I only did one whittle last winter. It was your Hillbilly Gnome. A little tuff for a 71 year old to handle, but I did it! This winter I have done nine. All because I watch you. Four of those whittles were my ideas. The Fir tree I watched you and a couple of others. The C9 Christmas Bulbs (I carved 4) were in Woodcarving Illustrated. A gal from Istanbul. You have the best carving videos on UA-cam! Two others are tied for second lol. That is because you explain your thoughts to us as you are carving. Thanks for that and the time you take in making these videos for us. Happy New Year to you and your family! Take care!
You are making carving so accessible and fun! You can tell by how many positive comments you've gotten just hours after putting the video up. These little guys would look great with your fir tree whittle. Thank you for all the time and effort - and playfulness - you put into making your videos. They are changing lives in the sweetest way, by bringing pleasure and beauty into a world hungry for both.
Your hands are a wonderment.....no scars. Thoroughly enjoy all your videos, awesome job of teaching. Hope you and others are not hurt by the tariffs, not all of us support them, best wishes, Dan,
It's been 14 hours since you started this tutorial. I put off watching it because I was waiting for the moment where I could concentrate on your carving. Your voice is so relaxing. It's 2:30 AM December 31st and my mom's birthday is today. She's 94 years old! I ordered some 1x1s from Amazon so I could carve some of your 1x1s. Now, I just need to get my craving knife out and sharpen it.
It's always awesome to see that even those that are so much more experienced at something are still learning every day. Love it. Can't wait to give one of these a go.
I think these little guys are adorable, it is the posture that makes them so different and brings them to life. Thanks Doug and to your wife for her inspiration for them.
Just finished my little guy with the green sweater. So much fun and I love the idea of movement in the piece. Thank you so much for sharing and encouraging!
Doug, I have so much fun watching and trying to carve what you make. Can't say I'm as good but I have so much fun. Thank You for all the inspiration and great ideas. Happy New Year to you and yours.
These are delightful and fun little snowmen. Love the rogues gallery of past carvings in the background. So jealous. LOL. Keep the fun flowing in 2025 and a happy new year from Scotland. ⛄🏴
It looks like talent runs in the family, and those little paintings by the wife would make nice Christmas cards but that would be an expensive project, anyways thanks for your many videos over the years and were wishing your family a very happy New Year's and we will be awaiting the projects coming in 2025!
That's one of the things I appreciate about your work... you always give proper credit. Many UA-cam presenters selfishly or misleadingly take credit for something they didn't initiate. Thanks for another gr8 video lesson.
That's really a very cute snowman, Doug ⛄❤️ Want to say you thank you for your tutorials. You brought me to woodcarving some years ago and I still love it. All the best wishes for you and your family from Germany to Canada. Sven
I did 5 of them already. I love that they look up ,it's a nice change. I prepped the wood the same, but instead of cutting it in 2, I carved both using the stop cut in the middle, then I did the cut and it worked great! Thanks again!
It is always a pleasure to watch your videos, but I have particularly enjoyed so much this one. First, because it is super cute great easy to do little carve. Second, I love how you added some "movement" or "action" in it. Third, I enthusiastically encourage you to keep doing carvings with its hands on the back. I will try to carve your little gnomes, Hill Billys and regular little guys adding those features. They will look absolutely wonderful: some sort of movement and hands out of their pockets. They should look fan-tas-tic. In short: please keep doing such great videos. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
Sooooo Adorable! I gotta get in the groove this winter to carve.....I started a few things and never finished them, I only carve in winter when indoors.....I LOVE to carve but I am in a I don't know mood, getting mad myself for not picking up my knife and I still don't pick it up so I am Praying something will trigger my creativity again.....ADHD mode I reckon.....I find something that I want to learn and once I learn it, it is like I always want to move on to the next thing I wanna learn and I am hoping that carving is not one of the I DID IT modes and then stop and go to another thing.....Oh well I am rambling, Happy New Year 2025 to you and your family Doug and Keep on Keeping on, your videos are always a Treasure.....
Doug, OMG, I am a long time viewer and wanna be wood carver. I have carved only 2 things, one being the owl of yours. OMG, was that a HOOT to carve, seriously and it should have started my carving addiction but for the many slices I took out of my thumb due to having such a hard time keeping my knife sharp. LOL. Anywho, I am wanting to carve my 5 year old Nephew something for Valentine Day and hoped you would have a video coming with a Valentine Day carving in time for me to do it. Any plans on that? Hint Hint. Absolutely LOVE you and your wife and your videos! Thanks for all the enjoyment I have received by viewing them and your sense of humor! May God continue to bless you and yours. You guys are the best. Love from Montana, USA
Hello Mr. Doug Linker, thank you for the great tutorial. Interesting way to carve a snowman and as always very informative. I'm looking forward to the next videos and thank you for the clear instructions. Best Regards and a Happy New Year ;-)
Thanks Doug , Happy New Year. This is a perfect addition to your snowmen, love them all. p.s. I ordered and received two of the veritos rulers I treated myself for Xmas . One metric one imperial .
Thanks for another great 1x1 video! I got a chuckle at your faux pas regegarding the anatomy! So far, i have attempted the beaver, which was a bit tough for me. So i tried the bird which came out much better. I did a second bird and wow, what a difference by doing a back to back replica. The second time flowed much better. If i could put a request in, id like to see you do a happy donkey. I have a friend with donkeys and id like to do a donkey for her as a surprise.

Thanks Doug. Happy new year to you and your family. I have been also trying to get a bit of action in my carvings, I don’t fuss about symmetry as I feel we are not symmetrical ourselves. Especially when it comes to clothing. Love your videos 💕 cheers from Australia
Ok thanks doug will try that. You know you spoil us with the detail. I always admire your looks but always carve the one in the video. Gotta do more variations. Thanks for the input... walt

It looks like talent runs in the family, and those little paintings by the wife would make nice Christmas cards but that would be an expensive project, anyways thanks for your many videos over the years and were wishing your family a very happy New Year's and we will be awaiting the projects coming in 2025!
