- All in the name of spreading the joy of Cardiacs and giving more exposure to the lyrics of Tim Smith & Co.... Not only for the wild pictures and feelings they conjour in your sparking mind, but also for the unconventional phrasing and placement of the lyrics against the music.

A couple of lyrical queries on this one from me...
These are the official lyrics, but to me a couple of moments sound different.
The first is,
"But two hundred thousand"
Sounds more like,
"But two hundred and thousand"
The second is,
"Missed that only chance
Dying to snatch eden"
Sounds more like,
"Missed that only
Un-dying to snatch eden"
Thoughts?

The good grace of the original lyrics shall always be as good as good as gold.
@@VoidEon I think that maybe the extra syllable sound between "hundred" and "thousand" might actually just be an emphasised "d" at the end of hundred.
"But two hundre-d thousand"
That’s what I’ve always thought of it.
@@VoidEon The other bit though... "missed that only chance"
There's just no way "chance" is uttered at that point! haha
@@notabc1510 It's just Tim stretching out the word with an odd bit of vocalising, innit - like "hundreh-hed thousand"
Superb song. I want this played at my funeral
Not sorry, leaving me all not sorry (I breathed).
Pssst... here's a head scratcher.... I was thinking of doing Hello Mr Minnow next, but I can't find any lyrics that show Jim's line when there are three lines being sung at the same time.
On the Special Garage Concerts, Kavus sings, "You're the next in line for the next best thing but I don't know"
Tim sings, "Don't pity me, I'm just another dead bird on the motorway"
To me it sounds like Jim sings, "Don't look now, you'll soon be slow".... I'm confident of all those words except the last one... could be slow, could be soft, could be something else. Any ideas?
Pretty sure it’s “don’t look now or else you’ll be sorry” because a lot of people translated a bunch of Cardiacs songs on the Facebook group a while ago. A good resource, it is.
well fuck... =(
