    Airco worth having. Gotta use all vitara/sidekick engine brackets and pump if you go multi rib belts. Have to move rad chassis mount foreward to clear pump. But worth the hassle!! Adds a bit of limo to your zuk!!

    Did you have to upgrade the gears?

    • @BuiltForDirt
      @BuiltForDirt  4 роки тому

      Yeah it has 6.5 transfer case gears which also lowers the high range. The axle gears are factory 3.73

    I know you're probably saving them for when you inevitably go YJ in front too, but you could always cut those front spring relocation plates down so they're less likely to hang up on stuff.
    I did that to the set of YJ spring plates and welded them on the rear of my '87 tin top so I can use CJ front springs. I'm also running a 1.6l 8v with a carb, and that same sky rear shock relocation bar and the same sky half high steer setup, and mine is a factory AC truck that was deleted to run trackkick power steering. I might be a little biased, but that's a pretty nice setup you have there.

    • @BuiltForDirt
      @BuiltForDirt  5 років тому

      Yeah I’m saving the front hangers for when I get two more YJ springs for the front. Good eye!
      This rig was factory AC as well. It will be getting the AC back in some day. I have all the parts, just haven’t done it yet

    How do you like your spartan locker? Did it need time to break in? I'm looking at getting one for the rear of my tin top.

    • @BuiltForDirt
      @BuiltForDirt  5 років тому

      It’s great, it used to pop loudly for a while and people would stare thinking something broke. After a while it broke in and just quietly clicks while you are turning.

      @@BuiltForDirt thats awsome.. Can't wait for the video... I've been lookin for a lifted sammy for a while with no luck.. Ive seen a few stock ones but they want like 12 to 15 thousand for them. I want one but not that bad lol..

  • @charliechucker

    Nice looking Sammi there TJ, I love the tin tops...
    This gave me reassurance both visually/aesthetically & off-road performance-wise that me downsizing from old 33x12.5R16's to Treadwright Guard Dogs in 31x10.5R16 will look & perform great still.
    A word of caution for others, if you are shopping for wheels, stick with 15 vs 16 unless you want your tire selection to be primarily load range E heavy-duty big heavyweight truck tires!
    There are a few great 265/75R16, 265/70R16, & 275/70R16, Load Range C & P-metric SL selections, a couple Load Range D, but you'll spend a lot of time shopping for tires that dont weigh 55-65lbs & are not as stiff as a steamroller on a light lil Samurai. Mine came w/nice Raceline Renegade 886's in 16x8. Sammi couldnt push 33x12.5 KM2's @ 70mph...
    Interco TrXus, Maxxis Bighorn, & Kanati Mud Hog were a few of the good affordable options I found.
    Went with the Guard Dogs for the MT look but supreme snow capability w/o a siping job.

    • @charliechucker
      @charliechucker 6 років тому +1

      I was really shooting for something above 20 MPG as well, that is a big reason for going with 31 or 32 inch 10.5 or 11.5 wide tires, & the concern about not going with a super heavy super stiff load range E.
      Sorry TJ, got a bit off topic, but thought I would spew that info out somewhere for others shopping for wheels

    • @BuiltForDirt
      @BuiltForDirt  6 років тому

      No worries! It’s all good. The tin top might be getting some 33s in the future. Will probably go with a 33x10.5 though. Skinny and tall

    Question: is the cup holder center console stock or did you installed it?
    If so where did you originally got it from
    My tin top interior is bone stock and could really use a cup holder 🤣

    • @BuiltForDirt
      @BuiltForDirt  5 років тому +1

      It’s not stock. I got it here: www.lowrangeoffroad.com/suzuki-off-road-parts/samurai/interior-body-upgrades/suzuki-samurai-interior-console-with-cupholders-charcoal-grey.html

      @davidcraft4909 5 років тому

      @@BuiltForDirt thank you for the reply, I currently have a samurai with some 15 wide tires and the wheels are wide as hell too. I am about to buy some 8 inch wide wheels and run 31x10.50 super swamper tsl. I'm just trying to guestimate the offset to get. I like your stance, so I guess I would need like 2 inch offset since I don't plan on using any spacers.

    Hi, do you guys get Wide Track(WT) Narrow Track?(NT) or are they all the same? do you get the 1.6 EFI coil pack engine?
    do you find the big lift makes it more top heavy? or is it ok with wider track?
    cheers

    • @BuiltForDirt
      @BuiltForDirt  6 років тому +1

      They are all the same here in the states. The 1.6 is still carbureted no EFI. The lift isn’t bad, not too heavy. A spring over is very common here

    Did u have to adjust pinion angles with the leaf spring perches from LR?

    • @midvalleyair4142
      @midvalleyair4142 6 років тому

      Or did the double Cardin remedy that ?

    • @BuiltForDirt
      @BuiltForDirt  6 років тому +1

      I didn’t have to adjust pinion angle until I did the YJ springs in the rear. Ended up shimming it 6 degrees and got it perfect. Double cardan wasn’t necessary, did it mainly for more slip and figured why not do the double

    Question for ya , saw a video of one of these and I thought he said It had a Harley carb on it !?!? Is that possible
    Or did I probably misunderstood him for a Holley carb ??

    • @BuiltForDirt
      @BuiltForDirt  5 років тому

      You heard correctly. Harley as in the motorcycle is a popular carb swap for Samurais. The stock motor is only 1300 cc. I hear they work well but have never actually seen one with a Harley carb in person.

      @BuiltForDirt  6 років тому

      Awesome! What are you plans for it?

    • @vincenttschida8849
      @vincenttschida8849 6 років тому

      It's currently stock, I have a 1.6 8v I'm going to swap in this summer. I'm probably going to keep it spring under axle and lift it just enough to clear the 1.6 oil pan. Last summer I replaced the windshield, rear bumper, tail lights, cat back exhaust, did a valve lash, and replaced the vacuum advance on the distributor. I just got my reverse lights working; I had to replace that switch on the trans.
