ken on saturday i implement some of your suggestions on one of my channel bend that is usually good for 2-5 3lbs. I moved in shut down my electronic and made long cast with texas worms. Caught 15 with 8 in boat most 3lb range but 1 4lb and missed 2 above 4 lbs missed at boat... i will learn to keep net handy. So even though one data point does not prove but there is something about being stealth. Thanks..

If the frogs not working try a swim tailed fluke on the surface. Rod tip up pull it a foot reel in slack and another foot. When one eats it drop the rod tip reel in slack and set the hook.
Information about the pliers that you cut off hook with? Excellent idea and I don't think I've ever seen them in any tackle stores around. Thanks for your time making these videos, I and many enjoy them.

Thank you for making the best UA-cam content! I have a few questions.
You mentioned that you upgrade your treble hooks on the 6th sense. What are the best hooks (size/make/model) that you will replace them with?
What size weight do you typically use on your Carolina rig when fishing 20+?
Does using braided line make a positive or negative difference on the c-rig? I ask because I know fish get finicky when able to see the line on such a clear lake.
When do you prefer the Cloud 9 versus the 300DD?
Generally I use owner short shank round bend trebles, sized based on bait. 1 Oz egg sinker if I’m not around grass on my rig. Totally believe you’ll get more bites in floro than braid in any application
On the Cloud vs the 300, i throw both and the strike king and several other brands, I just rotate thru them, not unusual for me to have 5-6 on the deck at any time
Ken, you mentioned not graphing over the spots you wanna fish. I hear a lot of mixed answers on this all the time. Where do you stand on this when fishing offshore? I asked this because you mention your looking for schools not singles and I know you can catch multiple fish and figure it out but I know a lot of guys idle past them and see them then fish for them. Thanks and great video on this subject!
Chad I want to see bait, and yes I love to see fish, but one of the biggest stringers I’ve caught on Rayburn was in 35 feet of water in January and the fish were so tight to the bottom they were indistinguishable. I usually leave my electronics on, but back when I trophy fished all the time I turned them off. By the way got story on camera about the 13 lber Stacy Spriggs caught at Rayburn couple of years ago, it’s really really interesting regarding this topic

I noticed in your videos, you like to throw a Carolina rig when fishing offshore. Can I use a 3/4 oz football or some other technique to reach and catch those fish?
Absolutely and a lot of times you’ll catch the biggest fish out of a school with it, but I find when I’m searching I can fish c-rig faster, get more bites and stay hung up way less
Ken, when fishing offshore do you search until you find them on your sonar before you stop and fish?
I search with a crankbait as much or more than I do electronics. Having said that, I’ve gotta see bait to fish, but if I see bait I’m cranking or dragging trying to fire them
I have a question about the day you tracked Missy with John.. if the sonar transducer spooked her, then why wouldn't the radio transmitter that was used for tracking also spook her?
She was transmitting, we were receiving “radio Missy”
@@KenSmithFishing thanks.. just wasn't sure how that worked. I've been telling my buddies for 3 years that shutting off the sonar makes all the difference but they don't believe me. Some of the best days I've had happened after I turned it off.

Bennett it’s just a confidence thing probably Dating back to my early days deep cranking Fork, which has a big population of yellow bass and I always felt I caught more and bigger on it. If you watched that last video close you might notice the good one I jumped off was on a predominately white bait (lavender citrus if I remember right), and actually 2 of my 3 best bites that day were on white, but it’s something I fight, I need to throw more shad colors deep
