It's called posting, it's a movement that goes along with the horses stride and makes riding the trot much easier and less jarring :)

What a beautiful video! I am not very experienced and don't get to ride often, but have always loved to do so. Growing up in the St. Louis area, we often visited Grants Farm - the Clydesdales there are just gorgeous! When my husband, daughter, and I were in Scotland a few years ago, we were thrilled to be able to ride Clydesdales - thru a gentle forest trail, along a beach, into a loch and back. That being my only time actually up on a Clydesdale, I was stunned at their awesome size and power.

I've been riding a Clydesdale- thoroghbreed for the last two years, and he is so sweet. He would never do anything to hurt someone or disobey. A lot of people are afraid of bigger horses, but they don't know that they're really gentle, whereas ponies can be really hard to work with.

I agree with every comment the lady on the video said about these horses. I have two and they are the gentlest most eager to please horses ever. My boy has had two kids sitting on his back beaming with smiles. That aside, to have one of these magnificent creatures want to be with you, run free with you then carry you on his back for an exhilerating canter...it is indescribable. One word of warning though, WEAR A HARD HAT. 17-19hh is a very long and painful way down if you happen to fall off.

thank you~ thank you~ I'm looking at a 2 yrs old clydesdale next week , a rescue. I had a canadian for 18 yrs, he passed in 2017, i am 57 now and haven't ridden in 3 yrs, I can't wait. having now seen your videos, I so look forward to meeting him. I rode my horse only bareback and for pleasure. however I can't find a barn that will board him, any suggestions?

Its admirable what this couple is doing... I hope they are able to make enough of a profit to survive though... but I hope they are for the sake of the horse.

They are riding english style NOT western. Different technique. Clydesdales are awesome horses to ride. It is like you are in permanent slow motion while riding until you take them off for a little canter LOL. I have two of these fantastic horses and they are priceless. For a yearling int he UK you can expect to pay around £800. For a grown up who has been backed and does dressage at competition level - name your price! I paid £5k for my 5 year old and he is worth every penny.

Wonderful! I wish you were not so far away - I'd come visit. The only Clydesdale I own, is an animated 3d version of these fantastic horses that I built and animated. I can really understand your love for the "gentle giants".

Ok by the time I get a horse, they probably would have invented a saddle with suspension and shocks HAHAHAHA that would be AWESOME!!!

It is english riding style not western. Nothing dorky about it. The position they are riding is called riding trot. I agree it does look odd if you are not used to seeing it but it does stop you bouncing up and down on the backs of these delicate creatures...

I read the title and was expecting TWH-Clydesdale crosses, lol. You should try it -- Maybe you'd get gaited Clydes.

Clydesdales are the best, but I prefer them in bay or blue roan sabino.

I don't think a rider is supposed to bounce up and down like that. It's exhausting.

merry chase and it's actually great exercise and supposed to b better on the horse's back. It's an English riding thing.

Why the heck to people bounce like that while trotting? There isn't any reason to do it. to me its really dorky and you should just sit down.
