Thank you very much for the video and review! I have decided to treat myself to this exact reel for my birthday in May! Thanks for the DETAILED review and demo of the reel. Very well done!! Thanks again man! Happy fishing!
Very nice and smooth and they don’t like saltwater to much be sure to put marine grease on the line roller bearing my grandson used mine at a pier and when he got home it had a little grind when turning so I cleaned it good with water and put marine grease like Aqua Shield or corrosion block on the line roller bearing and smooth again
I am a big fan and live a little further south on the coast. I would like to know if you have ever used google satellite map to show you where the holes and channels are? If you are not aware of this tip, I have found it very useful in determining what beach or stretch of river I am fishing.
Have you used power pro braid before? It any other type other than kastking? If you have is there any difference? Like durability wise or bleeding of color? Thank you and nice video
yes, I have used PP and spiderwire all the time before. but have switched to "spectra" braid line. I get them on amazon. they are half the price of PP/SW. same durability, I see no difference. as for color bleeding, they do fade a little bit - but I think that's common among all braid line, especially in salt water where salt water tends to be more corrosive than fresh.
Do you have a reason for preferring the "front drag"-style reels? I understand they are cheaper and simpler to manufacture and probably more durable, but I prefer having the drag knob on the bottom.
Most spinning reels are made like that, so I just got accustomed to it. I know the Shimano spirex has its drag at the rear, and I've used it before but felt a little weird setting the drag from the back.
That makes sense, I like it on the bottom because you don't put your hand in the way of the line or the bail, but it seems they are moving away from having the drag on the bottom.
I just got this delivered today and felt weirded out that for a $200 reel. It was not as smooth as i was expecting compared to my Daiwa Bg and has a slight grindy gear sound. Is that normal or am I just expecting too much from it?
@@Jakelol1980 i need 4lb for my blue current 2.44 0.5-5g rod which has a #pe of 0.2 everything above that just wont run through the guides very smooth.
PK Yi I wanted the extra line as well. All I do with this setup is for trolling Rainbows in a lake. The 8lbs. Tatsu with a light medium rod has been quite nice for one season so far! I didn't see the benefits to get 2500 over very small difference of weight. My bail does seem a little tight though.
In this video, I was using my old Cabela's tourney trail IM8 salmon rod. It's a 10 footer that can toss 2 oz weights. But it's discontinued though, which is too bad because it's such a great rod for surf fishing redtails. An alternative would be the Okuma Celilo salmon rod, 9'6" light action. It's the best alternative that I have found.
James McCarthy I live in Alaska and use a Stratic 3000 trolling for rainbows on lakes. I did use it for silvers however I would personally recommend the 4000 if you are fishing kings. If just for silvers and reds, I would get the 3000 because you can spool it for rainbows as well. Fish on man.
James McCarthy For sure! The great thing about the 3000 is the versatility of it. Just changing the line can be tedious. The Stratic line is the real deal though. Many of the Stella high end attributes without the extra 500 bucks out of the pocket. I use Tatsu line on it so I will keep it for that function. All reels I buy though RN are all the CI4 though.
Patrick Blomquist this is probably a stupid question lol but I'm from Ireland so will be fishing on the blackwater river so would you recommend the 4000 still? salmon I think average at around 8lbs to in the 20s.
James McCarthy No question is stupid. If exclusive for the those, the 4000 might be your best bet. 10lbs test and higher to the 4000 or 10lbs test or less for the 3000.
Honestly, I don't see a point in using a small sized 190gr light reel on a 10ft rod (balance must be shit???) and with 30lb braind, that will mess it up soon...
I have a 10’ lamiglass insane surf paired with a daiwa 2500 fresh water reel I use for buck tails and soft plastics up to 2 oz I’ve caught 15lb bluefish and I use 30 lb braid I get about 140 yards

I got this and the Daiwa Ballistic LT 3000. And using the new Super Slick v2 in Black looks sick.

Yes, I've used it before but only for a couple of times. It's a very good tip.
I have 4. Great reel. I have landed several big stripers.
Oh yeah and get the drag washers for it since they come with felts. And the super tune kit. You can get them both from eBay.
you got a link to one?

PK Yi have you ever fished for salmon? You live in Oregon and there are some awesome rivers near you
Is it possible to change a handle side in this roller? How many line goes into this reel ?? tnx
Great reel for Albacore and Bonito fishing...

My Stradic is pretty smooth. The grinding sound might be a bad model, I'd return it.
Hey PK I noticed this one doesn't have that hole where you can put oil in like the old ones. Do you know how one would oil this new stradic?
Yohan Kim for quick service it's enough to open left handle cap n pour some greas inside , right hand side , shaft, n oil the rest ie line roller etc.
30 pound braid going for perch
Yeah lol 15 or 20 is what i do

late spring or summer. let me know. you gotta use that reel, don't let it just catch dust
why did you get the 3000 vs the 2500? I made the same choice but will be buying another soon!
wanted the extra line capacity. the 3000 I mainly use for freshwater bass fishing. I use the 4000 for surf fishing

Stradic CI4+ Is’t okay to in salt water?
Yes, it needs to be rinsed after each trip with a light spray from the garden hose.
hey guys, I'll be fishing for salmon on freshwater so would the 3000 or 4000 be best? thanks.

Hi, I am considering this reel. How has it held up, and have you paired it with anything else? Thanks
I have 2 of the 1000 sizes for trout with 2 pound test and a 4000 for inshore
Nice. They are pretty awesome.
I wish the 3000 size didn't have the T style handle, I also think the Stradic FK is more robust than the Ci4 +s
would you recommend the 3000 or 4000 for throwing spinners for salmon?
