JF only now in reflection do I understand the need for the inside leg to truly shorten to create natural separation. The key for me was understanding the real need to allow/engage the inside knee to pull the outside knee toward the center as far as possible to turn off inside leg muscles and allow the knee to easily move upward in the vertical plane.
