Nardi played amazing especially in the third set, but it’s strange how Djokovic didn’t even try to run after some of the short balls and volleys that looked totally makeable by his standard. It looks like he is not really motivated to play his best outside grand slams anymore. Or he is closer to retirement than everyone thought. Even the GOAT can’t run around with 15+ years younger guys forever.

But even then he's not the favorite of winning let's said AO or USO anymore.
He was during 2022,but he let an old man Nadal
beat him from 2 set love, and it happened again this year against Sinner .

But in the recent AUS Open final I noticed a try to change his game in a more propositive way (obviously, he had to pay the toll against Sinner for the 3 or 4 setter matches he previously played). But that way is the right one, just my humble opinion anyway...

You don't win 24 slams and 40 masters by being outplayed by a player outside the Top 100... playing the match of his life.
The aura of invincibility around Djokovic is over. Even if he had won this match, i don't think he was getting past Paul-Rune-Sinner and Alcaraz potentially to lift the title.
Unless he completely reinvigorates himself for a last hurrah...i don't see Djokovic winning any more masters, let alone slams. Too much competition and too many uber talented, high on belief young guns.

Normally Djoko gets a lot of free wins after losing the first set when his (young) opponents go OMGOMGOMGIMAYBEATTHEGOAT and drop their level. Expected it to happen to Nardi as well seeing him lose the second set. But he didn't! It's only a matter of time when Djoko loses that mental advantage and starts dropping out before quarter finals because opponents stop choking. Happy for Nardi to have beaten the GOAT while he's still in GOAT mode. You can never take that away.

Djokovic playing anywhere between 80 to 100 percent of his capability with his trademark intensity and focus can beat any player in history, let alone Nardin.
The problem is that the natural fire, intensity, and focus seem to be missing since the start of the year for Djokovic. He just seems to be going through the motions and trying to have a good time outside of matches. It doesn't suit the wolf mentality of Novak one bit.

Not a bad day of tennis. Fritz, Paul, Gauff, & Navarro join Shelton in R4 for Team USA. Glad to see it. Dimitrov enjoyed his match against Pusherino. "You've got to put him away because he gives you nothing." Ruud got his fill of revenge against Fils in a clinical manner. Meddy tussled thrice in the cold with Korda whose kinesio tape on his lower abs underscored struggles with 1st serve. Holger Ruined the Muse who seems utterly outgunned by everyone this year. Good luck, Enzo with becoming a dad later in March. Moldfils bested Noway in three, though his wife couldn't do the same to Navarro. Then of course there was Next Gen Nardi noping Novaxx. The ITIA is still watching you, Creatina.
