I have the same issue with the human characters looking plastic-y... but I already have that issue with the Pokemon themselves for some time now (and the textures don't make up for it to me, I'd prefer a thick outline + cel-shaded artstyle over models having textures any day), so since I'm already tolerating that for the Pokemon themselves, the humans essentially feeling more consistent with those doesn't really change it much for me.... but I think we also need to see more interesting characters to be able to judge the decision more properly. I am glad though that the pure white highlight gradients from SwSh are gone at least, even if it's at the cost of outlines disappearing entirely :I
Sneasel being in Hisui didn't stop them from giving it a Hisuian form, so we technically can't rule out a Meowth form yet entirely! Maybe this is a special Meowth related to some plot or something else xD (unlikely but still)
@@EliteTrainerLin nah, let's be honest, Jynx is gonna be the one getting a form. One that possibly makes it worse. It is one of the very few Gen-1 Pkmn left that haven't really gotten any new form or evolution... besides Smoochum in Gen-2 I guess.
TBF, it wasn't just "making models", it was also about making new animations and other work that isn't easy to explain to non-developers. And regardless of whether it's things like something Camp related, what face a Pkmn makes when it eats curry, or how they use some new move in battle, the thing is that even if they do the "usual" amount of model/animation work, it just kept growing almost exponentially every generation due to everything having to be done and redone for every previous Pkmn on top of the new ones.... but obviously it could take like a 5h presentation from someone at Gamefreak on all the things adding up to a justification of their decision of the Dexcut to themselves to actually properly explain it, so summing it up in a short PR statement in a live-translated interview was gonna result in an easy laughing target no matter what 😬 I think they basically just chose to take the risk and bite the bullet with it on SwSh, just to get it over with for the future.
@@EliteTrainerLin as would I, but somewhere halfway through it, they'd probably just feel like they're unnecessarily dragging themselves through the mud, just so a couple of us would feel satisfied with thorough insights.
Sprigatito is my fave, it makes me think of any time I've seen cats zoned out with their face in catnip 🤣 Also, with it being a starter, since it's inevitably going to turn into some kind of bipedal character, regardless of everyone angrily leaving demanding comments on official social media of Pokémon along the lines of "pls stay on all fours" (to the point where it's starting to feel really weird to me), I kinda hope that they manage to come up with a design that's going to be so interesting and cool that it catches many people off-guard and makes everyone forget that they ever wanted it to be a regular cat-like creature with no real twist to its bodyshape as it evolves. 🤔 (also I hope they give it the tools to be as useful in competitive as Incineroar, cause it still feels like there's no Pkmn giving it competition in its roles...)
@@EliteTrainerLin It's the cutest. I do kinda like the other two, but Sprigatito is the cutest and generally most appealing to me. There's something about it that I just like more than the other two.
Maybe this time they're making all the female hairstyles and outfits terrible so that it's more even with the barebones options the male characters tend to get? 🤔 /jk

Whatever happens we should just be grateful they aren't using the chibi bdsp models again 😬

I'd love a 5 hour video of them showing and explaining their work

I chose Sprigatito within one millisecond of seeing it. And I'm not even really a cat person either.
Why so? Because it's the cutest or do you dislike the other 2?
