Back then, Shark Tale was considered to be the absolute worst among DreamWorks Animation for how cliché and corporate it utilize pop cultural references for a quick cash grab in Hollywood's Standards, most would even argue that it's a rip off to Disney/Pixar's Finding Nemo, but after rewatching this film almost 2 decades later, the core message behind the story is a lot more relevant than what viewers gave credit from it's negative reception. In modern society, we are seeing more exploitation of facade going on both in the music and Film Industry. The movie may not have aged well in terms of quality, but truth be told, the narrative was actually ahead of its time.
This scene is always sad too see Oscar sad about how he feels like he wanted to be a somebody, but lied about how he was a shark slayer and wanted to be recognized I feel sorry for him I almost feel the same way especially about a woman how I feel about her. This movie brings me back memories watching this when I was 11 years old, and as I get older I still get emotional to this song. 😥
I feel very emotional to this song too. All Oscar wanted to be was a somebody and gain respect from others, and all he wanted to be was special, but he never got the chance to notice that he was a somebody and was already getting respect because he had Angie as his best friend for a very long time which he valued very much, and he didn't got the chance that he was already special in his own way since everybody is already special in their own way. Oh, and by the way, when Oscar realized the consequences of his lie and how it affected him as well as the ones he cared about such as Angie, he began to realize his mistakes and the error of his ways, and he also realized that he did had a great life before he told everybody his great white lie. Oscar began to miss his old life after he realized how much harm his lie caused and the person he had became, and he resents his new lifestyle as the Sharkslayer which is a dishonest life and is no way for anybody to live.
Don't ever think that everything wasn't good enough for you in your life. Accept who are as person that has real friends that care about you for you, not because your rich. The worst thing that can happen to you when your like oscar here in this video, is to lose your friends and or love ones. Be proud of who you are no matter what.
Guess what, Brit? I work at a nursery school now and one of the babies name is Oscar! Do you want to have a baby brother named Oscar or are you just happy with your family?
Biggest lesson in the movie, do not lie. One lie can start to grow even more especially pretending something you’re not. Oscar earned fame, money, a fancy apartment and got what he always wanted and being a “somebody” but earned it for something he did not take credit for. In the end, he realized his mistake when Angie explained the con Celebrity he is and earned his success with one lie when it all started with Oscar saying he killed a shark when it was an anchor that killed him in which he is known as the Shark Slayer. Wish they still make movies like this.
Me too, and I think Oscar is one of the most realistic DreamWorks protagonists and he really learned the hard way when Angie called him out as a con-artist and how he has earned his money and fame by telling a lie which causes more harm than good.
Oscar wanted to be a somebody, but he had to lie to get it. He befriended Lenny and Angie discovered the lie. Oscar and Lenny made a huge fight through the city with Oscar emerging victorious. But the weight of Oscar’s fame also hit his ego until Angie stated she loved Oscar when he was nobody. When she pointed out that he was a joke, everything soon began to click with Oscar. His swim through the city, sighing in shame while seeing his face plastered on every advertising board made him realize that he really was living a lie. He’s trying to be someone that he’s not and realized what he had before the lie. It was a sad moment for him. He realized that he was better in his old life. He was still a Nobody.

True, while Oscar does strongly value his friendship with Angie and cares about her so much, he was insecure to notice that she has feelings for him and he has been putting his dreams of fame and fortune before her in order to become a somebody after what he has been through during his childhood without even noticing that he was a somebody already by being himself and was living the good life alread. Despite Oscar's faults, I sympathize him very much as well as I sympathize with Angie and Lenny.

Oscar's great white lie has done nothing but caused problems, and it also caused a rift in his longtime friendship with Angie which he valued for a long time. Later, his lie goes way too far and the rift between him and Angie escalates right after he unintentionally allowed himself to be used by Lola who is a gold digger and shared that kiss with her on the news which is actually a publicity stunt. Oscar would later realize that taking credit for killing a shark which he never did was a huge mistake and would also regret for allowing himself to be used by Lola while he was keeping up with his scam.
Ya he cannot
Because it's all of Frankie and Lola's Fault
Yes it is
@@maliksimmons513 Mmm-hmm. And he realized that he couldn't continue with his Sharkslayer scam anymore after he realized his mistakes and the error of his ways. He really saw how much harm his lie caused and how much it has affected him, and it's a good thing he came to his senses before it's too late.
I really upset they couldn't make a series out of this movie
Sometimes certain movies don’t make it to the box office. I feel you
@@stefanmovieflixtomasi It actually was pretty successful at the box office but it’s hated by a lot of Dreamworks’s fans and critics
@@dong.corleoneoh I see. This is an underrated DreamWorks/Universal flick since Thunderbirds. Not the best movie from that but still underrated
Well, I honestly think Shark Tale deserves more appreciation, and I honestly don't care what others people say about the movie. I think Shark Tale is a really good movie, and I think it's one of those kinds of movies that is very interesting and unique to watch. It has been one of my favorite movies since I was a little kid, and I still enjoy it today, and I really praise the main character of the movie Oscar 'cause he's a decent protagonist as well as a realistic protagonist who is very interesting and unique to watch, and I root for Oscar despite for his flaws and I like him.
@@aliyahavery31 I agree with you 💯 I wish that this movie deserved a sequel
