The real scandal of Dickie was his sponsoring the disastrous, under-prepared and poorly planned Dieppe Raid, and then lying about it (as he did on many other matters) in the obsequious television series "The Life and Times of Lord Mountbatten" which British television broadcast in the 1970s. The series was the crudest form of propaganda.

@acommentator4452 yes he was a German-Jewish banker who was ennobled by the King. Many authors do conceal this fact. I emailed the latest biographer of Mountbatten and told him that he had devoted a half paragraph about her descent. He did not really respond.
