    Yep, that was a friendship or something gone wrong. I love the "if karma won't hit you, then I will". They have said that they get all of their aggression out in their songs. There was one live chat when their manager asked Pau if she couldn't write something light and happy and she said "No". Hard stop, no discussion, no diplomacy, just 'No'.

    There is a saying that when one brings light the ones own inner dark thoughts and feelings the will not be such a heavy burden. Expressing these thoughts and feelings in a creative non-destructive manner is quite healthy. Not everyone sees the world in rose coloured glasses. If they do they are lying to themselves.

    Great reaction! Yes, nearly all of The Warning's songs deal with dark matters, and there's a very good reason behind it. Pau has said on several occasions that she hates writing happy songs. She says they sound too cheesy when she writes them, and that she prefers to write music in a minor key instead of a major key.
    The other reason she gives is that by writing dark material they can use their music as a vessel for expelling all the bad feelings from their souls, leaving all their happy thoughts inside. I personally find that really touching and wholesome.

    You’re correct, they are well adjusted young ladies…with very vivid imaginations. They’ve been writing and performing far beyond their years since their inception. If they wanted to become just another cookie cutter pop band they would have sold their souls to Disney when given the opportunity.

    I love that they write darker lyrically. It’s refreshing for three young women, kids and teens really in most of their music up to this point, to write original, real rock, and not cheerful bubble gum pop. I can’t get enough of this Mayday EP and can’t wait to hear what they give us in the future.

    From a fellow Texan, I have been following this band since 2014 when their version of "Enter Sandman" hit the UA-cam. It has been great to see them develope into the band they are today. I had tickets to their show at Club Dada in Dallas, but alas that got cancelled for COVID. Check out some of their earlier songs on UA-cam. As you will find out, yes, most of their songs have a "Dark" side, but they are in person really happy people that develope most of their material from reading books or events in the local papers (Copper Bullets). Have fun listening!

    They all write their songs and lyrics. It depends on the song who writes the most, but usually Pau writes pieces of songs on piano then brings it to her sisters to all work on. Their manager, Rudy, once asked Pau if she could write happy songs about rainbows and unicorns. Her answer, "No". LOL

    I am like you a slow burn on my favorite bands..... but this song hit me in one shot, bang boom a hit. As you have noticed they are super cool and normal family girls private but as you can note from their songs, the lyrics are not just whimsed together for the fun of it... they say that typically Pau starts with a melody clip, a chorus or equal and some words or a sentence and then they write the song together where they focus as much on the lyrics as the music to make it match. Go in on The Warning Army UA-cam site and you’ll find short clips of them describing their latest songs

    I really love the energy this one has, Ale's bass is making an exceptional sound these days, I love that too. I put this one right next to "Z", but just under "Evolve & Disciple". As usual, Pau working the drums like nobody's business, Dany's vocals are on point as always.

  • @DaveRod76
    @DaveRod76 2 роки тому +15

    Also, their mother asked them when they were younger how come they don’t write songs about rainbows and unicorns, or something of that nature, but, can you imagine if they had recorded grammar school songs, they would not have the international fan base they do now.

    • @robertkrawitz8237
      @robertkrawitz8237 2 роки тому +7

      Just imagine what might have happened (or not) had they taken their mother's suggestion about what to name the band...
      Does anyone know where the name (The Warning) actually comes from? The story I recall hearing was that when they were playing Rock Band they were playing at being rock stars who were recording their next album which was to be titled The Warning, and then when they needed a name for their (real) band one of them remembered it, and that's what they used. Is that actually what happened, and if so, do any of them remember how they came up with that? Regardless, The Warning a great name for a hard rock band, and the "you have been warned!" tag line has enough menace that the hardest core headbanger can respect it without being so over the top that it scares people away.
      They have not been averse to saying no to their parents where it comes to artistic decisions. I think one of the few times where Luis made it stick was when he pushed them to finish Ugh rather than abandon it, and that wasn't artistic, it was they were simply frustrated at hitting a block. They don't generally appear to mind being pushed to excel.

    Enjoyed your review. Several have already mentioned its origin; as you're now exploring their vlogs, etc., you might come across the one Pau spoke about this song specifically - and her definite hatred of 'love' songs (unless they're twisted, a la Queen of - or it's about her cat :)). Usually find them on their site, and/or The Warning Army. Personally, I wish they'd write an instrumental - even if they only played it live (like Band-Maid with "Onset"). Even more so after hearing "Z"; it's awesome!

    The bass is a little different and punchy because this is the first song Ale recoded using a pick. She has used a pick previously playing Resistance by Muse but she is mainly a finger style bass player. Animosity is one that grows on you. I was kinda meh with it at first but after a bunch of listens later it's one of my favourites from the the EP.
