I never been a fan of heli drops or paradrops honestly in war games like this. It just never seems to get the impact you desire and quickly fizzle out. They always seem to lack the punching power to grab vital spots of the map or victory zones you need to capture since the enemy normally parks half their armour near or on such VPs. And most of the time enemy AA units or airpower makes such drops impossible or too costly for the trade off. Even when used as rear raiding forces instead I tend to find Airdropped Infantry or light vehicles never really are worth the expense or rarely have any real impact on the overall battle. Or this just me being too cynical?
I think it's down to how people deploy them, if you drop troops straight onto a capture point guarded by enemy units they'll die, if you fly your planes/helos straight at the opponent's main concentration of forces they'll die, but lots of players seem to think that's what they're supposed to do with them. And if you drop stuff well behind your lines then their air transport capability is largely wasted. You need to safely drop your units in a flanking position some distance from the enemy and give them a minute to land and regroup on the ground before moving into combat with them. And airborne units are light and poorly armored, so they can't just charge in by themselves against a heavily defended area, but you can do things like what happened to Vulcan at the end of the video, like sneak manpads right under the enemy's air spawn, or get recon and ATGMs around to watch the enemy's lines of reinforcement so you can cut off their units defending a point. Or you can surprise attack a poorly defended back point.
The main issue with most "wargames like this" is that paratroopers are usually a single, specific unit with single, specific capabilities, so they get countered hard by anything that is not their intended, specific target. Broken Arrow is somewhat different in that instead of having a unit of paratroopers, you have several different units that can be paradropped. For example: if I wanted to paradrop units in Wargame Red Dragon (there is no such mechanic, but imagine there was), chances are I would only be able to paradrop something like the British SAS and Airborne. In this game, off the top of my head, US Marine Corps can paradrop: - Snipers (recon) - Force Recon (small recon unit that can do CQC good or distance combat) - Marine Raiders (Force Recon on steroids and more numerous, also can be fitted for CQC or distance combat) - Jeeps with TOW/grenade launchers/.50cal machineguns - Supply LAVs - Mortar LAVs - TOW LAVs - Autocannon LAVs
@@xeroprotagonist That is true, but most players deploy them like they deploy airborne in Company of heroes, right on the enemies head. In Warno or Wargame you try to do this and you end up in the enemies AA or sights. I've really seen it done right, so I stay away from airborne troops.
@@RomanHistoryFan476AD I think it's not that hard to do helo drops in Warno/Wargame, the maps aren't so small that AA coverage blocks every possible path to the enemy rear, especially if you fly along a map edge/over water/over mountains. I've seen a number of game-winning helo drops in pro matches on Two Lakes recently, for example, where you can fly in over water and seize a zone that gives you a ground spawn. It seems easier, cheaper, and more rewarding in Broken Arrow though where you can load multiple squads and a vehicle in a tough and fast heavy transport helo like a King Stallion, and you can equip attack helos with SEAD missiles in case they do have some AA near your landing zone. I bet big drops will be a common tactic eventually in this game.
the game looks dope but I cant stand that the russian side is basically fantasy at this point. Su57 and armata tanks with functional aps systems etc. While I get they want to have a balanced game but they would get it if they just implemented them like the Zergs they are instead of trying to mirror the US or Nato with high quality systems instead of masses of old junk with some more modern systems sprinkeld in
It's a video game, it doesn't need to be one to one with real life unless it's a simulator. Video games as a medium are great for exploring what-ifs, letting equipment that never saw service or had limited service be used, like the COMVAT in Wargame Red Dragon. Never saw use, but the game allows players to use it.
@@diobrando2575 I know it's a video game, but if only one side is fantasy based in a game that tries to be somewhat serious and realistic, it becomes immersion breaking.
@@robiiify The US doesn't really have a problem of producing advanced equipment in large numbers though like Russia does, meaning there's nothing you could add for them. You COULD argue Abrams X but that's just a demonstrator, the T-14 has more than one made and has had trials. I also wouldn't argue a game where tanks have healthbars is realistic. To put it bluntly, it's a somewhat arcadey game set in a fictional conflict, it's perfectly fine to not stick to IRL TO&E. If you want to see something closer to IRL Russia, go play Combat Mission Black Sea.
Fantasy? Are you out of your mind? Su 57 and T 14 exist and arent gimmick irl. Yes, there arent too many units produced for now but to speak about it as fantasy its stupid.
As boydj said, it's a UK based company. Even then, every product you buy that's made in China goes to support a regime that abuses it's people, has reeducation centers for a certain religious minority, claims control over Taiwan and constantly threatens it with invasion, and is aggressively claiming territory in the South China sea, even making artificial islands to further that goal, so even IF your money was going to a Russian company, almost everything you purchase goes to a nation just as bad. Not to mention China is close with Iran and is rumored to have aided their weapons programs (Iran has sent drones and missiles to Russia to help them, and Iran is a state sponsor of terrorism having armed, trained, financed, and supported in every way terrorist groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, Yemen's Houthis who are currently attacking shipping in the Red Sea and are holding 25 people hostage after hijacking their ship). So if not supporting evil efforts is your main goal, you can do a whole lot more. Buying this game even IF it would support the Russian war effort would be a drop in the bucket.
Well, they have too if you want the game to be fun. Also Russian equipment isn't necessarily bad. Its mainly the lack of all the good equipment, and the poor use of logistics in their combat. And the way that Russia utilizes its equipment is very subpar to what it should be.

Co thusa gaidheal righ ???
That'd be me ;)
I haven't been able to get on yet hope I can after I get off work today. Is there anyone wanting to help a person that has never played out.
New games like this makes me wonder if we ever going to see realistic things like massed charges with poorly equipped, drunk soldiers from Russia
Shame my pc cant run this it has 8 gb ram , amd rx 2500 U and 4 gb rx 560x
Wargame PC but in 2024
I wish thers ww2 mods
disable mirror matchs.
the game looks dope but I cant stand that the russian side is basically fantasy at this point. Su57 and armata tanks with functional aps systems etc. While I get they want to have a balanced game but they would get it if they just implemented them like the Zergs they are instead of trying to mirror the US or Nato with high quality systems instead of masses of old junk with some more modern systems sprinkeld in
just no lol...
Jesus Loves You
this is just a shitier version of warno
it really is and not even that cool, who wants to play with 1 plane and 1 recon unit when u could have massive battles
why's the game so uglyyyy
made by russians.dont give money to russians
wash your eyes man !!
Cause you didn't pay them 100 billion $. So they don't have the budget to properly model and animate horse testicles.
it’s really bad graphics
@@revolutioninformationburea6719 oh now that makes sense I thought it was the sound design
Shame buying this game would support the russian economy and their war effort, looks so good! BUT, I must resist
It’s a UK based company bro
Not the developer, which is
Steel Balalaika and based in russia@@boydj14
Publisher is UK based, but it seems the developers are based in russia
Supporting ANY war economy is bad.
Think about it for a minute.
more and more these games depicting a "strong" russia is getting funnier and funnier lol
Well, they have too if you want the game to be fun. Also Russian equipment isn't necessarily bad. Its mainly the lack of all the good equipment, and the poor use of logistics in their combat. And the way that Russia utilizes its equipment is very subpar to what it should be.
ahaha clown
They're stronger than you'll ever be. Cope. Your name will die as soon as you do. Russia's won't.
good thing warno nerfed the shit out of russia
do not play games from Russian developers do not support modern fascism
It reminds me of something, but Atomic hard was also said that, but in the end Atomic hard sold out a lot. Well, what can I say, shout further so that the game is canceled, but it seems to me that you will be in the gap again
I hope this skirmish mode will also be available in single player mode.
