what action do you do with spoolteks do you fish bottom and if so how do you prevent getiing snagged because i often fish powerbaits for snooks because if i fish the bottom and get snagged its not a big deal to lose a lure that costs like a buck.
+saltpro You gotta find the fish, most of the time they're sitting on the bottom. If you aren't sure of the bottom structure of an area don't throw the spooltek there. But at the end of the night losing a lure or jig is inevitable.
Would you have to set the hoot harder because of how much leader comes out of the lure ? because I feel like when you set the hoot you at like 10" of slack come out instead of straight up hook
+Juan Ramos Not really, hooks are sharp and the snook generally hit them really hard so they often times set it themselves. But at the end of the day do what works for you!
I really enjoy watching all of your videos.. I'm from Texas and I'm new to shark fishing can you guys make a video talking about your rigs and baits and maybe kayaks that ya'll use.
Jose Parras Thank you man good to know we are reaching out other than locally. I will make a video on all our shark setups, but we are trying to make it in a fashion that shows how to be responsbile shark fishermen which is something lacking in the land based community. If we want our sport to live on people can't leave trash on the beach and or have sharks wash up on them!
I got one of the small spool Tek lures I pulled the leader out to see how it worked and i tried to winded back in, I could not get the hook to lock in I gave it so many tries that my hands hurt. I'm not likely to get a nother one
Penn senator 112h2 on a ugly stick tiger with 65 ib braid or the same rod and line with the jigmaster also do you have a better set up for me for around 200$ or less thanks!
im actually fishing stripped bass in Gaspesie, Qc with Storm Live henring. I'ma try to get these spooltek cause it's true with common swimbaits when the fish headshake he can get away. My ration is 71 landed for 13 loosed and some at 3ft of the beach.
+Alexandre .St-Onge Spooltek is revolutionizing the lure industry. My friend is friends with the owner and they have some insane concepts in the works. I have nothing but good thing to say about the lure and it's worth every penny. Most of the snook fishermen down in Southeast florida have exclusively switched to fishing this lure. I wish you luck in your pursuit of stripers and thanks for watching the video.
Wouldn't the fact the weighted jig is a foot out of the fishes mouth, even though you aren't supposed to have any slack in the line although it happens sometimes, wouldn't that slack actually give the fish a better chance of tossing the hook by using the weight of jig thats a foot in front of the hook?
+TheKingeric11 I understand what your saying and it theory it makes sense, but the guys who fish them claim they land a lot more fish and their hookup ratios have increased as well. I'm not endorsed by spooltek in any way, so we just made this video to illustrate some of the advantages seen through personal experience.
Landshark Outdoors Gotcha, appreciate the response and I assumed you were sponsored so I was curious what I'd hear back if I did...It all seems like a gimmick to me honestly, I work at a baitshop and it sells people more than sells the fish...Plus its pricey. I was just really skeptical of the weight from the lure being a foot above hook once deployed and fish throwing it like tarpon notoriously do if you try using a sinker on your line..Like your guys channel though keep it up. Also have you guys ever used any of them?
+TheKingeric11 100% agree with it sells people.I have never bought one myself and think the price is ridiculous, but on the other hand my friends who fish them honestly do prefer them over the flair hawks, topwater and almost everything, and they are NOT sponsored as well. I'm not much of a snook fishermen, but I think the technology and innovation is ingenious and I know the old school guys shake their heads at it, but Dave Justice the creator is a legend when it comes to the artificial snook game and has innovated the swimbait. The only way to see if its a gimmick is try it out for yourself and the best lure you you can ever fish is the one you are most comfortable with , and the one you spend throwing the most.
My friend Ben begovic almost exclusively fishes spoolteks and he has caught plenty of 40 plus inch fish on them. You can see on his Instagram @bbegovic.
Guys, The whole idea is to detach the weight so the fish cant shake it out of its mouth. It works like a trolling lure in front of a ballyhoo or a breakway tarpon jig. The breakway tarpon jig was a breakthrough in pass fishing, I understand its illegal to use now in some areas because of the amound of lead weight littering the sea floor. I have had snook and tarpon fire my plugs back at me several times and got hit once! They cant do that with only a light hook in its mouth.
I still wouldn't go too light on the leader since snook tend to inhale their food..20-25 lb flouro is minimum I go for snook.very cool though. How long do these lures last?
Ok...dude...believe me...save your money and buy a bag of swimbaits... while they catch fish...they are way over priced and losing them hurts...I've done the field test on both coast... They will hit a swim bait just as readily as they will hit a spooltek...trust me. They aren't worth the money...unless your trying to earn a sponsorship by singing their praises you wouldn't use it
+Daniel Lliteras Other than really washing it out good after every use, and preventing sand from piling in their idk . I will ask my buddy Ben who is close with the creator of spotless and see what he recommends. You can message me teethtv@gmail.com for more info, Don't be shy!
Do u have any suggestions tho becuz every spooltek I've owned has rusted out on me, do u have any tips on preventing it? and by the way I wash all my lures I use and hooks when I get back from fishing trips
Phillip Michaels Yeah, I did that and they hardly get rust and when they do sometimes I either just put it in a cup of apple cider vinegar which is stronger than vinegar, but I don't like to use it that much because it stinks really bad, so I just get wd 40 and spray it in the socket where the cable stores and just move the gear a little bit and then leave it to dry for like 10 min.
@3:55 Dudes come on...the tails are not "much more durable." Tail durability is a big disappointment. Unless you have a couple replacement packs you wont be fishing long.
Im so sad that dave justice sold the company, the quality on these lures has went down since the new owner has taken control. The leaders are way smaller, and the hooks are a lot harder to pull out because the machining on the lures isnt good or smooth anymore plus the tails are made out of a diffrent material now and lose lolor so all your left with is a clear tail. Very sad, these lures were really special when dave owned spooltek
LIfe bait, Life bait, Life bait anyone? I got a ton of crap that fish just laughs at me all day. Now I got a secret weapon for the bastards in the canals. Bow and Arrow fishing, No more waiting and no mess with stupid bait. Who is laughing now???
"So SpoolTek pulls out but we don't" that might be my senior quote
You will be a legend
Landshark Fishing I'm late but what do you think about these on the west coast (gulf coast)
Dave Justice the creator of spooltek lures, lives on the west coast lol.
cool thanks
I suggest pulling out like the spooltek
Can you make a tutorial makeout video?
Ryan Izquierdo for you I can do anything
Thinking about buying one which color is best for snook
Just got one today at bass pro. They had the pink colored one on clearance so i got it. Do you catch snook on that one?
+Supreme Fishing I never used one lol, but I think they are more interested in the action of lure than the color.
ok thanks! i was using it at a freshwater spot ar night but i got nothing so far.

+saltpro No problem , ask anytime
Nice video man
Thanks Darius!

Should you still use a leader? Or is braid to that lure enough?

Thank you so much bro and yeah here in Texas most of the shark fisherman think the same way keeping the beaches clean thank you again and good luck

LethalAids What are you going to be using it for?
Anyone that fishes for snook knows that the danger of cut offs is not the mouth, it's the razor sharp gill plates that cause most cut offs.
Hey can u make a video on snook combos ?
+Ryan Walks yes, one day
im actually fishing stripped bass in Gaspesie, Qc with Storm Live henring. I'ma try to get these spooltek cause it's true with common swimbaits when the fish headshake he can get away. My ration is 71 landed for 13 loosed and some at 3ft of the beach.

what kind of conventional reel or baitcasting reel would u recommend for those spoolteks
We just filmed a video covering that topic. I will be posting it in the next few weeks.
Landshark Fishing ok thanks because I use a fin-nor lethal for flatling mullet and I wonder if it would work on those types of bait

😂
Do u guys fish fluorocarbon with the Spooltek
Yes+Noah_561
Is the spool plastic or metal
+Sean McEwen Hard plastic
you should do a recap on this video
catching snook with the SpoolTek
One of my spooltek's leaders actually jammed into the spool, so I had to go buy a new one. Do you have any tips on how to prevent it from happening?

After a fishing trip deploy the hook and leave it unraveled and wash it this way. Always store your spoolteks with your leader deployed.
also to remove rust, use vinegar and soak it for a couple of hours and then wipe it off with a dry paper towel
Just patiently waiting for some 4" fattys lol
Jon W It'll be well worth the wait lol!
@3:55 Dudes come on...the tails are not "much more durable." Tail durability is a big disappointment. Unless you have a couple replacement packs you wont be fishing long.
Is him constantly stroking the cable supposed to be a joke?

Nice lures but man they will rust easy. Rinse and dry them off right after

Hulagu Kahn well what if you end up shooting a under sized fish
Hulagu Kahn you can't fight the fish on a bow
Then I need glasses, jajaja. I mean, you gonna see what you are aiming for.
Is like spearhead fishing, but without getting your ass wet.
Try it on an Alligator Gar.
As long as your eating them.

Rather you guys just talk about the lures than have one guy act retarted and act like he knew nothing and ask questions. Kinda annoying to watch
+Dustin Butler point taken
Yea because when i set the hook i want me hook to give 15", and i definatly wanna fish a 20$ lure. Lol
I've had spooltek for a while and just now figured out they have a leader
None of these use these anymore it’s al nlbn now !
Nah SpoolTeks still work but yeah NLBN has taking over especially in FL
All this crap is now in the dollar stores lol
