i think “there’s someone inside your house” definitely paid homage to 90s slashers. it even had a sneaky little nod to scream by naming the street “prescott” street.

I was told to watch "The Guilty". It's a 2018 Danish movie and supposed to be good. the Netflix one is actually an American Remake of the 2018 one, but I was told the Danish version it's better. For Squid Game, be sure to pick the 'English' subtitles, not 'English [CC]' (which is often the default). The CC subtitles are based on the dubbed dialogue. The non CC subtitles are translated from the Korean dialogue.

I did 31 Days of Horror! Out of all the movies I’ve watched in October, Titane was the one that blew my head off! This film is layered with lots of commentary about gender fluidity, sexuality, trauma-bond, and love in general. The director Julia Ducournau outdid ‘Raw,’ in my opinion.

I liked the movie more than the book. I was a big not fan of the book, the whodunit was disappointing, the romance focus overshadowed the thriller aspect, and the mystery of the MC was so dumb. But the changes the movie took made it so much more fun and campy. I still might read her new thriller. I want to know if my issues with her first were because she wrote YA contemporary romances before so she was still finding her way with YA thrillers.

I'm suspecting they just are refusing to immerse themselves into the films. Long story short, you should do a video of "movies to show people who don't get scared" or something of that nature. Yesssss Scary Stories is one of my favorite horror movies (if not my actual fav) and so after staying up watching Ghostbusters with my dad leading into Halloween, I stayed up until like 4 or 5 am watching Scary Stories, cuz my family doesn't really vibe with horror movies and so I wanted to get to watch it before later when we'd be watching other stuff 😂🙈 Later I watched two Abbott and Costello movies with my parents and then my mom introduced me to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and we binged the first 3 episodes. Then I watched an episode of the show Psych (literally my childhood, I started watching it during the first season when I was 5 and have been obsessed ever since) called Tuesday the 17th that's a little bit of a spoof/tribute to Friday the 13th. It's funny AND a little intense and it was the perfect way to cap off the evening 🙃

The original film is Danish, and it's without a doubt better, and that's not to say the American version isn't decent: however, since the movie is so dependent on the actors' actual voices, I do think it would be difficult to enjoy the original, considering the language barriers.

And on the actual day/night of Halloween I rewatched two of my favourite horror movies, both remakes, House of Wax and The Fly.

I actually did 31 days of horror this year. I can't remember everything I watched for that reason, so I'll just list the highlights. Note that I didn't really watch new stuff.
    Angst
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer
May (this is probably in my top 10 horrors now, it's truly a gem)
Suspiria (original, loved it, so weird)
It (2017, I was putting it off because it's so long. But omg I loved it. Didn't feel like it was over 2 hours)
    Halloween (original, needs no introduction)
    Texas Chainsaw Massacre
    All 5 Final Destination movies
    Gonjiam Haunted Asylum
Grave Encounters (this one was more funny to me)
    Triangle
I know there are others I enjoyed, but those are the most memorable. I watched a few episodes of Creepshow here and there and thought it was pretty good, also watched Haunted House LLC, Raw, and A Classic Horror Story, which were all decent imo. I watched a few I hated, like Hellfest and the Nightmare on Elm Street remake. I also watched Poughkeepsie Tapes, which I didn't hate, but thought was overrated.
Kind of counts, but it's not exactly horror, at most thriller. Season 3 of You.

There were several instances of the new PA having traditional thematic shots instead of found footage shots. We spent a week watching the previous PA movies leading up to the new one, so the discrepancy really stood out and bugged me. I heard it was going to be a reboot, and I'm glad it wasn't a reboot in the sense that it was rehashing the same story though. It just didn't feel like a PA movie.

I love the first two I know what you did last summer movies, but while I would love your opinion on the show, it isn’t very great. The mystery is cranked up from the movies but that is it. My hope is that the last two episodes gives something more to offer.

I'm sure this will sound cray cray but I HATED Zombie's H2 in theaters. Then for some reason, I watched the director's cut on blu. I love it now. Seen it multiple times. It's BY FAR my second favorite of the series. I know, I'm obviously cray cray. :p
In a nutshell: I love Scout Taylor Compton's Laurie struggling with PTSD. How that is really what the film is about not Michael who arguably in the directors cut is just a figment of her imagination. Also, best last shot of a horror film maybe in all the 2000s!

that makeup/continuity comment is my biggest pet peeve about evil dead 2 lol one second ash is COVERED in black deadite blood,,,, the next he’s clean with very strategically placed blood marks on his perfectly makeup-ed face.

I thought the setting for the new Paranormal Activity really added to the scares. Something about the more primitive environment just makes you feel more helpless
