The sinking sounds like a "perfect storm" of simultaneous events....power outage, owner away...etc. I had a similar situation. My boat was in the boat yard with the drain plug installed. It has an automatic bilge pump but I had detected a slight power drain so had disconnected the battery. The weather was clear so I wasn't worried. However, it started raining Sunday night and rained 9 inches before it stopped. The boat yard was closed and I couldn't get in until Tuesday morning. The hull was half full of water and had risen over the diesel engine covering the oil dipstick so it had water intrusion. What an expensive mess. I'm glad you got yours going again. Thanks for posting.
Ohh! I feel for you Sir! We kinda knew what we was going for when we bought this boat, and the stakes was not that high. But if you have a proper boat with a newer engine that you can't service yourself it sounds like a lot of work and money! Thank you for sharing, and following the series! We are working on a proper engine overhaul - so watching for that episode! =)
When docking an old leaky boat that might sink, if it is small enough, you can put large air bags below and maintain a level of buoyancy. I get them free at work. they use them as load controllers in truck trailers. They are tough and are meant as throwaways.
Ya it kinda sunk .Like rain is kinda wet love it .I really want to see that roll of plastic your going to use to wrap the hull with . I do give you a thumbs up though .

Lowering only makes sense for cars ;-) Sorry for the irony, in reality I feel with you. More than 10 years ago my sailboat in the winter harbour also sank to me. A small leak at the shaft seal in connection with an incompetent harbour master. Thank God not the giant problem, the boat was completely empty and much lighter than yours. We got it floatable again with air cushions and all tangible fenders, towed it to the crane and lifted it bit by bit (as fast as the Punpe managed to transport the water outboard). Then came the unpleasant part, two weeks of cleaning and woodwork, rinsing the engine and tank and above all replacing the stupid shaft seal. And all this in February at temperatures slightly above zero degrees...

@@adventuresofglimt That is fine...I am proud owner of the norwegian trawler here at Finland so it is nice to see how you manage there. Any shipyard near where you live ? Perhaps you should take Glimt up for an winter and re-caulk it fully ?
I have a question for you since you where in Norway Do you understand this: Tre undervanns båt fra Norge If you understood: comment Edit: sorry for bad spelling
Chris D'oulmeth To be a little pedantic the correct would be: "Undervannsbåt i tre fra Norge", but a norwegian (I) would probably say: "norsk treubåt". "Undervannsbåt" is two words written as one composite word and if connected with "tre-", we would just expand the whole word to a new composite word: "treundervannsbåt". Only one substantive can "occupy" any position in a sentence. Only an adjective or a number can be put in front of a substantive w.o. making a new word. For that reason I also read it as "Three under-water boats from Norway" first, since "tre" also could be a number. Google translate would not capture this and will always miss out on composite words. These days this is a big problem for the norwegian language, since spell-checks presupposes that words are static like in english. By this reason it is easy for pedantic norwegians to spot when spell-check is used by an uninformed writer as the spell-check removes the "red underscore" when they "correct" the composite word (not in the digital dictionary) to be incorrect. Proper names are always written with a capital first letter in norwegian: "Norge".
Yeah, it sunk some weeks before this attempt, and Martin managed to refloat it by himself in an truly epic effort - but he did not not manage to film anything. So no way to make a UA-cam film that time. Luckily it sank again so we could film it! :)
Angelina Hart Thank you. We start learning English at school from age 6, and I’m grateful to those who made that decision. English spoken movies/TV shows are not dubbed here, which helps a bit too. I’d say that the average Norwegian writes & listens to a lot of English, but it’s not that often we get to speak it. Hence why most of us tend to speak it with the tone of a Norwegian dialect.
@@kjellodnebreitebakk All of you speak great English. Most of the world speaks 2 or more languages except most Americans. I don't blame Americans (which I am) but our educational system. I'm trying to learn Arabic as I really love visiting the Middle East (don't believe what the media tells you, it's a beautiful rich culture) but not an easy language to learn, especially for an old guy like me.
Steve Laminack To be fair, most Americans I’ve met when travelling, knew 3 languages. But yeah, I agree about the middle east. I’ve met countless people who fled when the wars broke out. They are indeed very nice, hospitable people in general who takes great care of their visitors.

Adventures of Glimt bare hyggelig lykke til med båten
Morso stove yay!!!
Any new videos recently ?
Working on episode 6 now. The plan is to release it today! =)
@@adventuresofglimt That is fine...I am proud owner of the norwegian trawler here at Finland so it is nice to see how you manage there. Any shipyard near where you live ? Perhaps you should take Glimt up for an winter and re-caulk it fully ?
I have a question for you since you where in Norway
Do you understand this: Tre undervanns båt fra Norge
If you understood: comment
Edit: sorry for bad spelling
Anybody can understand that with google translate, DUH
@Chris D'oulmeth three underwater boats from norway
@Chris D'oulmeth Then Noob's translation or spelling is incorrect.
Hmmm.... Stan Rogers and his song "The Mary Ellen Carter" comes to mind!
Had to google the song - and I do totally agree! Fantastic song! =)

You’re lucky, I thought Fjords ran really deep
Yeah, we where quite lucky! =) And I am not sure it really qualifies as a fjord...
So thats the 2nd time it sunk! lol
Yeah, it sunk some weeks before this attempt, and Martin managed to refloat it by himself in an truly epic effort - but he did not not manage to film anything. So no way to make a UA-cam film that time. Luckily it sank again so we could film it! :)
@@adventuresofglimt lol that's the funniest thing I have heard in a while. I'm glad its above water now and hope you get to enjoy it for a few years.
It didn’t sink too deep ! Mmmmmmmm
Yes but the ship could have tilted to the side
This is a little boaty
1:10 Paul Watson came along ??
Wd40 works way better than the torch. Given that wd40 was made to dry out electrical circuits!

I thought the thumbnail was a cablecar. :)
Norwegian kid speaks better English than most Americans...
You are lucky it stayed upright. That boat should have been upside down and completely under water.
3:40 - OK whats up... Not the boat.
music like from avengers :) Regards
