Just have to fine-tune the material of the various rollers. (as the stems have an approximately uniform thickness that needs to be cut through, a machine can do that. the extraction can be done between a pair of rollers, followed by another set to bundle the fibers. Use solar powered steam or the like to dry (could use heated rollers), and a few seconds later, the silk thread is in an auto-loom that weaves it into fabric. Downside? All lakes would be cleared of lotus stems within a single lotus season. But hey, that is the price of efficient manufacturing.
