    What an excellent educational program. It's just fantastic! I can't wait to share this with my grandchildren. They are always wondering why Papa is doing this or that. This will help them understand. Thanks fellas!

    REALLY like those carbine length muzzle loaders 👍🏼 A man starts off shooting whatever his uncle or roommate owns: a .38 or maybe a .357. A few semi autos. Then you try trap & skeet & it’s all about shotguns. Next you want an AR or AK. Then something strange happens. Pretty soon you want a late 19th Century lever gun. Or a cap n ball revolver from the mid-1800’s. The gun enthusiast illness is quite complete when you find yourself thinking “I’d like a black powder gun.” (even though they’re expensive)

    Good job on the video! Very entertaining. The sights on Stray Dogs gun was a little too modern though. Just nitpickin. I liked the video.

      Both are very modern black powder hunting rifles.
      They are not traditional style long guns.

    I love it! I'm building my impersonation of a 1820-1840 free trapper. I'm trying to make everything I can by hand working off the old scetch books. It's harder than I thought, not the actual making and sewing, I love that part, but trying to be accurate and not Hollywood. Like my shooting bag, it's all hand made with no rivets but the leather itself might not pass muster. And like this beautiful Bowie I was given, it might be ok walking around rendezvous with it as long as you don't pull it out and show that big ol shinin' stainless blade lol. I'll get it all together eventually. I just don't want to be what the civil war reenactors call "farb" . you two look great

    Good video and a nice introduction to the ways of the old mountain men. You can count me as a subscriber. Looking forward to seeing more. How about an episode on your cutting tools and how you use them for various tasks. Wood processing, game processing and general camp chores.

    Would historic Mountain Men have tanned the hides, or just scraped them?

    • @reallearningrealadventure9708
      @reallearningrealadventure9708  Рік тому +1

      Mostly tan them or trade with natives, and as a last resort just scrap it. But that makes for a very uncomfortable garment. Although, beaver pelts probably would've been just scraped and dried and then stacked and bundled to be traded at the rendezvous.

    I subscribed like what y'all are doing. I have a flintlock, and a cap ball 50 cal. Been working on getting my gear together for the same thing. I enjoyed the video. The next video show how to make chard punk wood. For when you run out of cotton material, I Carry both. Great video love y'all.

    As soon as you pulled out the CHAR, not charred. You proved how ignorant you are about this period of hustor and the skills and materials used. Pants didnt have fringes either.
