    It's funny how a song totally creeps under the skin, makes a heart miss a beat, enlightens the soul, makes thoughts wander .....

    Shame such a beautiful set of Islands is stained by out-dated and reviled traditions of whale slaughter. I would love to visit the Faroes with my family but not until the slaughter is ended.
    Traditional, you say, but not using traditional boats or communications. Not eating the whale meat because it is poisoned by mercury compounds, not needing the food source due to the affluence of the islanders.
    Post your beautiful music BT know that people will not choose to visit your islands while you continue this practice.
    Regards.

      @jonarthritiskwanhc 10 років тому +10

      You got all the facts wrong, lady. Their traditional ways, means that they still use the traditional ways to divide free meat to the whole community that is similar to the Inuit whaling. That's what make the hunt traditional compared to commercial whaling. If you want them to revert to the "old ways", then you're supporting cruelty because the "old ways" caused a lot of suffering to the whales before they die!
      Secondly, a Gallup survey from 2013(?) found that only just a SMALL PERCENTAGE of the respondents said they gave up eating whale meat or have never eaten whale meat at all. And the Faroese DO acknowledge the mercury issue (which was since 1997) but that doesn't stop them eating the meat, they just become more cautious on how much whale meat they eat and have mercury checks regularly.
      Lastly, "the affluence of the islands"?! Do you know how expensive is the Faroe Islands since most of their food is imported?? And do you know the Faroe Islands was one the poorest places in Europe until 1970s, which most people considered imported fruits or imported meat (like beef) as luxury products??
      Even they got rich after the 1970s due the rise of their fishing industry, many Faroese still regard whale meat as important food. On the one hand, Faroese eat whale meat as one of their reliefs for the expensive imported food. On the other hand, the Faroese had experienced how whale meat helped them to survive in the financial crisis. This was especially true in the economic crisis back in 1990s, Faroese survived the crisis by trading their own goods freely, along with heavy relying on free food resources like potatoes, sheep and of course, including PILOT WHALES!

      This is the wrong forum to post this. You are politicizing Teitur's beautiful music and Out In The North's channel, which I find very annoying. I don't know their stance on whale fishing, but assuming that they support the practice is at best unfair.

      Zoe Nosworthy we do noth need youer wissit ther are so menny other ther come and love every thing noth judging like you and selfish

    • @zoenosworthy5051
      @zoenosworthy5051 9 років тому

      Don't think you understand what selfish means Don't remember you selling tickets to visitors to watch you wade in blood and slaughter screaming, terrified pilot Wales! Many people do not realise that a minority of Faroese like to immerse themselves in bloodies waters as they systematically kill these creatures, supposedly for food!
      You don't use traditional methods, you don't need the food. You presumably just enjoy the blood lust and claim tradition as your justification.
      Faroes Isles look beautiful, would love to visit but would not want to meet or accidently stay in the hotels run by such people.
