Happy New Year Thank you Chad for gifting us with new ways to make meaningful connections and say no way to stale name tags and random icebreakers #ChadsaidConnectbeforeContent!
Hi Chad, really appreciate your work and the impactful approaches. Do you have something to put connection before content during a virtual training session
Lots and lots of ideas, Paul. Here are some: ua-cam.com/video/QkabDHdgB0M/v-deo.htmlsi=szGtyEuIjnythT01 and I also wrote an entire book loaded with practical suggestions: weand.me/product/how-to-make-virtual-engagement-easy-book/
@Chad, i think it's time to start calling 'Icebreakers' 'Connection-Makers'; 'Connection before content' activity doesn't roll off the tongue like 'icebreaker' does... =)
Facilitators choice 🙂 I wouldn't ever say the word "activity" in front of a group actually...I would share the intention to create some "connection before content" ... words like "activity" or "game" can excite half of a group while alienating or annoying the other half regardless of what would gets put in front of them. More compelling to just get clear about the intention for whatever you are going to be doing...state that...then jump right into Step 1 or the instructions. This is just IMHO of course.
Thanks Chad, I am not new to leading but I am new to “your ways”. I love the alternative direction and thought patterns you create. I am experimenting with my team to see what we can achieve or likely what I can deliver for them. How do you decide with a newish team what the topics could or should be please ?
I'd consider "why does the team exist" and can I craft some thoughtful "connection before content" that aligns with the teams overall function/goals in some way±even tangentially. If it is a finance team, kicking off with "What is one of the most intense stories about "fraud" that you've witnessed?" could be a decent example.
Happy New Year

Chad-great thoughts! I love the Change/ Sustain Talk and Problem/ Possible Talk re-framing.
And the To-Do to To-Be list is amazing!

I love the To-Be list! I will potentially start with this everyday!
Right!
Hey Chad 😉 Great thoughts as ever, thank you so much. I will try out the To-Be List directly in our next meeting. All the best. Matz
