My daughter asked me to take her to the cinema to watch this! On the way there she kept thanking me for taking her , on the way home I kept thanking her for taking me!
elin s fun fact- Jamie was actually originally set In County Durham but then the director changed it to Sheffield because apparently the accent was easier for the actors
I saw this in London last month, absolutely brilliant from start to finish. I'd highly recommend seeing it. Alongside 'The Book of Mormon' this is now my joint first favourite modern musical. :)
franinconverse right I saw Layton play Jamie and the chemistry between him and dean was so good and when it ended the first thing I could think was omg Jamie and deannnnn
At least this ended happily, I'm still upset by Cursed Child and Albus and Scourpius didn't end up together after they spent 5 minutes talking about how much they need each other
I’ve seen this show twice and it’s the best show ive ever seen, the songs, the jokes, the emotions and the true meaning behind it make me love it so much more
This is literally all I've seen of this show, and I am already madly in love. I'm sad that it got pretty much ZERO exposure in the U.S. I am vaguely aware that there is a movie but, after watching this, I have a feeling that there is no way a movie can live up to the beautiful intimacy of this show.
theyre both so good! i really wish people would stop sayingg things like john was better, did they expect him to play jamie through the whole time jamie was on broadway?? theyre both such good actors
i come back to this at least once a month to remember how much i miss seeing john as jamie and how fucking incredible this is- also i legit cannot wait for the film omwsjd
the fact that this is a queer musical from the north east of england and the dialogue sounds exactly like how yorkshire secondary school kids talk......i feel seen
thanks to the korean adaptation that i was able to learn about this musical..and came to love it..the songs are all good and i must say this one is my favorite..i so love the harmony of the 4 girls..
Jamie being scared to wear his heels in Sheffield shocks me, Sheffield is one of the most accepting places in the UK, everyone dresses however the fuck they want, I love it!😂
Fun fact, it's based on a true story! There was even a BBC documentary before this musical and the new movie. If you want to take a look further into it, the real guy it's based on is Jamie Campbell Bower
Cause the party's just started And you don't want to miss it The party's just started Almost so close you can kiss it Don't wait for tomorrow Be happy today And all of those stupid people Who cares what they say I know it's not easy, but I know your strong And I know that somewhere they're playing your song Out of the darkness, into the spotlight Everyone's waiting, jamming In a place where you belong And somewhere's a party, that can't start without you Somewhere the DJ is playing your song Hey, can you hear them? That's your audience awaiting There will be queues 'round the theatre For all the shows you're creating And maybe there'll be curtains, all in velvet maroon And maybe there'll be ice cream, in a tiny tub with a built in spoon Out of the darkness, into the spotlight Everyone's waiting, jamming 'Cause that's where you belong And somewhere's a party, that can't start without you Somewhere the DJ is playing your song Is playing your song (When the crowds are showing up) ('Cause the lights are going down) 'Cause the party's just started
I’m a little bit conflicted by this scene - I think the dialogue is great, so snappy, such a good representation of british school, but then the song feels a bit disconnected? It’s a nice tune and the actor sings it very well, but Im already starting to think about this show if it were written as a play, a la ‘teechers’ by John godber?
It took me watching this whole musical several several times to understand everything they’re saying and I still am slowly picking up words that I didn’t get before but now hear. I’m a native English speaker 😂😂
Hey all--just found out about this play and movie from Amazon prime and can't get the soundtrack out of my head; anyone out there know if there is a DVD version of this for sale?? Couldn't find it on Amazon....thanks in advance.
''Oh no, Pritti, I'm gonna pierce me nipples and swing 'em off me tits.''
Also 5:04 is the best combination of words ever.
When I saw this in London's West End, the audience (including me) were almost wetting themselves when he said that. Lol 😂 x,

I have never been prouder to be from Sheffield
elin s fun fact- Jamie was actually originally set In County Durham but then the director changed it to Sheffield because apparently the accent was easier for the actors
isabella Greenwood it was originally set in County Durham because that’s where the actual Jamie, who I have met, is from.
elin s yes I know :)
isabella Greenwood it wasn’t changed to Sheffield because of the accent. It was always set in Sheffield as that was where is opened
