In 1979 when the hostage thing happened I was in the 7th grade. My best friend at the time was a wonderful Iranian girl who had recently immigrated to the US. We used to talk about the hostage situation and she was as upset by it as I was. I am fascinated by the middle east in many aspects. Thank you for this enlightening video!

Just to be clear, Persian and Iranian are not synonymous terms. Persians are the dominant ethnic group in Iran, but there are also Iranians belonging to the Azerbaijani, Armenian, Afghan, Baluchi, Kurd, Lurs and Arab ethnicities. And I agree, many Iranians are very hospitable and progressive.

As a Greek, Iran/Persia is a special country due to its unique history and culture, even in school we learn about Persian civilization and the Greco-Persian wars so we view Persia as a glorious country. So, I get annoyed when they confuse Iran or Turkey with Arabs cause they are not. But their cultures have been altered by the Arabs. The reason why people mistake Iran or Turkey for Arabs is because of the religion and fanaticism, deal with it, as long as you support !slam so desperately making it a part of your society, culture and politics you will be confused with Arabs. During Kemals rule in Turkey, where he abandoned religion and focus on western values, none dared to refer to them as Arabs, but now they are viewed differently. Same with Iran since the revolution.

yes, after Arabs invasion we become Muslim, but the Persian culture, language and identity is still there. The Arabs were only able to take control of Persia (Iran) for a while, which was not without problems for them. But never succeded destroy our PERSIAN identity!!!! Between all the places that the Arabs conquered, Iran was the only country that was able to survive. Now we have our own language (Persian) after 3000 years, also Iranian culture is still alive!!! All the annual festivals that Iranians celebrate, such as -Nowruz, -Sadeh Festival -Charshanbe Suri -Sizdeh Bedar -Mehrgan Festival -Yalda Night have Persian Zoroastrian roots, which are still popular and held in Iran. Also, things like architecture, dance, cooking, traditional music and other things are all of Iranian origin and still exist. The only thing that has completely changed are religion and Persian alphabet, which is written in Arabic script, but still the Arabs do not understand our writings. unfortunately these things do not include other places, Other places conquered by Arabs such as: Egypt, Mesopotamia (Iraq), Syria, Lebanon, became totally Arabized, and their cultures and langues were forgotten. They also embraced Arab Islam, while Iranians developed their own version of Islam (Shia) wich is an mix of Islam and iranian culture.
An Iranian actually told me that they, to my surprise, do NOT like hearing us refer to their language as "Farsi," but as "Persian," saying it would be like calling Spanish "español" while speaking English.
I'm always amazed that stuff like this has to be explained to so many people. Did the education system fail people so miserably? We learnt stuff like this at school fifty yrs ago.

I remember when me and my brother went on a trip to Thailand (we are 50/50 iranian/swedish descent born & raised as christians) and there was one aussie guy asking us our nationality. When we mentioned the word "iranian" he instantly replied "Oh so you're arab." Where my brother instantly replied "Hey don't call me an arab." I can't blame them though. It's like people believeing Irak and Iran is the same. The arab label is hard to dodge if you are of middle eastern origin. The muslim label is also hard to dodge as a middle easterner if you don't wear a cross necklace. Hopefully people will educate themselves about middle east in the future.

Not a good example. Because Chinese, Japanese and Koreans are very close, and related. Strong resemblance of one another, physical traits, alone speak volumes. And most of them haven't been mixed. In the Middle East you see different features. I've traveled to East Asia, and there was no way , that I could tell the difference between Chinese, South Korean and Japanese. The only way to distinguish between them is by language.

This was very enlightening for me. I’m embarrassed to say I’m over 60 and there’s some very basic things about people in the world and history. I never really understood well if at all. I remember spending the day in Mexico at our anthropological museum in Mexico City with a docent And he gave me the tour and then we went to the big plaza and at the end of our day I asked him how many times did I offend you today? You see in our ignorance we say things, and we don’t even realize how offensive they could actually be because we just don’t have the understanding or knowledge. Most people are very compassionate and generous about our ignorance, but really Americans can be lazy about the outside world. I grew up in Los Angeles and after the fall of the Shaw, there was a very large group of professional Iranians, who moved to the Los Angeles area mostly in Westwood near UCLA and they have a very successful community there. They’re fully integrated into California American life, and it would be very difficult to point one out really because they just look like Americans. I’ve always found them to be very interested in education, very well, mannered and often going into good professions.
Half of my family is Iranian, in LA. They are not fully integrated. We Americans are not ignorant, we are observant. The man was The Shah, not a guy named Shaw. They look nothing like Americans. They very much show the symptoms of growing up in a totalitarian society. Some are successful in LA only because they are as value-free and shallow as native Angelinos. Above all, they are Muslims when push comes to shove. Having said that, you sound like a bigger problem than they.
Well, that's not something exclusive about _"Americans being lazy about the outside world";_ that actually occurs with people from other cultures as well. Say in my case, I am from Colombia, I am studying in Canada and my roommate is actually from Iran. We normally get along but I have found that he's very sensitive to everything related to his country and culture whereas he doesn't show any minimal interest or respect towards other cultures. For example, he gets upset even if someone simply asks him if Iranians are similar to Arabs, Kurds or Turks but he keeps confusing my nationality with Mexico, Spain or Brazil under the excuse that _"we are all the same the same 'shoot'"._ Also, if you ask him how to say something in Farsi, he will expect you to pronounce that in perfect Farsi as if you were a native speaker and he will still tell how much you s speaking his language with comments like *_"Seriously? Aren't you able to make that consonantal sound? What kind of sounds then you have in French?"_* even when he doesn't speak English that well and sometimes it's hard to understand him due to his thick accent and a lisp that he particularly has. Oh, and with respect to the *_"What kind of sounds then you have in French?"_* That is because he tends to confuse 'Spanish' and 'French' so if I correct him and tell him that I speak Spanish, not French, then he gets defensive and says something like *_"who cares, seriously? French, Spanish, whatever... You understood what I meant and French and Spanish are the same 'shoot' anyway..."_* I don't know, the more I have lived with him, the less interested I have become towards his culture. I would definitely be more understanding towards him if he showed at least a minimal interest to other cultures than his own. And just in case, I do not mind being confused with a Mexican, Brazilian or Spaniard since we share a lot of things. However, it really bothers me that he expects everyone to be super educated about his country when he does not do the minimal effort towards any other culture. Oh, and in case it's not clear, every time I wrote _'shoot',_ that's not the word he actually uses.
Iran, Kurdistan, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, Egypt, Sudan, Somalia, Lybia, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Comoros and Mouritania are definitely NOT Arabs. Some of these countries adopted the Arabic as an official language after independence (20th Century), and some did not, but that does not make these countries/nationd Arabs. The Arabs (geographically, ethnically and culturally) are The Arabia : Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Bahrain, the Emirates and Yemen.
They don't speak Arabic in Iran & Islam was forced upon them by Arab invaders. Today 80% of Iranian population do not follow islam. Its the truth of their secrets society.
Educating myself before I get involved in any 'conversations' about the present issues between west USA/UK/ISRAEL and the middle east. It's so easy to let the media distort our view of this months 'enemy', remembering humanity and culture exists, always, outside of the bitter anger of politics and religion. We never changed it. We have always called our homeland Iran. Europeans used to call us Persia (following the romans and greeks) so we asked them to call us by our real name.

@johnnyboy1586 Calling Iran 'Persia' would alienate all the none Persian ethnic groups in Iran and could even lead to the country to Balkanize. Think of Iran like a Middle Eastern version of Yugoslavia. They're both made up of a bunch of colesely related ethinic groups that speak somewhat similar languages but with a single ethnicity that dominates all the other ones, with Serbs dominating Yugoslavia and Persians dominating Iran. Persians need the rest of Iran to work with them if they wanna maintain whats left of their historic empire, so they'd always go out of their way to make the other Iranians (Kurds, Azeris, Turkmen, Arabs, etc.) feel included.🤷🏾

It is true that except they share the same religious belief, as society or ethnic groups, they don't have common background. One of the main reason people confuse to see Iran as an Arab nation is that because the country is located within the Middle East bordered and nearby the Arab nations and its dominant religion is Islam. Also, due to Islamic and Arabic culture influences, the country abandoned its own ancient alphabets and uses Arabic writing alphabets.

My teacher prefers to say her language is Persian. She felt it reflected to ppl how it is an classical world language like saying Greek and that insisting foreigners call it Farsi erased that and made it seem more like a local language of a new developing area. I guess because everyone has heard of and impressed by Persia.
I find Iranians to be highly cultured and well educated people. My best friend is Persian and she is not religious at all, she totally blames it on the oppressive Muslim government. Widely enough she is attracted to western christian people. She is open minded and she is ADAMANTly against islam creeping into Western culture. We had our children together. Now there are certain ethnic groups she cannot stand, like Arabs and some south Asian cultures. I am Caribbean so my family is literally the United Nations so I have Arab, White, South Asian and Asian family. She is one of my best buddies and if anything happened to me I would trust my children with her. She knows my secrets and I know hers. We share a Turkish friend who does not like Arabs either. Weirdly I am the one that is constantly challenging their beliefs both of them tell me look Arabs are racists as are most Muslims. They tell it to me like Fact, not up for discussion. Both of them tag team on their dislike for muslim practices and constantly tell me if Muslims were running this country the whole place would sink into their cultural muslim abyss. I tell them Christian are restrictive too. They respond to me, you have no idea what a restrictive faith is like to live in. They are the biggest protectors of Western culture!
I’ve always been fascinated by Iran. Always. Ever since I met an Iranian exchange student back when I was maybe 8 in Ireland. She was my first ‘crush’. Damn she was so cool. Then again we were 8. I always wish I could get in touch with her somehow. Anyway, since then I’ve always paid attention to the Iranians. They are far more liberal, well educated, intelligent, good solid people than many around them. Their powerful leaders seem to act the opposite to the people. I hope one day Europeans and Iranians can be somehow United in our aspersions of wanting a good life.

The word “Iran” literally translates to “Land of Aryans” which is derived from Aryanam (the plural form in Avestan) an early Iranian language. Iran literally do not translate to Land of Aryan. Arya is a Sanskrit world which means nobleman who live in Aryavarta - the land of aryans. That is Jambudvīpa or Bharat. My family and i are Christian apostates from Goa, who has recently converted to Hinduism like 5 years ago( my ancestral faith). I say this, because Iran is talked mostly positively in the Bible, despite being Zorastrian/Magi at the time of their domination on Jews. Now, i have truly become an Aryan( not the Nazi one, but the real deal). Even in Hindu literature, the northern Indians are called Aryans and North India is called Aryavrat( composed some 5k years ago). But, it was hard for me to count Iranians into Aryan, because of their Arabic culture and Northern Hindus are the purest Aryans( i mean, they follow true Aryan culture aka Hinduism, i have always believed). And, Hinduism does share many parallels with Zorastrianism and other European pre-Christian faiths. We are very very different tho, most Northern Hindu aka Aryan women dont cover their head( men and women are supposed to be equal) like men, but wear flowers, ribbons and gold ornaments on the hair. In contrast, most Iranians, irrespective of religion cover their head in black abayas( not that it is a bad thing but ok, its Arab/Muslim culture). But, language is what connect us, if not culture and i am proud as an Aryan/Hindu( only Hindus are Aryans in India, rest other have questionable genealogies) that Persian can stand the onslaught of Arabic and be alive to this day( where most Muslim languages are worthless or rootless ones, except Arabic). Once you get a high paying job and become independent, just convert to Sanathan Dharma. Plus there is no conversion criteria in Sanathan. You may simply start visiting temples and listen to the speeches of various hindu saints. You might have to change your personal details though.

Correction: The correct name of the language is called Persian not Farsi. It’s called an endonym which is a name that people of a certain place and language call themselves. For example, the endonym of Germany is Deutschland, because that is what Germans call their country, and Germans call themselves and their language Deutsch.

Iran's population is considered 51% "Persian", with the other 49% consisting of many ethnicities (to include Arabs, but these are a small minority, mostly in Khuzestan Province).
I've seen arguments that Azeris are also ethnic Iranians who just switched to speaking Turkish. This, based on the existence of "old Azeri" documents which are in an Iranian dialect.

When I was in school, I was taught that Iran was Persian and not Arab and that they differed in religion and language. Maybe your education was lacking but it’s part of the American curriculum. An interesting information about the Persian language and its evolution for those interested You must have heard that 30 to 40% of the words in the Persian language that is used now are Arabic. But it is interesting to know even so, many of these Arabic words that are available have their Persian versions too and they can be used on Arabic or Persian. For example the word (word) VAJEH in Persisn and the KALAMEH in Arabic, or (hello)SALAM in Arabic and DORUD in Persian, (sorry)MAZERAT in Arabic and PUZESH in Persian, (kitchen)ASHBAZKHANEH in Persian, and MATBAKH in arabic, (Last)AKHARIN in arabic, and VAPASIN in Persian, (Signs)ASAR in arabic and RADE PAS in Persian, (ancestor)ABO AJDAD in arabic and NIAKAN in Persian It depends on the speaker which word to use. When I watch news in Persian on TV, for example, most of the words I hear are Persian rather than Arabic as well as in official writings such as books, newspapers, examen papers etc., I don't know why, maybe because it looks more official in our language, but what matter is, is that they are still the version for choosing and I do know that Persian words are a major part of our language in any situation. if you ask me how, I have read a book about this called "Treasure of Persian Language" original version of book "گنجینه زبان پارسی" in Persian. One of the interesting things is that the biggest reason for the survival of all Persian words is a book called Shahnameh, written in the 10th century by the great Persian poet Ferdowsi. Ferdowsi used only Persian words before Islam in his poems, and many consider him and his book to be the savior of the Persian language. When the Arabs conquered Persia, they burned all Persian books and not much remained of Persian before Islam. But the Shahnameh book has been a return to Persian and a great treasure in the history of Iran. People read it together in various ceremonies such as Yalda night, Nowruz and even created ceremonies only about this issue, such as "Naqqali narration", which has helped preserve persian language among all it's Persian words.

My comment was about what I know about the Persian language, I meant that despite the presence of non-Persian words in the Persian language, many of these words still have their original version too. I also explained the reason. But nevertheless, like many other places, Persia has been influenced by other places too, but as you said, it has managed to preserve its own identity.

I would like to say so, but I really don't know. I spoke to a muslim friend of mine about it and he just got frustrated. To him, the whole thing is a farce and Suunis and Shias are fighting over who was the rightful leader of an institution which hasn't existed for a hundred fucking years.
The Sunni and Shiite differences are bigger than Christian conflicts... it would be similar to the past where England had wars over Catholicism and Protestants or Ireland and N. But not all are Persians. Although they are closely related but they come from different ethnicities. That is why some say I am Iranian and not Persian.
Persians don't have biological similarities with Arabs. Different DNA . There are some Arabs that are linguistically Arabs, The real Arabs were from gulf regions. For example Syrians became Arabs after Arab Muslim invasion, which they lost their language. The Yemenis are Arabs. And if you look at a Yemeni and a Persian, they have nothing in common. But the Japanese , Chinese , South Koreans have a lot in common. Their physical similarity speaks volumes.

Don't take it to the point where you make the difference between Arabs and Iran. Iran is a nation and Arabs are an ethnic group. Iran is 60-67% Persian, it has Azeris, Turks, Kurds and Arabs too. Khuzestan is an Arab province and it is the province that has Iran's petroleum.

Every Iranian I have met has referred to themselves as Persian, Not Arab. There may be superficial similarities, but we get those all over Europe as well, so it's NOT hard to wrap my head around that they are different peoples.

In my younger college days I had many Persian friends (1979). Persians were very hospitable and progressive. Respect 🙏.

One major way that Iran is different than the Arab states is that Iran has a national identity with an ancient tradition of art, music and literature that goes back thousands of years.
As a Greek, Iran/Persia is a special country due to its unique history and culture, even in school we learn about Persian civilization and the Greco-Persian wars so we view Persia as a glorious country. So, I get annoyed when they confuse Iran or Turkey with Arabs cause they are not. But their cultures have been altered by the Arabs.

An Iranian actually told me that they, to my surprise, do NOT like hearing us refer to their language as "Farsi," but as "Persian," saying it would be like calling Spanish "español" while speaking English.

I remember when me and my brother went on a trip to Thailand (we are 50/50 iranian/swedish descent born & raised as christians) and there was one aussie guy asking us our nationality. When we mentioned the word "iranian" he instantly replied "Oh so you're arab." Where my brother instantly replied "Hey don't call me an arab." I can't blame them though. It's like people believeing Irak and Iran is the same. The arab label is hard to dodge if you are of middle eastern origin. The muslim label is also hard to dodge as a middle easterner if you don't wear a cross necklace. Hopefully people will educate themselves about middle east in the future.

Not a good example. Because Chinese, Japanese and Koreans are very close, and related. Strong resemblance of one another, physical traits, alone speak volumes. And most of them haven't been mixed. In the Middle East you see different features. I've traveled to East Asia, and there was no way , that I could tell the difference between Chinese, South Korean and Japanese. The only way to distinguish between them is by language.

This was very enlightening for me. I’m embarrassed to say I’m over 60 and there’s some very basic things about people in the world and history. I never really understood well if at all. I remember spending the day in Mexico at our anthropological museum in Mexico City with a docent And he gave me the tour and then we went to the big plaza and at the end of our day I asked him how many times did I offend you today? You see in our ignorance we say things, and we don’t even realize how offensive they could actually be because we just don’t have the understanding or knowledge. Most people are very compassionate and generous about our ignorance, but really Americans can be lazy about the outside world. I grew up in Los Angeles and after the fall of the Shaw, there was a very large group of professional Iranians, who moved to the Los Angeles area mostly in Westwood near UCLA and they have a very successful community there. They’re fully integrated into California American life, and it would be very difficult to point one out really because they just look like Americans. I’ve always found them to be very interested in education, very well, mannered and often going into good professions.

Half of my family is Iranian, in LA. They are not fully integrated. We Americans are not ignorant, we are observant. The man was The Shah, not a guy named Shaw. They look nothing like Americans. They very much show the symptoms of growing up in a totalitarian society. Some are successful in LA only because they are as value-free and shallow as native Angelinos. Above all, they are Muslims when push comes to shove. Having said that, you sound like a bigger problem than they.
Well, that's not something exclusive about _"Americans being lazy about the outside world";_ that actually occurs with people from other cultures as well.
Say in my case, I am from Colombia, I am studying in Canada and my roommate is actually from Iran. We normally get along but I have found that he's very sensitive to everything related to his country and culture whereas he doesn't show any minimal interest or respect towards other cultures. For example, he gets upset even if someone simply asks him if Iranians are similar to Arabs, Kurds or Turks but he keeps confusing my nationality with Mexico, Spain or Brazil under the excuse that _"we are all the same the same 'shoot'"._
Also, if you ask him how to say something in Farsi, he will expect you to pronounce that in perfect Farsi as if you were a native speaker and he will still tell how much you s speaking his language with comments like *_"Seriously? Aren't you able to make that consonantal sound? What kind of sounds then you have in French?"_* even when he doesn't speak English that well and sometimes it's hard to understand him due to his thick accent and a lisp that he particularly has.
Oh, and with respect to the *_"What kind of sounds then you have in French?"_* That is because he tends to confuse 'Spanish' and 'French' so if I correct him and tell him that I speak Spanish, not French, then he gets defensive and says something like *_"who cares, seriously? French, Spanish, whatever... You understood what I meant and French and Spanish are the same 'shoot' anyway..."_*
I don't know, the more I have lived with him, the less interested I have become towards his culture. I would definitely be more understanding towards him if he showed at least a minimal interest to other cultures than his own. And just in case, I do not mind being confused with a Mexican, Brazilian or Spaniard since we share a lot of things. However, it really bothers me that he expects everyone to be super educated about his country when he does not do the minimal effort towards any other culture. Oh, and in case it's not clear, every time I wrote _'shoot',_ that's not the word he actually uses.

We never changed it. We have always called our homeland Iran. Europeans used to call us Persia (following the romans and greeks) so we asked them to call us by our real name.

Calling Iran 'Persia' would alienate all the none Persian ethnic groups in Iran and could even lead to the country to Balkanize. Think of Iran like a Middle Eastern version of Yugoslavia. They're both made up of a bunch of colesely related ethinic groups that speak somewhat similar languages but with a single ethnicity that dominates all the other ones, with Serbs dominating Yugoslavia and Persians dominating Iran. Persians need the rest of Iran to work with them if they wanna maintain whats left of their historic empire, so they'd always go out of their way to make the other Iranians (Kurds, Azeris, Turkmen, Arabs, etc.) feel included.🤷🏾

My teacher prefers to say her language is Persian. She felt it reflected to ppl how it is an classical world language like saying Greek and that insisting foreigners call it Farsi erased that and made it seem more like a local language of a new developing area. I guess because everyone has heard of and impressed by Persia.
I find Iranians to be highly cultured and well educated people. My best friend is Persian and she is not religious at all, she totally blames it on the oppressive Muslim government. Widely enough she is attracted to western christian people. She is open minded and she is ADAMANTly against islam creeping into Western culture. We had our children together. Now there are certain ethnic groups she cannot stand, like Arabs and some south Asian cultures. I am Caribbean so my family is literally the United Nations so I have Arab, White, South Asian and Asian family.
She is one of my best buddies and if anything happened to me I would trust my children with her. She knows my secrets and I know hers. We share a Turkish friend who does not like Arabs either. Weirdly I am the one that is constantly challenging their beliefs both of them tell me look Arabs are racists as are most Muslims. They tell it to me like Fact, not up for discussion. Both of them tag team on their dislike for muslim practices and constantly tell me if Muslims were running this country the whole place would sink into their cultural muslim abyss. I tell them Christian are restrictive too. They respond to me, you have no idea what a restrictive faith is like to live in. They are the biggest protectors of Western culture!

My family and i are Christian apostates from Goa, who has recently converted to Hinduism like 5 years ago( my ancestral faith).
I say this, because Iran is talked mostly positively in the Bible, despite being Zorastrian/Magi at the time of their domination on Jews. Now, i have truly become an Aryan( not the Nazi one, but the real deal).
Even in Hindu literature, the northern Indians are called Aryans and North India is called Aryavrat( composed some 5k years ago). But, it was hard for me to count Iranians into Aryan, because of their Arabic culture and Northern Hindus are the purest Aryans( i mean, they follow true Aryan culture aka Hinduism, i have always believed). And, Hinduism does share many parallels with Zorastrianism and other European pre-Christian faiths. We are very very different tho, most Northern Hindu aka Aryan women dont cover their head( men and women are supposed to be equal) like men, but wear flowers, ribbons and gold ornaments on the hair. In contrast, most Iranians, irrespective of religion cover their head in black abayas( not that it is a bad thing but ok, its Arab/Muslim culture). But, language is what connect us, if not culture and i am proud as an Aryan/Hindu( only Hindus are Aryans in India, rest other have questionable genealogies) that Persian can stand the onslaught of Arabic and be alive to this day( where most Muslim languages are worthless or rootless ones, except Arabic). Be proud of your culture, O Iranians, history cant be reversed but you are our own kin in a distant way😊.

This video is filled with notions of “us” and “them.” Allow me to explain :
- Iranians are closer to Europeans and Arabs are Semitic, historically nomadic people.
- Farsi is a soft Indo-European language and Arabic is a harsh one.
- Iranians are more liberal, open minded, unlike Arabs where women don’t drive and don’t pilot airplanes.

You must have heard that 30 to 40% of the words in the Persian language that is used now are Arabic. But it is interesting to know even so, many of these Arabic words that are available have their Persian versions too and they can be used on Arabic or Persian. For example

It depends on the speaker which word to use. When I watch news in Persian on TV, for example, most of the words I hear are Persian rather than Arabic as well as in official writings such as books, newspapers, examen papers etc., I don't know why, maybe because it looks more official in our language, but what matter is, is that they are still the version for choosing and I do know that Persian words are a major part of our language in any situation. if you ask me how, I have read a book about this called "Treasure of Persian Language" original version of book "گنجینه زبان پارسی" in Persian. In this book, the history of the Persian language, its evolution, its richness in poetry, its influence and many other aspects have been explained.
One of the interesting things is that the biggest reason for the survival of all Persian words is a book called Shahnameh, written in the 10th century by the great Persian poet Ferdowsi. Ferdowsi used only Persian words before Islam in his poems, and many consider him and his book to be the savior of the Persian language. When the Arabs conquered Persia, they burned all Persian books and not much remained of Persian before Islam. But the Shahnameh book has been a return to Persian and a great treasure in the history of Iran. People read it together in various ceremonies such as Yalda night, Nowruz and even created ceremonies only about this issue, such as "Naqqali narration", which has helped preserve persian language among all it's Persian words.

My comment was about what I know about the Persian language, I meant that despite the presence of non-Persian words in the Persian language, many of these words still have their original version too. 3).narration naghali : Naqali is a way of narrating stories from Iranian fictional events such as the Shahnameh. This practice emerged after the Safavid dynasty in Iran and neighboring countries. Despite the fact that Naqali is not directly associated with Shia Islam, Islamic stories, similar to Iranian tales, were also conveyed through this method. Islamic stories can also be narrated in the same manner.

Statistics say that 99% of Iranians are Muslims, while they are only recognized as Muslims on their birth certificates because of the law that states that if one's parents were Muslims, then their children must also become Muslims. There are many Christians, Zoroastrians, Jews and even non-religious people in Iran, but their birth certificates say Muslim. However, this statistic is incorrect. It's precisely how I feel when I was referred to as "Arab" by folks. Not even remotely close, I'm South Asian and personally found it insulting to be referred to as them.

Don't take it to the point where you make the difference between Arabs and Iran. Iran is a nation and Arabs are an ethnic group. Iran is 60-67% Persian, it has Azeris, Turks, Kurds and Arabs too. Khuzestan is an Arab province and it is the province that has Iran's petroleum.
I'm khuzestani and it's definitely not an "arab province". They're a minority, we're Lurs and Persians here. You're another Tehrani who's never left the city perhaps or a foreigner.

Multiple human rights groups including Minority Rights Group International have put the population of Arabs in Khuzestan at around 4 million which is 80% of Khuzestan's population. You Persians invaded the Ahwazi Arabs' land in 1925 and since then have commited human rights violations and discrimination against them all just for one of the richest oil fields in the world.

Iranian are more civilized than Arabs, I have leave with Iranian in Germany 🇩🇪 they are very smart, am a African student but I really admired Iranian very humble and respectable people.
Iranian have made a.lot of inventions. And most of them don't really care about Islam. In Iran , the Iranians want to end Islamic laws, but they can't. Even in Silicon Valley, Iranians have a lot of top engineers, doctors and brains. Many Iranian scientists from the past, had Arabic names, because of Arab Muslim invasion. But none of them were Arabs. Also the first human rights law, was created by Persians, in 550 B.C known as Cyrus Cylinder. Iranians were Zoroastrians before Arab Muslim invasion. Iranians that move to west, for the most part ban Islam. Whereas most Arabs are loyal to Islam. Most Iranians today view Islam as a relgion that contradicts their culture.

Every Iranian I have met has referred to themselves as Persian, Not Arab.
There may be superficial similarities, but we get those all over Europe as well, so it's NOT hard to wrap my head around that they are different peoples.
They've been occupied by the arabs and forcefully Arabized and converted ... their language is now riddled with arabic words and the alphabet they use is the arabic alphabet with a few modifications to some letters
