I wonder if its all about scare mongering, our daughter just spent week in palma nova, had a fantastic time, no problem, no protest, nothing but happy family beach, pool hotel time, all is well, don't believe the rubbish n tbe oress its all bull, not sure why they are wanting to spread all this negative info about mallorca, its all good
You are spot on. It is all being blown up by British newspapers and our own Majorca Bulletin.
El día 30 hemos estado en Santa Ponsa, después de comer en Son Ferrer, en el Mesón, paella, bacalao y granizado de almendra. 14,50€ each.
Nos gusta el Mesón Son Ferrer.
Hi Steve great video. I walked passed you and said hello when you was walking up the hill towards the square and I was walking down with some bread for the ducks. Didn’t realise it was you until you had passed me 👍🏻
I remembers seeing you walking down.
The British press(daily mail) are reporting the beach in Magaluf has been nearly empty after the protests in Mallorca, have you seen a change since the protests??
The change is in the government's response. There are proposals being put forward today that may have an effect. As for the beaches being quiet... it is still only May!
At 07:30 in this video you state the “beach invasion” relates to one specific beach. What beach do you refer to?
It is Colonia Sant Jordi on the south-east coast. Sa Rapita has also been mentioned.
What are all those lines in the sky
Thinking its those Chem trails, it's a way of spraying and controlling our weather, its been happening for decades, you can research it.
Probably the vapour trail from the aeroplanes flying over.
You are right steve, i found it to be very slippy in that area few weeks ago, i had to walk flat footed as i have a knee problem abd didn't want to slip
I'm glad it was not just me.
Hi Steve is there a way of checking if a tourist license is legit like some kind of website checker
That is a good question, and I don't know the answer. Some places display an ETV plaque.
Great video weather looks great 👍😉
I do like the temperatures at this time of the year.
What a lovely walk, at least doing it that way round you have a lovely long walk downhill to reward yourself. I think you are bang on with the government having to look to themselves & sort this thing quickly. I think Santa Ponsa in the evening might be a bit too much for me. While they are sorting everything else, they do need to look at that crumbling path again.
The repair they has already broken. It will soon be Mission Impossible again!!!
Nice informative video and as always i value your opinion on the housing issues for locals. Agree wholheartedly👍🏽..on a side note love seeing Santa Ponsa..my number 1 home in Mallorca😊..Flying out Sunday for 2 nights in Paguera then 7 nights in lovely Santa Ponsa and finally 2 nites in Palma for the city culture as always. Hope you and Anita are trekking near me then❤🎉
Anita is back on Monday, so we will be out and about.
Have you seen they are charging €70 a day for 2sunbeds and a parasol on Calla major beach just below the Nixe Palace hotel. Outrageous. The newspaper that is really stirring everything up is the Mallorca bulletin. Thanks Steve.
More headline grabbing stuff! I will go down and have a look, but the 70 euro sunbeds seem to be something different to the normal beds.
@@SteveandAnitainMallorca yes for the extra money you get a cushion.
After watching your video I am now even more desperate to get to Santa Ponsa at the end of September. Laughed at 'without The Mission Impossible music' part. Thank you.
The "Mission Impossible" part was inspired by Faith when it was a little more tricky to get over the broken path. Hope you have a great time in September.
Thank you Steve. Until then I will travel around the island with you and Anita via your films 👍👏🌞🌊.
Good morning Steve,
hubby and I are flying out soon for a couple of weeks.
I must say, we're feeling troubled by the news coming out of beautiful mallorca. Thank you for reporting the news to us all. Many in the media and yes, UA-cam vloggers too can be quite the scaremongers just to suit themselves. It's clear that you do feel moved by what is going and as someone that has spent decades there working and raising a family it's no wonder too.
I live in a Welsh coastal town and we too get flooded with tourists at what we call the silly season. It's frustrating sometimes when it's harder or longer to get from a to b or there are some tourists that let their hair down a little too much. It brings money in to the town though and I'm glad there are people who choose to visit and share my town with me for however long they stay.
We too, like many places in the UK, Mallorca and no doubt lots of other places worldwide are having huge problems with affordable housing. It doesn't feel right to me that individuals and families are struggling to find an affordable roof over their heads when there are others with multiple properties. It's a complex situation though isn’t it? No idea what the solution is to it. However, frightening tourists surely is not the answer to it!
Do you have any further information on the 'invasion of the beaches' that you mentioned? We would certainly look to steer clear of it.
Thank you for your comments. There is a plans for locals to go to a beach in Colonia Sant Jordi and Sa Rapita this weekend. Sa Rapita is a very big beach so I can't see it have much effect there. Colonia Sant Jordi is pretty big so again, I can't see much happening there. If you are going to Santa Ponsa, or Palmanova, or any of the other resorts on the island, you are unlikely to see any of the protests. I hope you have a great holiday.
Thank you@SteveandAnitainMallorca this will be our fifth visit in the past year. All the others have been low season. We usually take our bikes with us, stay in a hotel half board and spend the days cycling around the island. This will be the first time in years that we're not taking bikes but I expect we might rent for a few days cycling. I guess it will be busier than we've seen in years. It was a spur of the moment booking to celebrate some good news after a health scare. We're both looking forward to seeing more shops and restaurants open than we usually get to see and hopefully some sunshine too 👏
We always keep an eye out for you both. Hopefully, with two weeks in Palmanova, we'll finally bump into you both 🙂
@@vickydavies1127 Good to hear that you have had good news and hope you have a great time in Palmanova.
Lived in Santa Ponsa for 2 or 3 years and never went to the beach. Walked by it nearly everyday. I remember somebody putting a kind of fairy liquid in the fountain. Foam everywhere.
The fairy liquid in the fountains used to be a popular trick in many fountains years ago.
Morning steve
Lovely to see santa ponsa again ,have to say though aftter 60yrs going there and 55yrs havining a apartment there have sold up just found it wasn't the same
Will keep watching
Thanks Mark, there must have been a lot of changes in 60 years!
Hi steve, i am due to go to santa ponsa in july with my family. To me, it seems safe and we will be fine, do you feel there is no problem? I told my wife i think it is british media trying to put people off going abroad and to stay home and spend money! I went in aug last year and loved it, and everyone was friendly and welcoming. Obviously, i understand the points they have on drunks and housing costs and what it can do to their home land. I think this is a small minority tho that is causing the upset with tourists as most know they need the tourism buisness
Mallorca is a beautiful, safe place to live and visit. You will have a great time.
Thank you 👍
Have the protests affected Santa Ponca
Not at all
@@SteveandAnitainMallorca sorry just seen this reply!! Thank you. We were there (El Toro), begining of July and back nwxt week and everything was very peaceful. Think it is probably sensible to avoid Palma when a protest is on though x
your videos are great and very informative .
Glad you like them!
Great walk around Steve. Really enjoyed your commentary and discussions.
Cheers 🍻
Thanks Chris
I enjoyed your wee walk. Very relaxing lounging in front of my 📺
Glad you enjoyed it
Love the homes on the hill. Another fun video, thank you!
Thank you
The SRM in Spain is out of control and well documented in this video.
Lanzarote and Mallorca both heavily involved. Really disappointing and putting me off paying to come on holiday to Spain
In places like Santa Ponsa you wouldn't know anything about it.
@@SteveandAnitainMallorca I’m guessing you’ve noticed too? Long time viewer of your channel. Was in Cala Dor last year and noticed it there. Out of Two weeks I saw about 4 days of sunshine. Soon as you see the skies in the morning or evening you knew what was coming
