  • Father Andre Cirino talks about the three heroes of Assisi, Italy during the Holocaust, whose efforts saved the lives of every Jew who lived and came to the city, more than 200 in all.
The Yom Hashoah event, held April 28, 2011, focused on Don Aldo Brunacci, Bishop Giuseppe Nicolini and Colonel Valentin Muller.

Many of us who have lived in Assisi through the years knew Don Aldo well - and I am happy to hear the truth made public. The film "Assisi Underground" contains much that is true, but it never pleased Don Aldo for fairly obvious reasons. I found the amount of alcohol consumed the product of a sick mind. Nevertheless the work which could not have taken place without Bishop Nicolini, whom I also knew briefly, Don Aldo, and Colonel Mueller resulted in many Jewish lives being saved, so thank God for each one of them.

Hey Rosemary, my name is Shmulik, a student from Israel. Our class was given a project to write a Wikipedia article about the Righteous Among The Nations, and my friend and I got Don Aldo Brunacci. We are having quite a hard time finding information about him, and we really don't want to disrespect him by making his Wikipedia article empty and uninteresting, so I was wondering if maybe we could speak to someone who knew him or his story personally. Is there any option to do so with you?
