  • Tom Yankello of the @WorldClassBoxingChannel gives you a demonstration on hand positioning for your rear hand when throwing a jab. Tom goes over two different jabs and where the correct position of your rear hand needs to be. Tom reviews the old school hand positioning of all the all time greats that had their right hand in front of their chin and have one eye down the barrel of the gun with the traditional jab. For the second jab, the up jab, you position your rear hand on the side of your face. Tom goes into detail to explain how this hand positioning gives you inches of an advantage. Boxing is a game of inches. Then Tom shows you how a boxer can practice this on the heavy bag. Tom ends the video with a bonus teaching you how to throw the over under jab on the heavy bag.

Love these insights from the old school style, especially James Toney/Bill Miller school of thought, which isn't as well known as Kronk/Steward.

This dude definitely knows his shit. The only thing that's the opposite of what my trainer teacher is tuck the chin into the same shoulder that's firing. But otherwise he trains EXACTLY the same as this dude so I'm bloody lucky

Seems as if you are semi telegraphing the jab when you duck to the left side. Only time I’ve used that is when I switch to that jab rather than using the left hook. However I feel more comfortable using the up jab from just the low ready position. Or possibly the Bob Foster step fake first then jab. Yet thanks I’ll use that jab more often then. Thanks.
