Greyhounds and the Spanish Galgos are so suffering from human's greed unfairness and violence. And all of them have such sweet and gentle personalities...

I’ve met a few rescues who’s spirit seemed completely broken. 😞 It is so good to see more effort put into rejuvenating these greyhound’s spirit, step by step, one day at a time! 👏 🐶❤
It's heartbreaking to see the impact that the racing industry can have on greyhounds, but it's truly heartwarming to witness the transformation and resilience of these incredible dogs. Through patience, love, and understanding, their spirits can be rejuvenated, allowing them to embrace a new life filled with joy and companionship. Kudos to the efforts made to restore their spirits and give them the love they deserve! 🐶❤️🥰

my uncle has adopted many rescued greyhounds, and i can attest, they are such gentle, sweet dogs. they all deserve a much better life than the racing world gives them.
That's wonderful to hear about your uncle adopting rescued greyhounds! They are indeed gentle and sweet dogs who deserve a loving and fulfilling life outside of the racing industry. It's heartening to see people like your uncle providing them with the care, compassion, and better life they deserve. 🤗
Greyhounds have a wonderful life while racing. They are loved, spoiled and get the best care. They love to race, it's a game for them. Take racing away and there will be no retire racers to adopt. If it wasn't for the wonderful care they get and the racing industry, the population of greyhounds would decline and adopting them would be very hard to do. There is a shortage of available retired greyhounds now.
You’ve clearly never visited a racing kennels. Racing greyhounds stay with their moms longer than pets are allowed to and grow up running, playing and exploring with their siblings. They enjoy a myriad of activities while Racing
Greyhound faces would have to be one of the sweetest in the world, they’re so regal yet adorable. It’s a travesty they’re mistreated in racing circles, I hope the industry is abolished. Till then, thanks to all the wonderful people who put so much into their rescue, rehabilitation and homing❤❤❤.
@petrahoffman6840 What do greyhounds go through? Do you really know? What kind of care do they get? What kennel have you been to to see "what they go through?"
@elizabethtaylor3779 Greyhounds don't have a terrible life. They have a wonderful life. Their 1st 14 months of their life is spent at the farms playing with their siblings and just being puppies. They don't learn to race until they are fully grown, about 14 or 15 months. They get the best care and love from their handlers until they are retired. They absolutely love to race or they wouldn't. They are never forced to race. It's impossible to force a greyhound to do anything.
For someone to be banned for being abusive (in an already abusive industry), you know their previous owner was a real awful person. The fact that these dogs can learn to trust again, after living their entire lives with bad humans, is an absolute miracle ❤️🩹
It's heartbreaking to think about the abuse these dogs endured in the racing industry, but it's truly remarkable to witness their resilience and capacity to trust again. My cousin Ian and his wife have had two ex racing greyhounds as well and they were the most loving souls. Finn , the last one, passed away about a year ago and they miss him every day.
It’s a terrible industry here in the UK. Dogs routinely killed once they get old. My brother adopted one who was malnourished and almost toothless. He had a lovely life for his last 5 years…
Many years ago, we adopted a pair of retired racing greyhounds, and indeed they were very timid and basically confused at first, and did not know how to be pet dogs at all. Gradually, over a couple of months, they relaxed and bonded with us. During the night, the taller one, Timmy, used to burrow under the blankets, starting from the foot of the bed, working his way up, and by morning he was tightly snuggled between my wife and me. We still miss them.
We have never had a greyhound but my wife is paralyzed needing a wheelchair so she uses a mobility dog to pull her which have all been rescues. Usually mastiff breeds but our newest one since she had to retire our Boerboel due to age (13) and health reasons is an Anatolian Shepherd. Your greyhounds remind me so much of ours from our Boerboel who is terrified of storms due to being abandoned in the Florida everglades as a pup and catching a glancing blow from a lightning strike to both the Boerboel and Anatolian sleeping in bed with my wife and I. You all are truly blessed
I always have one or two adopted giants, usually Great Danes. I never tried a Greyhound because they seem very frail and sensitive and I also always have a “difficult” one that I bought, like a Caucasian Ovcharka or an Alabai. One day I’ll try to help a hound.
@rogervanbrunt, Greyhounds are never treated cruelly. They can't race if they are. Don't believe pictures you see. Greyhounds are not used for food. Every greyhound is registered and can be traced to every group they go to after they are retired. None are killed and none go missing.
You can't imagine life without them huh? Well, if it wasn't for racing, you would never have them. They weren't rescued, they were retired. They were nervous because they were taken away from the life they knew and loved and put into a strange new place with strange people. Every retired racing greyhound is nervous with their tails tucked and ears back when they go to a new home. They weren't abused at all. Abused greyhounds can't race. They were loved from the day they were born until they were adopted. Injuries at the tracks are very rare and mostly consist of broken nails or a dislocated toe. More adopted greyhounds suffer injuries than racing greyhounds. They make such excellent, loving pets because of the love and care they get at the kennels. They just don't automatically become sweet, lovable dogs when they retire. It's been instilled in them from birth. Learn the real truth about greyhounds and racing.
Love greyhounds but they have terrible gas from their racetrack diets. Definitely have to work with the vet to get their bellies healed. I pray there is not more racetrack running. It is cruel.
