Title should say John McCrea. He brought so much magic and humor to this role. Haven't seen any other Jamie bring it like him.
The only one I think is close is Layton. All the others have fallen short IMO.
@@danielblair9535 I think Max Harwood did a fine job all things considered :) Especially since certain theatre elements have to be watered down for film adaptations.
@@ohwow6640 Idk I watched the film and Max just feels kinda flat to me when he sings. He's missing that Jamie oomph that John and Layton bring.
@@danielblair9535 i agree, but that’s probably mostly because of the difference between theatre acting and screen acting. you’ve got to be dramatic on stage to be seen, whereas on screen you can see everything therefore being dramatic can get you labelled as ‘over the top’ or ‘overdramatic’ which is why max isn’t as full on as layton and john.

marnie they changed it cause the musicals a lie he used to go to my school in bishop Auckland and he was allowed to wear a dress to prom he just wasn't allowed to bring a camera crew cause it was everyone's prom and he bad mouthed a teacher who did nout wrong in a later review made her cry and teachers accepted him he just wants to tell the story twistedly we can't stop him since he's not saying it's our school
the drive by clowning joke is honestly one of the best lines in anything ever 😹

John McCrea actually played young Loco in the movie version of Everybody's talking about Jamie. His performance was touching and emotional. Amazing.

0:28 and 0:40 are my favourite moments. It’s just the way he dances around and moves that makes me laugh, especially the scene where he moves the paper around, going “me future’s here in black and white.’ And then the way he just flops onto the floor once Ray confirms that ‘It does say that’. John McCrea is just awesome! The way he delivers some of his lines is hilarious!

Watched the film version a few days ago with a friend, and it was awesome. I want to play Jamie New so badly, but that means I'd have to learn how to walk in high heels, and knowing my luck, i will probably crack my skull open during rehearsal.
i've learned about this musical because of its korean adaptation..and i've been in love to this musical - from the good songs to the delivery of their roles..this may be biased opinion but i think, he's the most perfect jamie..

I saw this for the first time in 2018 and fell head over heels in love with ETAJ and John. That love lead me back to the place where I belong 14 further times over the course of their West End run and it opened my eyes to theatre in general. I've seen so many incredible shows in the 5 years that have followed and its all because of this show and John. I can never thank them enough for it all.

As much as I find John McCrea absolutely ICONIC in this (the fall in the garden was SO dramatic) I have to say that I adore the way Ivano Turco pulls Dean through the doors to prom BY HIS TIE when I went to see the show live--

@@ellabrady1839 You can buy the sheet music in the vocal selections book, I bought it and it has lots of the songs in but the out of the darkness version is the one on the album and not in the show, it’s a bit different but has the same chords etc so you can adjust
