  • The best fishing show ever takes you into Northern BC, for some massive winter run steelhead fishing with gear. Normally we don't fish roe but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.
    Steelhead are an anadromous rainbow trout and probably one of if not the most prized game fish in Canada and the USA. The come in all shapes and sizes of awesome. The world record for steelhead weighed in at over 40 lbs caught in Washington, USA. The previous world record was taken from Northern British Columbia which is exactly where we are fishing on this adventure.

    I’m new to float fishing and watching this video has me excited. I live in Central NY just miles from the Salmon River in Pulaski, NY. The Salmon run is pretty much over for this fall and now the Steelies and Browns are moving in. Hopefully I can hook my first Steelie this fall/winter. I’m used to swinging streamers on my 4wt on the small local streams for Browns and Brookies. I can’t wait to get after them. Thanks for the awesome video.

    Awesome water, nice fish, great humour....great vid....really like your net! I use a palomar knot on all my terminal tackle(swivels)...have for 45 years....never found a better terminal knot for light mono or braids...would never fish with a double clinch...that would be a source of constant worry for me. Big water and big steelhead push your gear to the threshold.... not much separating you from success or failure. Really cool stuff... loved it! Cheers from Sooke BC.

    lol claiming that fish haha Quinn you weasel . I love your videos jokes aside. I've been doing better in the tributaries here in southern Ontario. I remember asking you for advice. I got my timing improved. you were right it's all about timing when you don't have such beautiful rich watersheds. here I fish small tribs that dump into lake Ontario on the North side. so our runs are dwarfed by yours. but going after lots of rain proves successful. I would go a couple days after lots of rain, when it's safer and the water isn't all chocolate milk like, but still high. I was amazed how previous pieces of water turned into large runs that held lots of fish. the river totally transforms after heavy extensive rains. thanks for the those many moons ago.
    my most successful presentation under the float is a bead in the shades of red pink or orange, and a pink worm. this fall I want to try flies but I'm not sure what a sure shot is. what's a good fly pattern under a float that has true tested precedence? I like the way egg sucking leeches look. it would be nice hooking up with one. what are you favorite Autumn run flies to use? also what's your favorite presentations for brown trout?

    HELP ME...So I decided to start fishing since I live in Michigan (A.K.A. An Angler's Paradise). I've caught many perch/bluegills and one bass. I live nearby the Clinton River, an excellent place for steelhead fishing. Now I know that steelhead are not for beginners. But I've been told by all the fishermen I know that right now (April) is the perfect time for steelhead fishing. I REALLY want to catch one. I have a 7ft graphite quantum rod w/ a spinning reel. Any tips? Should I use real row or fake roe? Worms? Should I use a bobber or drag my bait across the bottom of the river? What about spinners? PLEASE HELP

    • @TheCaptainQuinn
      @TheCaptainQuinn  9 років тому +4

      DOPEST Hey there, pick one rig that your confident in and stick to it, cover water, get your gear down within a couple feet of the bottom and it really is only a matter of time before you hook a steelhead :) roe, beads, blades, spoons, pink worms all work fine. Yes if your starting out use a bobber and get your gear near the bottom. Once you hook a few think about migrating over to the fly :) Good luck, Captain Quinn
