Both of these villages are very near the old Mirpur shair. My mother told us the horrible partion of 1947, where innocent people died from both sides. I would love to entertain old Mirpuri people who had left in difficult circumstances.

They killed Muslim population, burnt our houses and made us homeless. Jammu massacre is yet another horrible story of 1947. Wish we could have treated each other as human beings rather than Hindu or Muslim. Please convey my deep inner feelings to this old couple as I feel sorry for them from other side of the LOC. Indeed this should have never happened in the first place

Ye maa ji jo jagah bata re hain gummay na kass mai us village ka hi hoon. Mai gummay na kass mein rehta hoon. Ali baigh humaray ghar se 20 mint door hai. Aur mirpur bhi gummay na kass ke paas hai 30 mint ki drive hai.
kasguma is around 10 km east of mirpur.. ppl left mirpur for jammu so they came towards kasgumma ( gume na kas) to reach jammu through the jungles but they were captured at kasgumma and sorrounding areas. then they were brought to ali baig kamp. some women were left behind in this area.. n got married here.. these women visited the jammu later in 2000s.
The 'cruel Raja' of Kas Gumma the old lady is referring to is Raja Afzal Khan Chib. Afzal Khan was the major tout of Dogra Hari Singh in Mirpur district. He served Hari Singh as governor of Jammu and Kas Gumma was awarded to him as a jagir. Afzal Khan was despised as a traitor and Dogra collaborator by the Muslims of Mirpur. It seems in the end he turned on the Hindus he once served so loyally.

I wasn’t around at that time but I know my grandad was a biggest Muslim land owner from mohara pelraj and biggest land owner was Bakashi Bharaman. Just before partition Bakashi sold his land to my Grandad. My grandad neighbour was well known Hakim Baba Singh and when he wanted to leave for Jammu my grandad sent 6 people with him to Escort him to the Border after he insisted to go. Also there was a lot of poverty among Muslim population because they had to pay taxes for ruler to pay back his loans.
