Chinese Airlines £480
Everyone else £750
Well, that's how Subsidy work. I won't complain though, it's the Chinese taxpayers money.
@@nntflow7058 Why hasn't the EU banned Chinese airlines like they did with Russia?
@@cainneachdaugherty7172 Huh? Russian airlines got banned because of the war. Not Subsidies.
@@cainneachdaugherty7172 Why should they?
@@nntflow7058 Where did they mention subsidies?
It's the Russian airspace, Chinese airlines don't have to go around. Plus Chinese airlines are cheaper due to labor cost!
Chinese do not demands exorbitant salary like westerners.
@@lancewood1410 Because they are poorer, yes.

@@cia5649 Boeing and Airbus get subsidies too.
At the moment, Western wages no longer match their real level.
Because sanction other also means sanction your own
The dummies in Brussels and the masters in DC didn’t consider sanctions boomeranging on them.
Simple, it's cheaper to fly Air China. No need for foreign company's.
Foreign flight will doomed once China fight taking over the world!
No one wants to go to China
Absolutely
Air China is the only airline flying from China to Wuhan and Wuhan back to China
Fair enough if demand and profitability not there then why do it
Please do NOT be misled by this channel out to smear China. Please read StraitsTimes dated Mar 22, 2024 for the real reason the flights were suspended.
Because China flights are taking over 😂
Chinese carriers will 100% enjoy this gap
Meanwhile CA increased their flights from PEK to SIN. 😂😂
Or the EU could ban them like they did with Russian carriers.
@cainneachdaugherty7172 why would they?
@@mwd331 For the same reasons.
@@cainneachdaugherty7172 the EU banned Russia due to war in Ukraine, what did China do?
Avoiding Russian airspace does NOT help Ukraine in any way, but it hurts western carriers, and rewards Chinese airlines. That's the net result.
It's called sunctions 😅 US sunctions against EU economy
@@annalehman93941You got the point 😂 This is the main reason why there is Ukraine Russia War. But Europe is not in power anymore, so Europe has to be drawn into the war.
its flights *to* china. Flights *from* china is obviously cheaper for obvious reasons.
You don’t understand. The West banned Russia from their airspace so Russia banned the West. They have to avoid it of be legally shot down. China has not banned Russians from their airspace so Chinese planes are free to fly over Russia. Every action has consequences- John Wick.
Ticket fares are just too expensive 😂 resulted in no demands. Greedy doesn't pay😝
No demand to go to China. No one is going going to that dumpster
Prior to the pandemic it was so easy to book flights to Asian destinations from LAX on Chinese carriers for less than $800. Those days are long gone.
Seems like white countries caused political issue though especially with chinese airlines keep expanding in asian and african countries. But in the end international=anglo countries for typical global news purpose.
Customers prefer the shorter route
Singapore airlines was documentation probelm. They have resumed chengdu and chongqing
Please do NOT be misled by this channel out to smear China. Please read StraitsTimes dated Mar 22, 2024 for the real reason the flights were suspended. Yes, SIA has daily flights to Chengdu and THRICE WEEKLY flights to Chongqing.
For European airlines, just failed in the price competition
Because of external factors beyond their control, and chinese home market advantage
WHAT price competition?? How is ANY Western privately owned airlines going to win price competition against airlines owned by big dictatorial governments like China??
Well, price and Timetable will cause low willingness to fly with European and American Airlines even for European and American passengers.
My experience: in January price of Taiwanese airline direct to Taiwan from Australia is 2,400 AUD but fly with Chinese airlines via China only cost 600 AUD
Chinese airlines have lowest price and more flexible schedule.
The European airlines that cannot fly through Rusia airspace, will have much longer flight, need more fuel, more dangerous, and more expensive tickets.
Chinese airlines can fly through Rusia airspace which definitely save travel time, save fuel, safer, and can sell much less expensive tickets.
Check Finnair polar route to Tokyo))) it's 4 hours longer))))))
@@freeloader247but they erase swastikas from their aircrafts didn't they?
If you can’t win them, ban them.
Because they can't fly through Russia, making other airlines more competitive than theirs.
Is not Russia. It's the western government banning their own airliner to fly over russia
Il save you 3.5mins.....they cant fly over russia. Enjoy your day
That's only part of the story. Avoiding Russian airspace doesn't explain why Qantas and Singapore Airlines reduced or cut their flights to China...
@@SimpleFlyingNewsTo compare the China airlines ticket price with others, you may understand something more.
Remember, Russia did ban any countries from using their airspace, it the western governments that decided not to fly over russia
@@SimpleFlyingNews another reason is chinese tourists prefer travelling domestically after the pandemic, in 2019, 180 million chinese tourists travelled outside of China, in 2023 alone, 260 million visited Xinjiang
@@SimpleFlyingNews customer will choose one among multiple airlines and stay with their choice even in next flights. If they take the chinese airlines, then less customers with Qantas or Singapore's.
Just like the auto industry in China, most legacy makers are losing market share so fast that they will go bankrupt in the next few years. Most Chinese now prefer to buy Chinese cars/evs than foreign brands. The same can be said about the airline industry.
This is where the stupidity of their politicians come to bite them.
This is called shooting on your own foot.😂
Chinese airlines will start to grow, now. Chinese airlines will also be cheaper than western airlines.
also ba even downsized the aircraft on lhr-hkg. It is now 772 or 789 when it used to be A388 at one point in time

China's local market is already very HUGE, the effect will be minimal. There will always be other airlines that will replace those who left. If anyone needs to go China, they will find ways and means, no?
well chinese airlines still fly to most destinations in Australia and they are adding capacity. so mean demand is there msot westerners are now even taking chinese airlines due to lack of other options
International airlines must blame their own government and politicians, nothing else
Well, that was 3:26 of nothing.
How about the reason for SQ?
And qantas?
Same reason, direct subsidy.
@@derekpacific Qantas uses the older A330 on Shanghai route, just can't compete with China Eastern which flies the newer A350 and has cheaper fares
Commenters seem to be noting that Chinese airlines could be having their routes also highly subsidized in addition to airspace issues. If true, the video really should mention it.
@@fandyllic1975 According to South China morning Post's article on June 4th 2024. Regional carrier Joy Air has filed three lawsuits since the start of the year against three local governments, with two concerning overdue subsidies.
YiCai Global's article in February 3rd 2023 reported that the city of Xiamen plans another round of subsidies to help spur the recovery in overseas air travel.
These are just small example.
If customers were choosing EU carriers and eating the additional cost to go to the PRC, does this implicitly mean the customer experience on EU carriers was preferred?
Ano stop distorting the truth, ain’t nobody chyna
This is not bad for Chinese airlines, but may not good for travelers.
Some Chinese carriers like Cathay Pacific Can fly over Russian airspace unlike western carriers.
I think it only happens on certain routes like JFK, YYZ, BOS, ORD to HKG. It can only happen in one direction. The plane will avoid Russian airspace in the opposite direction. Typically Cathay Pacific flights will also avoid Russian airspace when flying to Europe.

Delta flys from Seattle to Shanghai Daily
Your explanation doesn't tell us why Qantas and Singapore are cutting their flights
Because they are US's bros
@@PublicPost-jq1qk puppy you mean ...
The real reason is that Chinese airlines are using their excess capacities of wide-body jets to open up lots of new European and Australian destinations. This surplus results from the low recovery rate of the once lucrative China-US flights. (~30% of pre-pandemic level). Consequently, they only care about keeping their aircrafts in the sky, less so the profitability. Therefore, they can offer far more competitive fares than their European counterparts, driving them out of the Chinese market.
the sanction backfire to their face.
Western Airlines can no longer to compete haha
Your report is inaccurate. I just came back from China and airports and carriers are packed,
though the self-imposed gaps you mention, along with higher jet fuel costs, are filled by Chinese carriers, Emirates & Co.
It's not inaccurate just EU-centric, like EU is the centre of the world like XIX century
Obviously can’t compete…..no great loss
What about Singapore Airlines? There are many Chinese Malaysians living in Singapore which require travel demand, they don't need the Russian airspace and there aren't political tensions between the two sides comparing to Japan and American allies, etc.
Thanks for global geopolitic....division and isolation will drive us away....think about cold war, this tine is much worse that last time...
AMS-PKX flights with CZ are the cheapest long haul flights Ive seen! Incredible price difference to Western carriers
Qantas never had Sydney to Beijing since the pandemic, it was syd to Shanghai suspended.
3hours+transfer+13hours flight costs 750 pounds versus 9.5 hours direct flight with 400 pounds, which one do you choose?
There is no Russian airspace from Singapore and Australia
still Chiese carriers offer lower price
It’s not about airspace closure it’s that Russia has banned western airlines and their allied country of origin in the ban
Yeah, and that is closed airspace!
@@johnhaan986 closed means it is prohibited to all.
It's was nato first that ban all flight to russia
Wrong, it's the western sanction that prevents flying over russia. Russia did not ban any countries from flying over russia
Low demand is just bsnarrative. Demand is higher than ever
Sort of similar reason why only Chinese fleets can cross the Hormutz safely these days, right?
Qantas charges 3 times what China Eastern charges for the Sydney-Shanghai route. No wonder Qantas stopped.
When I first saw the video, I thought it was sanctions
Well, Chinese Airlines: 550€
Lufthansa: 1000€
Well. Enjoy your sanctions. Why do you complain?
Good move just make sure you don't crawl back
Why don’t European airlines fly over the Atlantic and the pacific? Then they would avoid the whole Russian airspace thing
still further, also more risk of flying over water, hard to secure safe landing if encountering problems
This does not make economical sense😂
Weak travel demand is precedent. Why would anyone want to visit there for leisure?
China got 35 million foreign tourists in 2023 and 65 million in 2019. Lots of people travel to China for leisure.
SQ was not able to receive timely approvals/renewals for airport slots. Red Tape with Chinese Airport Authorities and with the Chinese Aviation Govt Agency.
I've been trying to book Europe to Far East flights for days and all available cheaper flights were on Chinese carrier. Not wanting to fly Chinese carriers, I chose to book longer flights through the Middle East. This video explains why western airlines cost so much mora than Chinese airlines.
Chinese airlines are fine. 40% cheaper on average, faster and honestly similar level of service or better than most European airlines. And far better than stopping over in Dubai or Anu Dhabi in the middle of the night
Why Qantas?
The air routes over the Arabian Gulf are already too busy. If there is another war involving Iran, European airlines will cancel almost all flights to Asia.🙁
Thankfully United has slowly reduced the fare for its nonstop from SF to Shanghai and I am back on my way there and happy to return to enjoy life there.
How about Chinese carriers from China to these regions?
how about Qantas and SA? their routes to China don’t need Russian airspace
Oh no, it's gonna cost so much more to fly there for business
Western airlines raised white flags and threw in white towels.
Should just cancel the routes.
Simple- Can't fly through Russia except Chinese and Indian Airlines.
Because they cannot compete with Chinese airlines...
Making things cheaper and affordable is sinful. People just love to be slaves and they dont want to be freed.
weak travel demand?!
Only do Chinese airlines fly over Russian airspace. It means less time and less money for passengers and competitiveness for chinese carriers.
should ban all flights transiting Russia from landing in Western airports
If our legislators seriously know how geographically large Russia is… 😂
Alot more Chinese tourists want to go to Europe compared to Europeans wanting to go to China.

Chinese airlines can use russian airspace so they are raking it. Less travel time for passengers.
is it really the russian airspace closure and the detour that increases the cost? Because IIRC russia charged exobitantly high fee for the priviledge of overflying their airspace so much so that perhaps detour won't add significant cost if any
Chinese airlines are flying over Russia. So is Air India on the way to destinations in Europe.
Also I notice that airlines of many countries, even the USA, are now flying over Afghanistan. Presumably they are paying fees to the government there, that in most cases their own countries' governments do not recognise.
because most western airlines are not competitive. just cannot compete with asians
I flew Shanghai to Frankfurt return recently with China Eastern over Mongolia 🇲🇳 & Russia--smooth trip !
So many propaganda against China
no business, simple.
All these airlines have not reduced flights to Japan, Taiwan, Korea or other destinations despite having to avoid Russian airspace. That tells me that the main reason is reduced passenger interest in China.
Before the pandemic, China used to offer highly subsidized vacation packages to China, but since the pandemic, despite similar offers being available earlier on, there was little interest. Now it's pretty much dried up.
Chinese airlines will get more passengers because they can carry Chinese passengers to destinations around the world.
Security law
Travellers prefeer cheaper air line so SIA and Quantas lose the market share to China .
This is one example of sanctions having no impact on economy. On the other hand it improvs for some countries. Western shortsightedness is hilarious.
