I know that there are street legal methanol burning engines in the United States. Can these engines also be modified to run on methanol ? If methanol burning is indeed possible, how difficult will it be to raise the compression ratio of these engines, to take advantage of methanol's higher octane rating ?
This is a diesel engine, running on natural gas. It already has a high compression ratio being a diesel. However I don't see any practical reason to run an engine this size on methanol, it'd burn thousands of gallons an hour at full throttle.
@@wartsilacorp how are these normally operated - start on CNG revaporized and then when at temperature shift to *FO and is that a flash cut or does the mix changed over a period of many seconds/minutes ? Thanks.
wow excellent. Save on fuel, while protecting the environment...you don't see that everyday!
Can we use these fuel instead of diesel , the engine is of the same kind
Yes, this is a Dual-Fuel engine which can use both diesel and LNG as fuel sources.
If the funnel open to sky vertically , duruning running how to prevent water ingress

Methanol are very dangerous for crew due to its poison.
Last I checked you would still need a catalytic converter and particulate filter to make it be a Continuous running engine
Great !! 10 years ahead !! Future is reality!!
What is the V angle on the 46F and 46DF?
Great minds contributed for a cleaner Mother Earth.
Is that hot or cold start?
For sure a hot start.
What is it "cold" start?
@@ГеоргийПетренко-й3тcold state means that all the fluids and materials have ambient temperature at the beginning of the start
The titanic 2 will have that kind of engine
Bet you can't do that on HFO
For that, we have scrubbers! ua-cam.com/video/E5Zi-6vd5ko/v-deo.html
