RSUST The Making of an e University

During Professor Barineme Beke Fakae's administration, an ICT Competency and Digital Lifestyle course was started. Because of its regular online platform activities, the institution has achieved the status of an e-university, the first in Nigeria. As an e-university, the institution leverages Information Communication and Technology (ICT) to transform knowledge into economic value, and this has become a central part of academic life. Additionally, it supports the teaching and learning of other curriculum subjects. With it, students are prepared for everyday use of technology as well as for the workplace.
As a result, Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) was the first university in Nigeria to create an e-Senate. In order to conduct meetings effectively, professors, deans, and heads of departments must only use laptops and iPads. To provide real-time e-classroom interaction between students and lecturers without the barriers of walls and spaces, a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is now being developed
