Played this so much in the early 70s with my buddies from Philly. We played 5 minute games and kept league standings. Awesome memories. Thanks for posting. You made my day.
Charlie Romeo Thank you for watching, we are glad you enjoyed the video! Extremely cool that you had a league back in the day. We’re trying to create a league here in Grand Rapids, Michigan for the young kids and future of table hockey! Hopefully we can post more videos like this as our league grows :)
Wow, I totally forgot that I had a hockey-table like this as a kid...Have not thought about it for many years...Last time I saw it was in the 90s. Don't know what happened to the table. Found your video randomly. This brings back some great memories. And I instantly remember how to play it! Thanks.
I had one of these in JAMAICA during the 80s (gift from my Canadian relatives). Toronto Maple Leafs vs Calgary Flames. Loved that game. I need to buy one to challenge my sons.
I seriously think these games were the best hands on games ever invented. My brothers and I LIVED on ours for years growing up in Buffalo. The memories.
I feel like i didn't know bubble hockey existed until i saw it at an arcade recently, and it immediately shot to the top of my list for favorite games. Looks like a pretty sturdy little table there, I'm gonna have to get one
I was born in 1968 I remember those metal flat guys , my first game had them ,I think My teams were N.Y. Rangers against Boston. It was long ago.Halleluyah.
We bought a Stiga rod hockey game 2 years ago and just opened today. Unfortunately, the game was missing the plexiglass and the four legs to elevate the game off the table. Very sad. Can we plat the game without the plexiglass? What about the legs? Does anyone know where I can get these parts for a reasonable price?
GRSC I've read where this STIGA table hockey game is very fragile and that it breaks easily, ... ls it true? Because l am interested in purchasing one.
After face-off, at least 3 seconds must pass and some other player than the center has to have possession of the puck before a valid goal can be scored.
Usually when you reach high level the game is so fast that you do everything by pure reflex, including saying "nice goal". You simply do not have enough time to think of anything else to say because you can't drop concentration for even a split second. There are some people though who are able to talk like crazy during games but they are few. I prefer shutting the social part of my brain off while playing and by reflex just say "nice goal" or "lucky shot" if I score one myself.
STIGA is a Swedish company named after the fiunder. Stiga Hjelmquist. They make everything from sports equipment and toys to lawn mowers and guarden equipment.
I absolutely loved this game as a kid but I couldn't get ANYONE to play with me. I would beat someone 1 time and they refused to play me again ever... The kids I knew had absolutely no sense of competition or fun. Even my 2 brothers were as lame as could be. So frustrating.
You could but with good technique two hands is all you need. Since the rods are pretty close to each other on these STIGA's you could control up to 4 rods at once with your own hands. I do it, but I seldom see other people use more than two rods at once. Feels like I'm always playing powerplay because it really benefits winning lose pucks and makes my passes difficult for opponent to read.
I would have crushed these guys back in the 1980s! Their goalies are out of position much of the time! And their cross ice passes aren’t consistently producing shots on goal.

I had mine back in 1972, was really good at.
Mine had the "flat" players, not the cool 3 dimensional players of today.

Paul Shabi went on to finish 3rd overall in this tournament, claiming the bronze medal over Kevin Rafferty, while Carlson finished 14th out 24.

Nope. These games are built to last a long time. And if something does break, it can be replaced. Replacement parts for basically everything on there.
@@josephkunst3381 Thanks
I have stiga hockey and over 30 years it still playable.
I wish me and my father could've entered one of these tournaments. I could've hung with these guys easy when I was 10

Just found a Stanley cup table at goodwill for 24 bucks and been playing the crap out of it!!! So fun
That's awesome! Glad you're enjoying it!
Are these plastic players sturdy or do they break? We had the metal flat players back in the day, I'm wondering if they were better.
Excellent video work here!

After a goal , why do you guys drop the puck in so quickly and without time to set up???
How many people looked for this by regular show? XD
Where can I find a table like this
Amazon is an easy way to go! Search for Stiga table hockey and you should find what you're looking for

At 7:52 , why didn't that goal count ? Just curious.

@@finnishtablehockeyassociat6060 Thank you for answering.
Interesting rule. We used to score right from the faceoff when I was a kid. I get why, though. @@finnishtablehockeyassociat6060
Why is the white goalie always facing backwards?
So is there never not a "nice goal" or is this just an automatic saying everytime someone scores?

can anyone recommend a quality table? the the stiga on amazon has mixed reviews, as in cheaply made. i could go the vintage route on ebay
Vintages are high quality, i've had mine since 1993 and i've only had to make a few small reparations, nothing big.
@@arvid5055 just got an 80's model. heard they were better quality than today's. did those reparations you mentioned involve 40 acres and a mule?
