- In this video I show you a scenic but tough 10 mile hike up Beinn na h-Uamha, a Corbett in the stunning but less frequented area of Ardgour. A short ferry trip takes you to a quiet but stunning corner of Scotland, Ardgour. It feels like you're on a Scottish Island!

Great video, what a beautiful area.
Thank you 😎
Smashing stuff. Scotland looks magical, you should be getting a few kickbacks from the Tourist Board! Keep up the great work
Cheers, I was short listed for the Calmac ferries advert but wasn’t picked on this occasion. 🥹
Loving the cinematic style Robin 😀Yeah, those mics are easy to knock off and lose. Get yourself a loop of paracord, lark's foot it around the mic and pop it over your head. That way you can quickly clip it back on when you change layers 👍
Cheers Ian, aye a paracord necklace for the microphone could be the way forward. I sometimes attach it to my chain underneath my t-shirt.
Nice part of the world, footage going up in the quality department Robin good effort man...shoe perb boshe. Great tip on microphone although don't mind holding the mic as loads of popular UA-camrs do it. My only advice is oil your bike brake mechanism lol
Cheers Jimmy, I’m trying to make a point of using the drone more to justify buying a lighter one. 😄In hindsight holding the microphone would reduce the likelihood of losing it but I’ve never got why UA-camrs do it. Bike just had the brakes all tightened up.😎
Quality. Nice Peat & Diesel buff also.
Gotta love a bit of P&D. 😁
@@WalkWithWallace That's the way we do it in the Western Isles. 😄
🥁 🎸 need a third album. Come on Boydie.
Another great video Robin. Looked like a perfect day in the mountains. G❤️🏴
Cheers G, looking at the forecast for this weekend, I’m glad I got out. 😎
@@WalkWithWallace Yeah, I'm bailing off the West Highland Way in Kinlochleven. Weather looks horrendous today. 🌨️G❤️🏴
@@redmanwalking74 bummer mate. 😤
This looks phenomenal, absolutely phenomenal my friend! That opening shot was mind blowing!
Thank you 🤩
Shhhhhhh man!!!!
😮
Nice wan M.C Robin 🤟😉 looked a tough shift bud. A fine looking, rugged Ronnie tho. Love the drone shots 😍 Need tae get the DD back the gether 👌
Haha, cheers mucker. Aye was a tough wee gig to get me back into it. Long overdue but this weekend looking pants. 😢
@@WalkWithWallace gash eh
Gasharoony.
Looked like a hard shift Robin 😮 but the scenery certainly made it worth the effort 🏔️🏔️ fantastic drone footage, Shoooperb Sir 👌 atb Brian 👍
Cheers Bri, was a guid hike to get mr back into it. 😎
Robin you need a wee belt n braces solution to your mike.
Possibly superglue a lanyard loop onto the body of mic and attach a micro carabiner type clip to the opposite end that can securely connected to yourself
Yeah I said that to Kev as well, they should put a loop on the mic so you don’t have to superglue it on. 🤔
Nice to see you back out, Robin. Ardgour is so unspoilt, isn't it? I got the once a day bus from Fort William to Kilchoan Ferry (for Tobermory) a couple of summers ago , and it's like being back in time, with the tiny communities of Strontian and Acharacle - where it makes a scheduled 15-minute stop for toilets, tea and/or ice cream - at one of those huge, sell-everything general stores that wouldn't have looked at all out of place on Little House on the Prairie! After that the road narrows and takes on the full appearance of a white-knuckle ride for the rest of the way, leaving you at the metropolis that is the two-shelter, one-building ferry terminal; while it heads back up the road and into Kilchoan proper - and maybe Ardnamuchan too! Definitely to be recommended as the best route to Mull!
Totally agree, we stayed at Strontian a few years ago for hogmanay. Visited Castle Tioram and spotted 2 golden eagles, a white tailed eagle and several buzzards. Used the Mull ferry once before, you forget about that service a lot of the time.
Cracking day hike that Rob the view's looking over to Ben Nevis we're amazing the mic's are a nightmare dropped mine a few times been lucky enough to find it atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Cheers Jimmy. 😎
The mics are brilliant but so easy to misplace, I might end up holding it. 😂
@@WalkWithWallace 🤣🤣🤣 have you tried contacting some cordage to it then tie it to your clothes or wear it like a necklace
@@LundysWildcampBushcraft that’s a good idea, I sometimes attach it to my necklace, still picks up your voice fine under a t-shirt.
Good to see you out again. Weather has been rank for 5 months or so. Need to get myself back in shape. Missing the outdoors.
Been awful mate, business as usual this weekend too 😤
Glen Gour is close enough to dodge the punitive ferry fares. Uamha is walkable from Corran although I failed when I tried it due to rather dodgy snow conditions.
Given the horrible weather we have been having, it is good to hear the crunch of dry Spring vegetation again.
6:30 - Some MC Kellar and the Bothy Blaster vibes. (Angry Corrie)
Definitely, I couldn’t justify paying £20 for a few km along the road. It was good to get some spring sunshine, alas business as usual again 🌧️ I’ll need to Google that, I’ve okay seen the Angry Corrie in the public loos at Kelloch.
@@WalkWithWallace Weather not relevant for me at the moment - lost most of March to Covid and still at the conquer the stairs phase of recovery.
Still fed up with weather, no end in sight. I did enjoy watching you cross the Gour with ease - I have had fun with that one. March was drier than average in the northwest.
I can imagine the Gour being tricky in spate conditions, speedy recovery with the Rona mate. It knocked me for 6 first time around. 😷
Great seeing you out again. Thanks for uploading, Robin. Awesome looking hill BTW! 🏴🏔👍
Cheers mate, it twas long overdue. 😎
Top video again Robin, great idea to take a bike! Loving the views, Nik-Naks? I remember them Lol! 👍👍
Cheers Tony, made total sense to cycle that section. Ha, we got them at school 😋
😤 Missing your sidekick Kevin Mr Wallace 🙃
Hopefully next time, we’re both overdue a wild camping trip.
Absolutely amazing. Visit the himalayan mountains k2 and Nangaparbat view point from one place
Cheers and a visit to the Himalayas is on the cards. Probably a trekking mountain though.
@@WalkWithWallace Thank you very much for replying to the comment. Whenever you start a short solo trip of 4-5 days, Moses Peak is a must. It is a 5300m height۔ from the top of moses pea which you can see the views of the K2 world second highest peak in the world, Nangaparbat, K6 k11 and K 12 views in one frame. best time from May to October. This is a family tracked.its open Zone, one did not need a trekking permit or have to pay Royalty fee to climbed this Mountain tower.
@@BaltistaniBoyscheers, I’ll research this
@@WalkWithWallace cheers bro Yes, do your research. That's why I recommended the mountain to you. This mountain route goes through my village. I have summited it at least 10 times every year with tourists. The route to Moses Peak is an easy and very scenic trek. You must visit me once this year. I am sure you will remember this trip for whole life. Thank you
Great stuff Robin. I haven't climbed anything in Ardgour but have a corbett trip to the FW area planned for May so may get over there. Cheers
A trip over the ferry could be on the cards then 😁 loads of options from FW to be fair.
Hi Robin, great to see you back out and about. What a stunning area, looked lovely and quiet, away from all the crowds in the usual bank holiday hotspots. All the best mate, Dave 😀⛰🥾🏴
Exactly, total peace and quiet in Ardgour. All the usual spots were rammed on the drive up, Glencoe etc.
Great piece of filming. Loved the intro.
Good to see you back out mate.
Cheers Ewen, hope the recovery is going well mate. Take care. 😎
@@WalkWithWallace Plan is to maybe do the WHW or EHW next year. New pack on the way to help the back.
Which one did you go for?
@@WalkWithWallace Turns out I have a rather long back so that ruled out the flex capacitor.
I ended up getting one of the last Osprey Aether pro 70s on sale. Didn't like the new 75. Yeah, heavy but strippable. Will probably not use the brain pocket so that will lighten it and the weight will be offset elsewhere. Main thing is the harness. It is very comfortable. The waist belt is excellent and I will probably get it heat shaped for me.
Soon as the brace is off I'll start the physio and getting fit again. Just need to watch out the first few months of the year as that I usually when something happens to me😄.
@@BrokenBackMountains Excellent, you usually can't go wrong with an Osprey and comfort shouldn't be comprimised for lightweight gear imho.
Good to see you back on the hills Robin.👍 The weather has been really poor on so many weekends this year it makes getting out difficult, hopefully settles down soon for a drier spring. Moidart & Ardnamuchan is a brilliant part of the country. ATB Derek
Cheers Derek, aye it’s been rotten for 5 months give or take the odd decent day. Got a few peaks left in that area too. 👌🏻
Great video again Robin. Did that one with a pal back in 2017. Camped at Strontian and found it a tough hill. 6.5 hours plus a long drive home afterwards!!
Cheers Paul, I got home at 10pm, left at 6am. Long day for a solitary Corbett. Wish I camped at Strontian too 🙃
Fantastic I have climbed a lot of the Corbetts in that area the last time was Beinn Resipol I had awesome views. and your right it does feel like being on an island when you get to Ardgour nice to see you out and about cracking video mate take care
By the way frogs are a delicacy in Korea😂
I quite fancy a camp on Resipol, although might be nice to support the local campsite 🏕️
I can imagine frogs being a delicacy in NK 😝
We climbed Resipol from the campsite of the same name there’s a walkers car park they have provided a nice well maintained campsite looked lovely next to the loch can’t wait to see your video of that walk it’s a stiff climb following a gorge that seems to go on for ever but the reward if fab views across to moidart and Rhois Beinn mountains well worth the effort
Take me there mate, sounds mint 😎
@@WalkWithWallace forgot to mention it’s very rocky summit area but you may find a suitable spot lower down if wild camping 🏕️
Hi Robin, the 2 people you meet on your way in was my Sister in Law and Brother in Law, what a Small World, lol. 😊
😮 Jeezo and more over how did I come pop into conversation?
We are off to that Area in one weeks time and they were staying there for a week and just happened to do the walk the same day as you. They are visiting us and was showing us their walks on our Maps and they noticed that I had all ready marked you walk on it and they just happened to mention that they only meet one " very nice person " on the walk and I just asked them was that the day that the Clocks moved forward and they said yes.
@@malcolmnash5850 that’s mental, as it’s a very quiet corner of the country. 😊
I remember them saying they were on holiday too. I also met Anna Wells’s Dad near the summit.
I just showed them your Ytube Film and they said it was unmistakable you, plus they enjoyed your Blog.
I’ve got one of those faces 🤣
Looks rather warm n dry Robin. You sure that’s Scotland 🤣. I’m building foundations in longniddry and it hasn’t stopped bloody raining for two weeks. Muds so deep my hamstrings are done in. I fancied n Nevis summit camp before the last of the snow disappeared aswell.
Best day of the year… yet! ☀️
It’s been horrendously wet, don’t envy you putting in foundations at the moment. 😮💨
That's a great effort Robin.. if it took you 4 hours to get up, lord only knows how long it would have taken me... Loving the drone footage and sounds 😉... Tis a nice place over the water.. Thanks for sharing.. 😎
Haha, cheers Jim. Aye that whole area. So much to explore and it’s really quiet. No Munro Baggers 🤫
Good stuff Robin , Ardgour is stunning mate
Cheers Stevie, it is like. Shame the Munro baggers miss it 😀
Fantastic video Robin, Ardgour looks amazing.
Cheers Phil. It’s the biz and hardly anyone goes.
Great stuff mate. I have happy memories of the Corran Ferry as a lad in 1985, on a holiday with my aunt and uncle at a place called Drimnin, past Lochaline. What you filming on these days Robin? I noticed you flogged the ZV1 a while back. I'm amazed mine still works.... it's taken a right battering with my clumsy ways. 😭
1985, jeez that’s going back now. Probably the same ferry 😂 it was broken down last year.
If the weather is good, like this one I take the DJI Pocket 3. It’s a bit of a faff though. Also use the iPhone for clips and the GoPro 11 with the media mod.
@@WalkWithWallace The footage does look excellent with the DJI, good bokeh especially.
Can’t seem to switch it off though. 🥹
Solid shift that mate, looks a cracking viewpoint that hill and bet next to nobody goes up it. Quality footage at the summit, nice wee film. Cheers 👌
Cheers James, aye it was a good one to get me back into the swing of things. 😎
Another great video from a great part of Scotland with amazing footage & down with the kids commenting 😂🤟
Haha, cheers mate. 🤣
Nice video Robin. It’s a beautiful area and you got lucky with the weather ☀️ It’s been a shocking spell for getting out! Another Corbett in the bag 😉
Cheers Lee, when do you reckon you’ll do Slioch?
Not a part of the country I’ve ever wandered around in, I’m might need to rectify that, it looked stunning 🤩
You should definitely do a daft accent for your next outing 😂
Definitely worth it Steve, plus it’s quite expansive going west towards Ardnamurchan.
Don’t think I could keep it up all the way through a video.😄
Best hills in Scotland for my money! No Sgurr a' Chaorainn? Grahams a list too far?
I saw in Kev's latest video he lost a pole too. Got a spare pair between you now 😂
Aye, I’m really not getting into the Golden Grahams mate. I’ll keep my spare pole for parts. I’ve got form for breaking or losing them 🥲😆
Excellent vid Robin. Some really nice opening shots and that wee bike looks well handy for cutting down the walks.😀👍
Cheers Andy, aye its a cool wee bike and as long as the track isn’t too stoney, it will do a bit of off road. 🙃
🙋 Nice hike Robin !
Cheers Bon 😎
Good stuff Robin. That's some army of frogs, never seen anything like that either, must be a town meeting.
🐸 heard them before I seen them. Wonder if raptors pick them off, easy food for a goldie.
Looks a tough Corbett that, some stunning views from the summit.
They’re all tough as you know 🤣
@@WalkWithWallace I know 🤣many left?
29 mate….
Nice one robin nice see you on bike nice drone footage you go for a dji drone great video robin 👍
Cheers Bry, aye mate had the same drone for a few years now. Trying to use it more to justify buying a new one. 😆
Excellent Robin 😍👍.It looks so beautiful there mate 😍..Great to see views of Glen Coe and Ben Nevis from that side ..Nice drone shots as well ..How’s the camp spots up at the summit Robin ?..I’ve only been on that ferry once..I’ll need to get over to that side more..Great vlog mate..The good old Ebike did the trick as well.
Cheers
Murchie
Cheers Murcho, tends to be rocky around the summits but can usually get pitched a bit lower near the summit.
@@WalkWithWallace Nice one mate 😁..Cheers 😁👍
Is that the Aldi tuna pot you had.
Costco effort, seen them in Tesco too. Rio Mare.
Good video Robin and well put together.
Good to see you back out ⛰️
You not using GoPro anymore?
Cheers Stevie, aye still use the GoPro if the weather is meant to be a bit ropey.
Nahhh don’t hold the mic, proper click baiters trick lol. Nice vid, looked a tough cookie but stunning to say the least. Atb mate 👍
Aye its a bit naff eh 🤣 cheers bud 👍🏻
Hopefully soon Robin. Still want you and the team to join me 😊
