I'm a complete newbie to this sort of thing, but for me I tend to just slice using the equal option instead of transient and that keeps the slight offsets in the original sample. Lazy/efficient and with extra groove, win-win! 😛 I appreciate the additional effort that goes into this method though!
Big up G! Really appreciate that - you of all people know the time sunk into editing, but I think with practice I'll just quicker and quicker at editing the highlights... this was a sick stream to do that with!
I deliberated about making this into a shorter video edit, but glad I did. Really appreciated the feedback, I'm sure others want to do this kind of thing and it might not be obvious straight away.
I'm in the US, but when you did your Shack Up edits I think I heard Paradox's chair squeak around with curiosity all the way from Lithuania. Thanks for documenting this process. Your, Groovin, and Stranjah's vids have been helpful in showing how to workflow with Amigo. This MIDI trick is super useful. I hope to figure out how to do this in Logic. I think I can drag and drop the MIDI chops from Maschine and then time up with Amigo slicing.
I have a Maschine on the way from ebay, I already have this and many more as rex files already chopped. It will be nice to trigger new patterns from the pads but still all can be done in the computer. I mainly got it for easier sampling and chopping on the hardware but it does a lot more, I need it now to play on.
Well... thank you so much for the nice comment... I couldn't ask for more really! I've been deep on a Paradox tip the last year of so (fave tracks 'Back from Eternity' with Seba and 'Atka'). I love not only the way his grooves sound, but just how funky they are. Like intricate but not too much so, and all the while so soulful. I love this way of working with breaks, and I love the additional flavour Amigo adds, this first I wanted to do with it is integrate this way of working. And always my pleasure sharing the insights and learning. We all apply it in a different way, and that's the joy of music. Hope you figure it out in Logic, I'm sure if you do others would love to know how you do it. Thanks again :)
@@HumanSynthetics Hopefully comes this morning. Only £164 MKIII. I found the maschine can load rex and hopefully the midi as well, but coming back out and slicing into Amigo is too much of a ballache for me. I think would be better off progamming them first and bouncing to audio and loading in amigo if needed to. But if amigo could do rex or something similar then I would trigger amigo from the maschine instead.
For me at the Moment the Alligator Bogaloo is my favorite Break, also the whole SoulPride. I am totaly adicted to chop Long Breaks into sections Like kick + hat, snare + shuffle and so on. In January i will send you some new racks If you are interrested in.
Yes please GL! I loved the og devices you sent me, I thought they were really smart and sounded great. I'd be delighted to spotlight them here for you again. I completely agree about Scorpio. I love that snare!! So big and metallic. I haven't heard the Alligator Boogaloo - I'll check that out asap.
Thanks! Oh gosh I'm not sure, got sent this by a mate along with a bunch of other lesser known breaks. It could well have been run through an Akai or Emu on the way over.
Would you spend the time doing this? Do you think the end result is worth the time?

These edits are great mate, more of these in the future please. :) ✌

@@HumanSynthetics Gotta get those premier pro editing Hotkeys down. then you speed through :)
@@groovining actually need to learn/apply those! Pretty happy with the shortcuts but you can assign macros??
bro this is VERY helpful thank you
My pleasure man! Glad it's been useful, I'm just finishing up the layered breaks video edit from the same livestream. Cheers
Nice workflow bookmarking this for Ron 😎

Ahh nice, yeah something real to hit makes a huge difference. I couldn't do without my MIDI controllers. Hope you have lots of fun when it arrives!

Nice one. Also Scorpio is so versatile.

Cheers GL - 'chopping breaks is a meditation' - get that on a tshirt I reckon!
Very nice! That version of Scorpio sounds very different to the original break. Where did it come from?

@ ok cheers. The search continues then!
Needs a new feature to import classic Rex files, Rx2
Good shout! That would be nice, I've got a bunch of those and would save some time.
