@@myaccount__7269 It's a bad appeal though. It's the same as Lucas thinking children need children in films to relate. Children don't relate to other children in films. They relate to Luke, Leia, Mando, etc. No teenagers in 2022 are going to be awed my out-of-place 1950's aesthetics.

I agree, the mod gang was awful and the chase scene with the mayors spokesman was the worst scene so far in all of the new series since the Mandalorian came out. My 12 year old daughter made fun of it and actually asked "why do those stupid people need so many mirrors?"

I liked Cad Bane in the show, but I had 2 problems
1.) Remove him from the show and nothing changes. Most events would play out nearly the same

My theory is this: We know Bane is rich rich, with all the bounties he has collected. I bet that the beeping sound was an insurance measure, and that it instantly placed a bounty on Boba fett with all of Cade’s net worth. Now, Boba will be tormented by the very thing he once was. He was the hunter now he will be the hunted. Boba would feel guilty, etc due to his realization how hell it is to be on the receiving end. I bet Bossk and Dengar will pick up on the bounty as there seems to be less high level bounties being offered post-empire.

I just rewatched the scene and I don't hear any beeping? As Boba steps off of Cad after impaling him, turns and starts to walk away there's a rhythmic ticking, almost like a metronome sound effect being played over the music, but I just interpreted that as something symbolic. Boba had been advised multiple times while facing Cad down earlier on to not let his emotions govern his response and to make the right play. I just took the metronome-esque ticking to be a sign of Boba's composure when it was needed and therefore growth of his character. He had all but resigned himself that it was all over and he was done for, but he centered himself, remembered the teachings of the tuskens and used a different, methodical newly learned form of close quarters combat to regain the upper hand at the last moment. I could be completely wrong on this, I just took the situation and sound effects used to be conveying a pivotal movement of character development. That said, like most I do hope there's more for Cad in live action, would be a waste to only have a brief appearance ✌🏻

I love Dave and Jon, and their work, but BoB was too tropey for me all around. It was hard to feel like the stakes were high when nobody ever died despite all odds. Cad got 4 minutes of screen time, Boba talked too much for a stoic type, his arc happened so quick (and through flashbacks) that it was just disorienting seeing him be all honorable and stuff. The Boba/Bane stuff relied on viewers not only watching the CW tv show, but also unreleased scenes from cut seasons, which is stupid, and I say that as someone who has seen them. They should have started the show with a younger adult Boba and Bane to help set the stage for the rushed ending we got. I love Luke, Grogu, Mando, etc., but it was like they were stuffing half of an Avengers Film into a single superhero movie (or the star wars equivalent).

Now you have Mando and grogu immediately going off to do whatever it is they're doing, presumably running into trouble with the dark Saber and Bo Katan. This season is gonna be nuts. I loved the way he drifted in off the desert to Freetown. As soon as I saw the hat and coat I got chills. I knew who he was, i knew how dangerous he is, I knew what was going to ensue and I sat attentively staring at the screen and the sheer tensioned artistic way it was handled. The contrast between Cad being this larger than life hardened killer and the confrontatuonal deputy was night and day. You knew the deputy was going to do something stupid, you knew Vanth was now incredibly anxious as the deputy had no idea the scale of his error. This scene, this incredible moment of suspense would not have been the same if Cad was introduced earlier. I do like the idea of it being Cad who killed the Tuskens, but also idk if thats something you could hire someone of his caliber to do. Tuskens are regarded as savages and Cad specifically is comparable to a big game hunter targeting Jedi throughout his career where many other bounty hunters wouldn't even dare go against a force chosen. Cad was prepared for everything except a primitive attack from a feigning Fett. I think the whole thing was well done my real only complaint was how vibrantly blue his wrist devices were. Short of that I thought he did fantastic.

Can appreciate your take on this, I see it two different ways. What we got was amazing, we’ve seen Boba’s evolving journey, I’m sure there is more to come. Season 2 of Daredevil had the interplay of philosophies between him and The Punisher. It might have been cool to get something like that between Cad & Boba, agreed. Though he drifted in on the wind perfectly, sent his hired gun message strongly. It really had that Old Western movie lore behind it, very Lee Van Cleef like, Cad was based on him. Imagine Cad survives, though Boba can still be haunted by his unlikely death. Ultimately the discourse between Boba & Din over each of their shifting beliefs would be a great part of season 2…we can hope. Still loved the finale, the return of Grogu and the Rancor ride of Boba Fett were astounding.

The live-action portrayal of Cad Bane reminded me a lot of Clint Eastwood. Watching Eastwood movies, you see a gruff 'cowboy' age and I felt the same way watching Cad Bane between The Clone Wars and The Book of Boba Fett.
I thought it was somewhat out of character for him to fall to the Game of Thrones Oberyn Martell death (overconfidence or whatnot + a speech leading to death) but, as mentioned, he's very old and hasn't faced many people who had a chance against him so perhaps it was more characteristic than I thought.
I wasn't upset about Cad Bane's depiction at all. I agree that I would have loved to see more Cad Bane in live-action.

They really needed to have a scene or two to establish his rivalry/mentor relationship with Boba. Imagine this:
    1) Boba realizes he's growing old after losing to a blind Han Solo and Luke
    2) Boba has a change of heart on adopting a bunch of kids. You can use the street gang if you want. He realizes he is older than Jango ever was. And now he has the daddy responsibilities that come with it.
    3) have a flashback of Jango training Cad, and then Cad trying to teach Boba after Jango's death establishing their relationship
    4) flash forward to the last time Boba got "defeated", with the shootout cut from TCW.
    5) Have Cad now reappear with the Pykes for negotiations. Now we have context and backstory in BoBF without having to watch TCW.
    6) have Cad develop Boba one last time with that battle of ideologies. Battle of Mos Espa is really about Cad trying to make Boba a wanton killer, but Boba outsmarts him eventually with help from allies. In contrast to Cad who gets dragged down by his allies and ideology on brutal self preservation first.

I loved how he was used, but he really needed to be introduced much earlier as the familiar antagonist serving as the face of the much larger Pyke threat. I also agree that they should've leaned harder on Boba's development. The finale was mostly really cool, but it still falls a bit flat because I think the first three episodes were really mishandled. They really should've handled flashbacks right away in the first episode, catching up to Boba sitting on the throne by the end so we can just get going with the story. Next, and arguably most importantly, they needed to clearly establish Boba's goals and motivations from the get-go and make him more proactive with more agency, because what we got for the first threee episodes in the present was Boba being uncharacteristically passive and reactive, when he should've been the one driving the plot. Great, keep Din Djarin. I loved that stuff, but his story also needed to be better interwoven with Boba's so we didn't have two whole episodes in an already short miniseries without the main character in a show with his own name in the title after the majority of his episodes involved him basically spinning his wheels most of the time.

I had an idea for the series. Keep the into with the tuskans and keep bobba’s goal to be a kingpin. But I think that Bane should have been the catalyst to test if boba’s character changes. Bane would bait him by spreading rumors that Mace is alive and try to get Boba to lose focus on being a good ruler. Boba would use his family ties to the tuscans to let go of his father and not let his selfish desire for revenge overtake him.

You know what would've solved everyone's grievances with Boba being too soft?
In an end credits scene, we cut to night time when the Pikes and Crimebosses were in hiding within a safehouse, waiting for a transport to pick them up.
As they head to one that lands, the shuttle bay doors open up and out comes Kryzanthan blasting their guards apart. From behind, Fennec is in position behind a dune, picking off the rear guards one by one.
The leaders surrender and Boba steps out of the ship and faces them as all of them except the Pike plead for their lives. Boba waits for it to take effect and finally tells them that he's no longer the bloodthirsty killer he once was and that he won't kill them. The leaders sigh in relief, but the Pike knows otherwise.
Boba continues, saying that in this case, he'll make an exception because they hurt HIS family.
Just then, a Rancor roars in the distance. It's footsteps shake the ground harder and harder as it approaches. And when it does, it snatches the Pike in one swift montion and tears him apart (off-screen)
The others run in fear, but Mok Shiaz tries to pull a blaster on Boba, only to be shot down by Fennec's superior aim.
Mok, defenseless, tries to scramble to no avail as he trips and falls. The Rancor catches his eye on Mok and Boba commands it to smash apart Mok with its fist instead.
When Mok gets crushed, the episode cuts to black as the first lands on Mok's poor soul.

I agree I wish he was introduced sooner, honestly, my complaint is less that, and more so that the 7 episode season feels like a course correction gone wrong. I remember a couple years ago people talking about how the 21 episode season is just to long, so the soliciting Disney plus seems to be running with us like single digit seasons, and it’s great for something’s sure but honestly every major project under the single digit season model has felt oddly paced. Not that I don’t think it can work or it’s wrong, just that the current way they’re telling stories has a super steep cliff around the last 2 episodes where it feels like the bulk of the season moves a little slow, then everything happens, and like... that could work in some settings, but for characters like boba, Loki, Hawkeye you want that longer story, and not only that but it feels like for the sake of brevity these shows seem to be taking the expected option for many plot threads, like your initial passing thought about the show and how it will probably end if they follow convention... that’s probably right. So I won’t say I’m unhappy with any of the Disney plus stuff, I just want them to genuinely surprise me as well as tell a good story

TBOBF had a huge issue with its overall direction and I think giving the show a villain from the start (or like maybe from episode 3) would have really helped give clarity to that. Also I feel like his introduction punishes the audience if they haven’t watched TCW, here’s this super menacing dude and they wait for half of the episode to go by before even mentioning his name, Boba saying “I’m not a little boy anymore” would have felt completely out of left field.
