying to pick up the X Harley-Davidson Riders by making some of their bikes look like Harley Davidsons I think Polaris made a huge mistake when they stop making victories and I do believe they will come back to them all they need to do is make the 106 with more horsepower and torque and water coolant and I promise you it would be one of the best riding and one of the best bikes out there as far as Baggers go,
thanks for taking the time to give your opinion. I currently ride a Victory Vision (trunkless) but really like the look of the Magnum. I am spoiled because the Vision wind management and suspension is superb. I was concerned about all the complaints I've been reading about Magnum buffeting and harsh suspension. Your video confirmed that. I'm thinking I could eliminate wind problem with lowers but not sure how to tame suspension, if that's even possible......but dam I like the looks of the Magnum.
I did almost the same. Went from an Ultra to a Magnum and a year later back to an Ultra. The wind management does suck on the Magnum, tried 4 different windshields, tank spoilers, and fork deflectors and never got there. The Magnum was badass and fun to ride, but I'm old and the sofa glide just fits and works for what I want.
I think you just have too much money on your hands…I am thinking no matter what bike you buy, you will find flaws 🤔 Glad there are people like yourself out there for people like us, who are patient understanding that nothing is perfect, and let others pay the premiums, while we’ll soak up the resales 😉
Agreed. Well, I used to have too much money on my hands, until I got into motorcycles...lol. But yes, I've always had an issue with buying shiny objects. And certainly it helps people down the line 😊. Fortunately the last bike I bought, my 2019 Indian Chieftain Limited, is still going strong and I've been loving it! Ride safe!
Dude , I have an XC , I’ve rode long trips with my Gf , full saddlebags , it’s super comfortable , it’s mileage is the same as a HD 883 , it handles like crazy, and for. 6 years , I have only spent maintenance and upgrades in it, this bike is the most reliable thing ever built , Once you learn how to ride this in curves , man, even if you are loaded and riding with passenger, Believe me , you would be amazed .
Hi Sergio. I agree. I rented an XC twice in the last few years (well, one was an XCT.) It's a fantastic bike. It handles great at speed. It's not even too bad at low speeds. I'm pretty good in corners, believe me :) The problem is, this is not an XC. It's a Magnum. It has different geometry, is slammed, and has a bigger front wheel. Those things matter and it's not a bike that, for me, was as good of a ride as the Indian.
NightcruiserMA right , maybe as you say , it’s a different kind of animal than the magnum, I’ve never drove one. I want a front wheel like the one in the Magnum actually! It’s sick!! Do you know about one for sale?
Don't you wonder why the Victory gear box is so smooth and quiet while the Indian gear box is so clunky? Also don't you think your decision to sell the Victory had something to do with them not being produced anymore, let's be honest.
Actually, my decision to sell the Victory was made MUCH harder by the fact that they're not being produced anymore. Even though I didn't enjoy the suspension or the engine, the fact that it was so beautiful, coupled with the fact that I would likely never be able to get another one made it really difficult. If it had been a dime a dozen Harley or Honda, it would have been easy knowing I could just get one later if I ever changed my mind.
Idk wth this dude is talking about but the 106 freedom is a very Torqy motor and has great low end I have a 2014 Vegas 8 ball 106 also I have a 100 ci 09 Vegas and that motor is torqy a hell too of course if your in 5th or 6th gear at 20 mph any bike will chug
Haha 2"6! You have to love your ride for sure! Bought a 18 HD FatBob 3wks ago, got 1900 miles and couldn't be happier. Look forward to seeing your new ride!..... Ride hard or stay home😎
Victory motorcycles were ahead of their time. Their maintenance free design with no push rods and air & oil cooling with gear primary, and one oil drain plug was revolutionary. I was going to buy one but they ceased production. Had to get a Harley-Davidson street glide 2017 instead. If polaris is smart they will never sell the Victory plans and name to anyone, heck that motorcycle tech could be combined with harley davidson.
I dodged a nuke not getting a street glide and everything in the world was screaming at me to do. No regrets on a new Magnum. gl with that SG. You are going to need it.
Three weeks after Polaris announced that it would no longer produce Victory motorcycles, I purchased a brand new Cross Country Tour. Victory really stepped up to take care of current Victory owners (I already had a 2011 Victory Kingpin) by giving $1,000 rebate and $500 towards apparel or accessories. Since I am military I received another $1,000 rebate. The dealership were I purchased my CCT offered big discounts immediately on all Victories, so I was able to get mine for $15,900. That deal was too good to pass up. Its a shame that Victory went away but I am thankful I was able to get to get the bike I wanted new. I wouldn't be surprised if Polaris re-introduces Victories again in the future and focus more on the performance cruiser segment. They really had something with the Octane.
Actually they have 2 drain plugs. Common sump but the primary area has it's own plug you are supposed to drain. I think Polaris designed this way to give an oil bath to the gears to help quiet them some. One fill hole fills everything though..
Ceased production? That was the reason?! You just said they were ahead of their time and a maintenance free design, bikes on the floor or a garage are still gonna start and still give you thousands of care-free miles. I bought my 2015 Highball after Polaris abandoned Victory and i love it. In fact i juat started motovlogging on mine. As long as i can find a well kept Victory, i will continue to buy them.
Thanks for saving me lots of money. Love the looks of these bikes, wondered how they were for wind and low speed, my only real concerns and now I've crossed if off the list.
Went through four windshields on my Cross Country- the only one that alleviated most of the buffeting was a Madstad. Highly recommended combined with the Victory lower fairing deflectors.
I went for the Klock Werks screen after the original which improved the buffeting with a full-face helmet, but instead of trying more screens, I found the Victory open-face helmet to be the answer. The lower fairing deflectors helped reduce wind hitting my knees and coming up under my glasses. Perfectly smooth and I've put over 60,000kms on my Nuclear Sunset Suede XC and it remains my favorite bike out of the five I own (including Harley, Indian and BMW). The best character in a bike, ever.
im the opposite on this one. i LOVE my 2012 vic XC and its butter on the city/hwy, easy clutch, smooth u turns, its like it drives itself. it have stage 2 kit not victory brand and thats it. i get great response, smooth shifting, no complaints after 6 years and 16,500 miles and counting.
De Master I hear you. But the Magnum is quite different in its suspension and handling, unfortunately. I rented a standard XCT a few years ago and did indeed like it.
Oh my. Why am I not surprised. I swear, you seem to change bikes more than my boys change their drawers! LOL! Keep posting, I love guessing what's next!
The Victory 100 motor throws down more low end torque then the 106. I ride with 4 other vics and I can take a 106 off the line. But upstairs they start to shine.
I have 13boardwalk and it has 10k miles I have riden it normally nothing crazy but I can’t say there is a ride issue at all. After having Sabre,Fat bob,Vrod and RE. I am happy to say I am glad I bought it. Victory offers so much.
I'm glad you like it! I had a '13 Judge that I liked as well. A big issue with this bike was that the rear was slammed. Tough ride, and no cornering clearance.
No surprise you returned to Indian and I agree with you that the ride and comfort is probably more important in the long run than the looks. I think secretly we all wish we could change models as often as you, so it’s great watching your videos and hearing your comments. I’m taking a week ride this summer through NH and NY with a group of friends and I’m renting an Indian Springfield from MOM’s in Manchester. I think a week will give me a good idea on whether dropping $20K+ on this bike is a good idea. Ride safe and I look forward to your upcoming videos on your new bikes. Last comment - your wife must be the most understanding wife on the planet!! (well 2nd to mine). Ha!
I bet it is all on look, because that bike handles really well. A big surprise is to hear that hard to handle. But I do agree that Indian is good, and stylish. I really do not look towards any Harley.
That X1 is a beautiful bike , I think you are being overly critical . Just ride it , I love my Vic Kingpin it has plenty of torque with only the 100ci with stage one and handles really well. I also have a HD Road king and that bike has class and character. there is no perfect bike . They are all good. and very additive ...
I love my 16 magnum to death, that bike had 400 miles on it, Im pretty sure I had 400 miles on in the first week...You're totally exhausting, hope you enjoy your indians, but I'm sure you're on your way to the brand you sound like you belong on, BMW.
I agree with some of your points, I test drove a vision and cross country, both handled very nice and felt nimble for their size, they actually felt more balanced then my Road king although they are much bigger, however neither of these bikes had the torque my Road king has and one of these bikes had a cam upgrade and power commander, the main negative thing I noticed on both of these bikes was the excessive heat coming from the engine, my legs were burning after a ride on both especially the vision which was a deal breaker for me. I really like the cross country, I havent ridden a magnum yet but from what i hear the only difference is the larger front wheel, everyone has their opinion but Victory's are really good looking bikes and they handle well for their size, not having the vibration that my harley has was a nice change, my hands weren't numb after a ride but lack torque and excessive heat was the biggest difference i noticed.
Yeah, the Victorys don't have the low end of an Indian or HD. The other big difference between a Cross Country and a Magnum is the slammed rear suspension.
I appreciate the honest review. This is a US made bike. People here that have a knot snatched in their panties over it are your typical die hards that drank the kool-aid of the US selling format. What is that format? You pay premium chingo for a bike that stock... Is sub-standard to what people percieve the bike to be. So you have to dump a bunch of money to change the windsheild... To change the pipes... To upgrade the fuel system and air intake.. And the upgrades are not a even a 1 step deal... They are offered in "stages". And US dealers give you a cool glass of kool-aid as your signing the papers... and point you in the direction of the parts counter where "You can make the bike your own" ($$$$$) Why is the resale value good on US bikes? Because you are buying a bike that someone else already spent tons of money upgrading. How many times have you heard people say that when they bought it. "it already has..." starts almost every sentence. Not knocking US bikes.... I am knocking the way they are sold to the public. I have the last year of production Raider. That bike comes out of the crate ready to go. No stage 1,2,3 crap. An undeniably for years the Roadliner, the Stratliner and the Raider was one of the, if not the top performance cruisers out there. It took years for the US manufacturers to catch up with the M8 114 and the Indian 116.. Which are still being pushed as "upgrades". It frustrates me as to why not sell the bike at the best it could be right from the start? As I said, your honesty is appreciated.
Idk that victory is sweet don’t think I could sell it. But if it’s not what your into you gotta move on. I ride a 2016 Harley street glide and I love this bike it fits me perfectly. Ride what you love and ride as much as you can. Be safe.
In a way, I'm not surprised you're selling the Magnum for the following reason... After watching you ride the Springfield and all the compliments you had, I was surprised you didn't purchase it. I love my Springfield for the same reason you're going back to Indian. All the best and I can't wait to see your videos on the new bike. Ride safe.
I tired the Indians. The Chieftain and the Roadmaster. I was pretty underwhelmed by both. Pretty small rider position. Felt too much like the Harley Ultra. It is unfortunate for me because I like the looks of the Indians. Biggest draw back is how much heat the engines puts out. It’s ok for short rides but most of my riding is usually all day and there is no way to be comfortable on it. I had to take turns riding with a friend of mine cause neither one of us could put up with it for long periods. Hope you have a better experience.
If you get rid of the cat then the heat problem is gone. Changing the head pipe on my roadmaster was the best thing I have done to my bike. The seat can be changed to give you more room. I’m only 5’8 and I have more room on my roadmaster then any Harley I have ever ridden.
Hi Brian. Both of my previous Indians ran warm, but it didn't bother me too much. I do feel a little cramped on Indians compared to Victorys, but I'm a short guy anyway, and I can just rest my feet on the highway pegs if I need to.
Brian Beck I’ve been looking to get something other than a Harley. I went to the Indian dealership and sat on all the bike models they had. I’m 6’3 and found all of them to be very tight for me. Now I’m looking at victory and bmw. Not sure which yet but I think I’m down to those two
Most of the guys I ride with own Victory motorcycles but a couple of them have switched to BMW. Not sure which BMWs they are but but I know they are in-line 6 motors with 6 speeds and hard bags. They are good looking bikes with a lot of power. They have stated there are things they like better about Victory and there are things they like better about BMW. It really comes down to personal preference.
I wish that I had bought this bike from you. Probably would have been my last bike. Unless Indian came out with something that I couldn't live without.
I didn't watch the video but the 116 was recalled. Do yourself a favour spend the extra go to lloydz in New York and have him do his 116. I'm beside myself with grief for the X1 though lol. It's really the bike I want one day but the 15 or 16 model. That said my Hammer with air rode doesn't bother me at all and I'm light weight lol. Underdrive pulley is awesome with these Victory bikes too
I have been watching your videos for years and really enjoy them. The moment I saw you unveil the Magnum, I turned to my wife and said, "That bike doesn't fit how NC rides. I give it 2 years, max. Lol! BTW, the purpose of a turbocharger in a car is to increase low end torque. The suspension was bouncing you around so much that you said the opposite! Good luck with the new ride. Now the question is, what lasts longer, the Limited or the Octane?
I agree with you on the windshield. Victory here (aus)loan you a bike when you take your's on for a service. I took a magnum home and while i loved it the windshield gave me a massive headache. I could put up with the heavy manoeuvring in a carpark but not the buffeting. Look forward to seeing the new wheels
@@armyretired28 yeah thats what we've been doing here. Didn't buy the magnum (I've got a vegas) but looking at a chieftain or challenger or magnum soon
@@Carcyclechronicles I bought a new magnum in '15 when I was deployed to Iraq.I was wounded there and when I finally got home and finished my rehab a friend I went and picked it up with me! The windshield was the first thing I changed and still love my Vic magnum today,I've put as much as 500+ miles on it in one day trip to Daytona Fl. with no problems...
Wind management? Put a windshield taller than 4" and it will help with your wind management. I absolutely love my XCT, im 6'2" and it actually fits me. I sit on a harley and its like a minibike. It rides like a Cadillac. Till the wheels fall off.
Yeah, for me I didn't so much feel like I was going to drop it. But between the weird clutch, the lack of bottom end torque and the steering effort, it just wasn't fun.
Thanks for your honest opinions in your vids . Bike I'm looking hard at is the 18 Springfield dark horse. I watched your Springfield vid which actually encouraged me to investigate. I like practicing slow speed maneuvers similar to moto cop exercises. Seems most vids they're riding road kings which seem to have great maneuverability/steering. Do you think Springfield dark horse ( 19" front wheel) would be a good bike for these type exercises ? Just love the versatility of being able to quickly take windshield and bags off for stripped down look around town . Thanks, i subscribed
Chopbreaka Hi there. The Springfield is such a great bike. It's fine for parking lot maneuvers. My personal preference for slow speed fun is a Chieftain (a regular one with the 16" wheel) only because the bars are further away from you than on the Springfield and they're spread out more so you have more leverage. BUT, that being said, the Springfield's bars are so much more comfortable for me over time, and there really isn't an issue with them at low speeds. It's like 1 and 1A when it comes to the Chieftain / Springfield at low speeds.
Man if anybody follows with this man is currently talking about sounds more like he likes to hear herself talk because so far what I've heard everything coming out of his mouth as wrong.
Yes, I got another bike a Yamaha Raider so like it, also have a Suzuki C50 love it, a Suzuki S40 a super fun little cruiser love it, and a Yammy Roadstar my workhorse great torque very well built. Now I am barred from getting any more in my stable may have to sell one one of these days but for now I like all of them too much you know what I mean they are all good looking! Now, I know you say where is your Harley and I guess I never had an itch for one but the nightster is tempting for sure and I would also probably love one if I had it too! I can’t get any more have 110 k on my 07 C50 just fits me perfectly especially with that Mustang seat but yes I ride them a lot and do most of my own upkeep have to put fork seals on my S40 just need some time off from work. Anyway getting long in the tooth so ride cautiously and enjoy. eddy cruiser
From what I heard two kits had problems. I also heard those two people had power commanders installed. I think it came down to a poor tune. There is a guy in the I dian group on Facebook with the 116 kit and lodyz 585 cams and he has had no issues.
Jacob James definitely not a tune problem it’s rods the re engineering is being done and it will show us what was the problem. August is the rumor date.
Lol, I’m not surprised at all. The way you loved the Indian. I couldn’t see you on a Vic. I had 3 Vic’s and loved them but my chieftain limited is a whole different bike. Much better low rpm control and torque. Vic’s love to be thrashed and ridden hard. Indians love to cruise.
I know this video is old but I still feel the need to comment lol. Just bought my first bagger this May which is a 2014 all black Victory Cross Country. Im in love with Victory and the modern look they were going for especially on my bike but I gotta say I was also kinda surprised how the 106 kinda leaves me wanting more and the suspension although mostly smooth does kill my spline every once in a while. The rarity comes into play when I spent $1500 on performance parts 2 months ago and i still haven't recieve most of the parts due to backorder. So as of right now my bike is like my wife, lover her to death but she frustrates the hell out of me. I blame China for this also
Heyyy! I'm out of mass too if you ever wanna go for a ride message me I'm almost always down to ride. Have an r1 now but picking up a ctx 1300 from Mom's next week
What you should have spent all that extra money on is a progressive or ohlins suspension.. I put the progs on my 2014 Street Glide and its a night and day difference.
Your hard to listen to partner. I have tested many, but that machine stands out as being one of the better cruizers made. Again my opinion, but I am sure there are a few to stand behind me on that one.
During the time I owned my Victory Vegas Jackpot, my underlying feeling was "the lights are on, but nobody's home." Pretty to look at (except for those cylinders--ugh), but no soul. BTW, a road test suggestion: Moto Guzzi Audace. Ciao bella!
It's very true, Dick... Two of the three Victorys I've owned - both with 106's, just lacked... something. The exception was the Octane. With Vance and Hines Hi-Output Grenades, that thing was a hoot!
I know that it is a commonly held belief that the Cross family of Victorys are terrible at wind management. They are betterwith hard lowers. I understand that the suspension is harsh,( The M8 powered HD tourers will crack a rib). Nothing compares to the plush ride of the roadmaster. As another poster commented, Indian has frozen all sales and installation of the stage 3 116 kits. They have issues with it. Victorys best touring bike with best suspension and wind management is the Vision.
I've ridden the Vision a few times and really do like it, but the two drawbacks for me is that I'm just not a fan of the 106, and the Vision has no storage... it's bizarre for fairings that large!
Dude...get you a pre-owned GL1800 Goldwing about a 2010 model or so. You can find one with low miles for about 10K. The finest touring motorcycle ever made. You'll never own another motorcycle after that!
Not surprised how you go through bikes. Now here is a question? How can you not know this without test riding one? You should change your name to flip rider a bike a year is the goal. 😂😂. You got all factory performance which is very poor performing. Do yourself a favor and get yourself the previous model GL1800. I give the Indian at least 2 Year’s. Dude you are a funny guy. MOMSouth must love you.
Hmm, not really factory performance, no... Power Commander V, Lloydz Timing System, Lloydz Air Filter, Vance and Hines pipes. I can't remember if the cams were Victory or Lloydz. But anyway, it still didn't give me any torque. A bike a year would be a nice slow down for me. I counted the other day and realized I'm at 12 bikes in 6 years :/
Well I've concluded this guy's experience is certainly not the same as mine. And I do think he's a bonehead based on the reasons he has given. But again, that is not my experience at all and I love my X1 (and my 3 other Vics). To each his own, I hope you're happy on your Indian.
I didn't care for the Magnum nor did i like the skinny front wheel. I love my highball and i wanna do a cross country set up without the ferring and a fatter front tire like the Gunner.
Long ride shields has the best flip windshield. Under 100.00 . My 2015 Magnum rides great. Don't add Cam's and timing wheel. I have witch doctor muscle mufflers , and had the bike dyno'd with the Magnus link. Smoothed out 1st and 2nd gears and increased the torque by 12ftlbs without changing any of the internals. Have to say this also, did you not test ride the bike before buying?
The standard cross country handles way better then the magnum,at any speed, and of course the full sized stock windscreen with lowers and the adjustable mid deflectors has better wind management. And it's not lowered, Mine lugs to 1600 rpm just fine for some reason. I've got a lloydz timing wheel at+ 5, I like the legroom on the Vic over the indian. And the cornering. Plus the overhead cams, Have you ridden a 116 Victory ? Oh yeah. But ride the Indian , I think you'da been happy with a hopped up regular cross country. Riding mine today. Enjoy your new Indian ! ;)
I have never owned a victory although I looked at them but I've owned almost everything else but unlike all the negative things said about Harley's all the ones I've owned have been reliable and only my 1974 ironhead leaked any oil my present 05 Dyna has over 50,000 miles with no break downs and never leaked a drop of oil and has been more reliable than my English bikes and Japanese bikes and I've owned 36 different bikes , I thought victory made a pretty good product and knew several owners that were quite upset when they pulled the plug and I don't care for Indians or triumphs being made under long dead badges and actually respected victory for not trying to live off someone else's history and in my opinion they are just tribute bikes. The only bikes being in continuous production for over 115 years are the Royal Enfield and Harley Davidson I would like to build a kiwi Indian because you can replicate exactly the product from Indians heyday . But this is in no way a knock on others ride what you like and be safe
Dude thats funny. I bought my old cross country and sold it for exactly all of the same reasons you have. Ive been moto soul searching had a couple bikes since the vic now after testing a vaquero i bought one saturday out of state waiting on shipment. The indians rock but beyond my price point gotta wait till theyre around longer for older models to get cheap
Sounds like a thinly veiled sales pitch for Indian. Certainly not my experience with the X-1. Test rode the Indians and was not impressed. Get the Indian, but the Vic bashing is unnecessary.
Victory is far better bike then Indian. Victory bikes like to be ridden hard and revved up. Gotta get in it and kick a$$ Doesn’t handle?? 🤣. Don’t tell the cops that. They will bust your ass on that machine. They handle like a dream. I can lay boards in the mountains and in parking lots. You can’t ride for shat..
Gosh, two years later, actually. Nope, not at all. I miss looking at it, but I took pictures and videos while I had it. I don't miss the ride quality, wind management or the lack of bottom end torque. I've owned two Indians since then - a 116 and a 111, and I am super happy with my Chieftain Limited (111.) I see these Magnum X1's for sale at my dealer from time to time, and I always look at them, but I know there are people out there that would appreciate it more than me. The only Victory I'd consider buying would be a Cross Country, but even that would be a stretch.
NightcruiserMA I have a Harley road glide and Im just counting down the days til I can finish the deal on a Indian road master ...I agree with you that magnum is more looks than it is rode comfort but it’s also Still a step above the competition just not for the brand new sticker price but when I see magnums now going for the low teens they are a hell of a deal at that price point
All valid reasons and helped me decide *not* to continue looking for a Magnum or CC. I have a Chieftain Limited - (no 116 upgrade yet) a wonderful bike, although you will find maneuvering at slow speeds can be challenging. Looking forward to hearing about your new bike(s), and hearing your impressions (been trying to hunt down an Octane myself).
Hi Cliff. I've had a couple of Indians - a 2014 Chieftain and a 2015 Roadmaster, and hands down they handle better than Victorys at slower speeds. Heck, I wouldn't even care about that as much if the darned thing didn't scrape at every opportunity... lol.
NightcruiserMA How can you say that? You’ve ridden one version which is a slammed rear/big front wheel Victory and you infer they all handle same. No, just no
The Cross country’s handle at low speeds better than any Harley I’ve owned , and I’ve owned 4 Electra Glides..dude, what is it, you a sport bike rider? You make absolutely no sense, I am absolutely ecstatic about my XCT and will ride it till the wheels fall off.
Well, it's not really a touring bike. It's a "Look At Me" bike (which I generally like... lol) It's not a standard Cross Country. It's slammed and has very little suspension travel The air shock is adjustable but just doesn't leave much room, unfortunately.
I've got nothing against HD. Just haven't had the inkling yet, but will probably look more closely in the future. They're better bikes than I give them credit for.
@@NightcruiserMA Victory's do not require tuning out of the box. Mine was pretty smooth brand new but rings do have to seat in those miles and I guess a sensitive rider would maybe feel it. I only felt it a little but then again the Victory to me felt like riding glass after riding a Harley for years.
bought a bike he didn't like, no big deal. what i don't understand is the contradictions. "love torque, hate turbo cars, owned a few, own one now." /facepalm
Hey there, just to clarify. Yeah, sometimes there can be an issue with a car but you like it even so. In my case, the car I had was an Audi S8, which was a true twin-turbo (not twin-scroll,) and put out, with a couple of mods, over 600 hp and over 500 ft-lbs of torque. So there was very little turbo lag and still made it to 60 in 3 seconds.
Suffice to say that I won't be buying another Polaris product as a result - its back to Harley for me.
the biggest disappointment is not finding parts :(
Never sell a victory. Best bikes ever
Don't blame the bike for your riding short comings.
I didn't. I just blamed the bike for the bike's shortcomings :)
Hasssssssaaa 😅
You said the Vic is too expensive so you buy a 30k Indian. Calling b.s. there. Lol
Hmm... no... I didn't say that. I said the reasons I was holding onto it weren't worth $29k. I didn't enjoy the riding experience. :)
Completely agreed.
Shifts into 4th gear at 35mph:
"Needs more torque"
Yep - Indians have way more torque at any gear. You should try one - they're much smoother.
I think you just have too much money on your hands…I am thinking no matter what bike you buy, you will find flaws 🤔
Glad there are people like yourself out there for people like us, who are patient understanding that nothing is perfect, and let others pay the premiums, while we’ll soak up the resales 😉
Dude! I had the same Hyosung before i bought my 8 ball. I really liked the hyosung!
Frank Wood why didn’t you get an Indian? They are maintained free, air and oil cooled, gear primary, and one oil drain plug.
I would not take this fair weather riders advice. He just told you how small his very first bike was.....this guy is not a rider by any means.
I'm getting ready for your Harley purchase..any day now!!
Nothing against Harleys. I just haven't found the one that moves me yet :)
NightcruiserMA oh yes you are right about the specs change on the magnum. Great videos btw keep up the good work :)
Shoot it already enough whining and self-contradicting:
"I like this bike, I don't like this bike". 💢🌚💫 WTF!!!
Hey. it's what I do :)
If you've never been in a love/hate relationship with a bike, you haven't had enough bikes.
You have no clue about what you have and what you want like most rich people.
If rich = in debt, then I'm guilty... lol. It's true.. I've had a lot of bikes. Guess that's just the way I do it :)
We all know the real reason you're selling it. You finally saw that the dash looked like an expressionless robot face and you couldn't un-see it haha!
lol, it's funny that I never saw it while I owned it, but I see it now! Still, I like it!
After a while that would drive me CRAZYYY
Thanks for ruining it for everyone. That's why we can't have anything nice. Lol
Mitchell Smith. roglmbo!
Goddammit!
Glad i don't like fairings. But damn. Cannot unsee
Oh my. Why am I not surprised. I swear, you seem to change bikes more than my boys change their drawers! LOL!
Keep posting, I love guessing what's next!
I'm glad you didn't ask about me changing my drawers...
Actually, it's the opposite. The looks were the hardest thing to part with. Scraping around the parking lot was easy to part with.
My 8 ball isn't perfect, but i really enjoy riding it!
I understand you dude. Its just so Fn Beautiful. Dont think any bike ever made is that good looking. Hard to overcome.
Yep - but I'm glad I made the videos anyway so I can go back and look at it!
After some time, I turned off the volume to not hear your BS and kept enjoying looking at that beautiful Vic.
Ride safe.
I came very close to buying a Springfield - I've already recorded a video talking about why I didn't pull the trigger on it. Just have to publish it!
I would really like to see it.
Brian Beck sounds like they ride the 1600 Gtl’s that’s what I’m interested in
All I know is I loved that exhaust sound, but there was no mention what brand slip ons???
Those new limiteds are sharp looking bikes
I wish that I had bought this bike from you. Probably would have been my last bike. Unless Indian came out with something that I couldn't live without.
I didn't watch the video but the 116 was recalled. Do yourself a favour spend the extra go to lloydz in New York and have him do his 116. I'm beside myself with grief for the X1 though lol. It's really the bike I want one day but the 15 or 16 model. That said my Hammer with air rode doesn't bother me at all and I'm light weight lol. Underdrive pulley is awesome with these Victory bikes too
I meant whole video yet, when I heard 116 I panicked stopped video and had to comment...
Thank you. I did a full track day with my 116 and nothing blew up. Well, so far. But I know of the recall!
Actually, a supercharger in a car increases low end torque. A turbocharger has to spool up and adds mid-high range horsepower. :)
I agree with you on the windshield. Victory here (aus)loan you a bike when you take your's on for a service. I took a magnum home and while i loved it the windshield gave me a massive headache.
I could put up with the heavy manoeuvring in a carpark but not the buffeting. Look forward to seeing the new wheels
add a taller windshield you'd be loving it then!
@@armyretired28 they're alot harder to grab here. Cross country is more common, enjoy
Wind management? Put a windshield taller than 4" and it will help with your wind management. I absolutely love my XCT, im 6'2" and it actually fits me. I sit on a harley and its like a minibike. It rides like a Cadillac. Till the wheels fall off.
Hey, that's great! I love the XCT too. Unfortunately this is not an XCT.
The low speed handling put me off. The way it just suddenly wants to drop. Lovely on the run but if I owned one I know I would have dropped it by now!
Yeah, for me I didn't so much feel like I was going to drop it. But between the weird clutch, the lack of bottom end torque and the steering effort, it just wasn't fun.
Had the exact same issues with my Cross Country. I'm so glad I got rid of it.
NightcruiserMA plenty of bottom end on my 2011 Jackpot!!
NightcruiserMA Thanks for helpful reply . Looking forward to review on your New Indian..
Did you ever get rid of the head buffering wind screen?
Beautiful bike there, didn't even have it long enough to get it broken in.on to the next one will love to see the indian.ride safe, Be Blessed.
Thank you. Story of my life!
Nice video. I bought a new Harley last year and regret it. What's the best way to get rid of a one year old bike? Craigslist?
Love Victory bikes!
Man if anybody follows with this man is currently talking about sounds more like he likes to hear herself talk because so far what I've heard everything coming out of his mouth as wrong.
Well, *somebody* has to like to hear me talk! :)
What are the Mirrors? I see they are Ness,,, Rad 2 or Rad 3,,, Part # would be great Please...
Isn’t there a stop sale on the 116 kits. Some engines blew up. I believe it’s getting re engineered.
Yep. No 116 sales until at least August.
My 116 survived a hot day at the track... so far, so good!
It is a beautiful bike
Lol, I’m not surprised at all. The way you loved the Indian. I couldn’t see you on a Vic. I had 3 Vic’s and loved them but my chieftain limited is a whole different bike. Much better low rpm control and torque. Vic’s love to be thrashed and ridden hard. Indians love to cruise.
Yep, I've had 3 Vics as well. I guess they're just not my thing though.
Now you are talking! 116 Indian ... really curious about the bottom end torque. Hope to see a review if possible.
You'll actually be very interested to hear what I've found about the bottom end torque on the 116. Stay tuned!
NightcruiserMA That will be a very interesting video. Keep me coming!
Maybe a Honda Grom would be more your speed. You could ride it for a week and then sell it for a riding mower or a go cart.😊
lmao......
Hehehe.... that sounds like fun. I actually sat on one of those a few weeks ago. I never knew that were literally as small as they are. Wow!
Your hard to listen to partner. I have tested many, but that machine stands out as being one of the better cruizers made. Again my opinion, but I am sure there are a few to stand behind me on that one.
I have no doubts that I'm in the minority, but it's my opinion. That's what makes the world go 'round :) Ride safe.
And you are right there. You ride safe also. ☺
That big skinny front wheel is why it handles bad at low speeds. A smaller wider wheel would do wonders
During the time I owned my Victory Vegas Jackpot, my underlying feeling was "the lights are on, but nobody's home." Pretty to look at (except for those cylinders--ugh), but no soul. BTW, a road test suggestion: Moto Guzzi Audace. Ciao bella!
Dick Singer.... I have my 2008 Vic jackpot and my 2012 Flhtk...... love my Vic!!
The side bags on the Vision are small but you adapt. The trunk, however is competitive in capacity. Ride what you like brother. It's your prerogative.
Dude...get you a pre-owned GL1800 Goldwing about a 2010 model or so. You can find one with low miles for about 10K. The finest touring motorcycle ever made. You'll never own another motorcycle after that!
I need sound! I need V-twin sound! :)
Yea,I thought you should have kept the Ind iui an,Victiry WAS awesome, but the Ind oh an was really a stunner.....
Its kind of funny that all the reasons you are getting rid of it was brought up by myself and others on your videos before you bought the bike.
Ha! I just traded a 2018 chieftain for a 2016 x1 them Indians have more bells and whistles but they suck so bad.
Did you mean the Maximus tuner? A lot of people are foregoing the cams/PC-V/timing wheel for the Maximus tuner these days.
Bob M Yes, forgot the name. Really woke my bike up.
Enjoy your new Indian ! ;)
I have never owned a victory although I looked at them but I've owned almost everything else but unlike all the negative things said about Harley's all the ones I've owned have been reliable and only my 1974 ironhead leaked any oil my present 05 Dyna has over 50,000 miles with no break downs and never leaked a drop of oil and has been more reliable than my English bikes and Japanese bikes and I've owned 36 different bikes ,
I thought victory made a pretty good product and knew several owners that were quite upset when they pulled the plug and I don't care for Indians or triumphs being made under long dead badges and actually respected victory for not trying to live off someone else's history and in my opinion they are just tribute bikes.
The only bikes being in continuous production for over 115 years are the Royal Enfield and Harley Davidson
I would like to build a kiwi Indian because you can replicate exactly the product from Indians heyday .
But this is in no way a knock on others ride what you like and be safe
Just wasnt for you. Hope you found "that bike" that you're crazy about! Safe riding!
You will regret vaquero purchase.....no Power......period.
How did you sell the Magnum so fast?
That area looks like western MA around Easthampton am I right?
Mr. 1000 CC Foxboro, MA actually :)
Sounds like a thinly veiled sales pitch for Indian. Certainly not my experience with the X-1. Test rode the Indians and was not impressed. Get the Indian, but the Vic bashing is unnecessary.
Not bashing at all. It's a fine bike... just not my style. I feel like I'm allowed to say what I think about bikes I own :)
Victory is far better bike then Indian. Victory bikes like to be ridden hard and revved up. Gotta get in it and kick a$$
Doesn’t handle?? 🤣. Don’t tell the cops that. They will bust your ass on that machine. They handle like a dream. I can lay boards in the mountains and in parking lots. You can’t ride for shat..
Only thing making this watchable is the bike. Miss my 11 XC, But love my 17 magnum. Victory made some fine bikes. Went from HD to Victory.
I think my jacket sleeves help the watchability, too 😊
You rode the Indian and you were sold? For how long? 6 months to a year? :)
Hey hey hey... lol... I had my first Chieftain for a year and my Roadmaster for two years, darn it... lol
@@NightcruiserMA just kidding I have the same problem.
So here we are a year later , do you regret your decision to sell it ?
Gosh, two years later, actually. Nope, not at all. I miss looking at it, but I took pictures and videos while I had it. I don't miss the ride quality, wind management or the lack of bottom end torque. I've owned two Indians since then - a 116 and a 111, and I am super happy with my Chieftain Limited (111.) I see these Magnum X1's for sale at my dealer from time to time, and I always look at them, but I know there are people out there that would appreciate it more than me. The only Victory I'd consider buying would be a Cross Country, but even that would be a stretch.
NightcruiserMA I have a Harley road glide and Im just counting down the days til I can finish the deal on a Indian road master ...I agree with you that magnum is more looks than it is rode comfort but it’s also
Still a step above the competition just not for the brand new sticker price but when I see magnums now going for the low teens they are a hell of a deal at that price point
@@Tripp216 Very true! Good luck with your Roadmaster! They're great bikes.
I love my Victory
Yes, but an XCT is different from the X1. I love the XCT as well!
Ev just curious are you going to try a mother road spring saddle or ultimate seat on your new chieftain?
29k. and the controls look like they came off a snow mobile
That ash looks like the face of a killer robot ready to jum pat you and kill you
You don't have break in mileage on it yet.
Does Sally still have the bike you bought her?
Absolutely. She loves it. She's not as fickle as I am... lol
How can a touring bike have such a rough suspension?? Doesn't it adjust?
Well, it's not really a touring bike. It's a "Look At Me" bike (which I generally like... lol) It's not a standard Cross Country. It's slammed and has very little suspension travel The air shock is adjustable but just doesn't leave much room, unfortunately.
2018 HD Heritage Softail 114
I've got nothing against HD. Just haven't had the inkling yet, but will probably look more closely in the future. They're better bikes than I give them credit for.
420 miles? He has not even seated the rings yet. It is no wonder the bike a little jerky at 5mph.
Nah, every other bikes I've owned is fine from Day 1. It's just the way it was tuned.
Remember that Indians today are just more expensive victorys
They share exactly zero components. They're about as related as band-aids and Splenda.
bought a bike he didn't like, no big deal.
what i don't understand is the contradictions.
