Maybe I actually made all the footage in the first part of this video out of focus on purpose as a statement on the lack of FOCUS in these movies, or maybe I should have checked to see if the camera was set on manual focus or not, the world may never know.
Also, I agree with that other guy in the comments. I would also be interested to know your thoughts on the Snyder cut of JL, or watchmen if you're bored - I Just saw it for the 1st time

Ah yes, the OTHER super dated 2000's horror action franchise with a lead actress who's husband is the director. But this time, it's based on a video game.
@@jfassettx123 He's talking about Underworld since at the time the films came out Kate Beckinsale who played Selene was married to Len Wiseman who directed the first 2 Underworlds then produced the prequel and the other 2 sequels.
The more you upload videos where you give in-depth explanations of a narrative through-line in series that don't seem to make any sense overall, and the more you meme about Kingdom Hearts, the more I want to see a Ross McIntyre video "Exploring the Kingdom Hearts Games."
Ross if you need someone to guide you through the SAW franchise, I am your man. I have seen each entry at least 3 times at this point. And it has much of the same consistency of redcons and twists that make no sense as the resident evil series.
hey Ross. please play the games. please. or watch somebody else play them. if you need advice on where to start or what the order is, I can make one. but please play the RE games, they’re worth your time and attention. it might even re-contextualize how you feel about this series. as a lifelong RE fan, I felt these movies were cool, but they ultimately had very little to do with RE other than some shoehorned characters and locations. playing the games might help you understand how much of a betrayal these movies were to some RE fans lol. most of the references and “easter eggs” were so poorly done that they didn’t even register as fan service. these movies were Paul W.S. Anderson drooling over his wife, they were made for him and him alone. that’s it.
9:20 I still don't know why they set up Alice planning to storm Umbrella headquarters with an army of her clones at the end of Extinction if the clones were just going to be killed off at the start of Afterlife. And given how The Final Chapter retcons Alice into being a clone of the daughter of Umbrella's founder James Marcus Umbrella were cloning a clone during Extinction apparently.
I like 1 and 2 but didn't even know their was a 6th. The amazing thing about the resident evil series is how cultural irrelevant they are. Being one of the 1st to the zombie trend, along with a growing cycnism of corporate power the films could have been a reference point for a generation.
Chris in the games is a yoked Vin Diesel GigaChad so that's a missed opportunity. The games aren't as intimidating as you think, the games that are the best to dip your toe into are RE7, RE2 remake and RE Village. Each have moments of batshit insanity but also a strong focus on horror and atmosphere. I haven't even played all of them and I consider myself a fan. Resident Evil 7 in VR is pretty unforgettable as a horror experience and a good introduction to the series
Everything about the movies was always just so off. Especially from the perspective of someone who grew up playing the games, the reliance on a fanfiction-tier OC wouldn't have even bothered me so much if they didn't also needlessly include characters from the games for more or less no reason at all, because they never do anything.
Eh. I don't mind the first one. It's a decent watch. The 2nd and 3rd? Eh, 50/50. The rest I don't care for. Once you're done, just listen to Umbrella Chronicles [Resident Evil] (Parody of Rihanna's "Umbrella"). It will cure you.
Ross, have you ever considered making videos on stuff such as the MCU films, or maybe even the DCEU films? I’m genuinely interested to know your thoughts on the DCEU version of the Flash, as well as your opinions on the Justice League Snyder Cut in general. Also, just a bit of a cringe warning for your inevitable Flash season 6 video: Barry calls Iris his “lightning rod” in the finale (the real finale not the bullshit coronavirus finale).
These films are just Paul Anderson somehow getting money to film fanfictions of his wife Milla Jovovich. Characters from the games like Chris, Jill, Leon, Claire, Ada, Wesker, Nemesis and the like are all pushed aside to put the spotlight on the Mary Sue Alice.
I suppose we have totally different tastes. I mean, for me the first movie was the best by a very long shot. It looks like they actually tried. If you remove the "resident evil" from the title it could have been quite a decent sci-fi movie with zombies to be honest. I liked the deaths, I liked the over the top action in some places (fun, the kick to the dog), I LOVED the music, I loved the twist even if now it looks obvious... And the characters were pretty ok. Milla is bland, right, but that fits with her character because she had no memory. In the following movies, everything looked messy for me. Nonsensical to the extreme. Almost every line looked like they stopped caring at all, but that could be me. Every scene looked almost improvised. No planning forward. Just adding stuff and see what happened. Every movie seemed worse than the previous one to me. I stopped watching after the third for many years, then I found another in the tv and I decided to watch each movie. It was like sharknado... Stupid, and they knew it was stupid, so it would have been kind of fun for me if it wasn't for the fact that I used to love the games. It hurt more than anything.
I know you have moved on from the types of videos, but will you be making a video on Flash Season 6 now that the season six storyline has ended? Speed Weed signing out with a referential joke
Okay question has milla jovovich ever been in a genuinely good film or has shown any signs that she can act or she is just hired because of how hot she is
I know you said you wanted to stay away from MCU stuff but not only is Agents of Shield a great show but you don't need to be concerned with MCU connections. The show is it's own thing that occasionally mentions the Avengers and the first season may be the weakest, but it's not bad. If you could get behind the cheesy as hell tone of the Arrowverse shows then you should be able to get behind the first few episodes, especially that even then it has much better written dialogue, good written characters that evolve with every season, and a good story unlike the Arrowverse that just has caracatures that shout exposition and very rarely talk like real people. Please, I'm begging you, watch the show, and then talk about it on the channel, you won't regret it.
Rewatch Man of Steel, BvS and Snyder cut and actually judge Snyders Universe. Should be allowed to carry on his universe? Yes but P.S Jesse Eisenberg is the worst casting in movie history.
His "universe" was a rushed mess with poor characterization and strange direction choices, drowned in a dour and melodramatic tone, with admittedly great visuals. Even if his direction hadn't consistently been flashy cinematography and little substance, putting a director and head writer (Goyer) in charge of introducing your DC franchise when they both openly hate the character of Superman is a obviously stupid decision. He and his fans should be overjoyed that the studio actually chose to invest millions into a new cut of JL that they had absolutely no obligation to make, and let the DC films finally move on from his choices. Also, Eisenberg as Luthor is not inherently bad casting by any measure. Lex Luthor's age in comparison to Superman has never been a fundamental part ot his character. Eisenberg playing an intellectual egomaniac is very clearly something he's great at with good material, with The Social Network serving as a prime example. The actual writing for the character of Lex, his poorly explained role in the story and atrocious dialogue are why Snyder's Luthor was terrible, not Eisenberg himself.
Maybe I actually made all the footage in the first part of this video out of focus on purpose as a statement on the lack of FOCUS in these movies, or maybe I should have checked to see if the camera was set on manual focus or not, the world may never know.
