@@ryanbasel9986 some things I may not necessarily understand about the Catholic Church but how could anybody think the Catholic church is the devil's church that's ridiculous. The worst case I might say is that the Catholic church is sometimes stuck too much in tradition but at the same time I acknowledge that liturgical churches have one thing that many of us Protestant churches can learn from and that is we push so much that God is our friend that it's easier to forget that God is our Lord and King and we need to show reverence towards God and the liturgical churches are good about showing reverence. Therefore I want to understand even those areas that I may not agree with I still want to understand.

You know I've been watching these videos about the Catholic church and the one thing that boggles my mind is people like me do not necessarily think the Catholic church is bad but some of these people in these videos representing the Catholic Church I swear they do have the attitude that their churche is the only good church whereas I would say Catholics,Protestants, orthodox we're all the Church and it's just different ways of expressing the Christian faith as long as you got the true core really it should just be a matter of taste because we should work together because we all have things to teach each other. Now yes we are all humans and we may push a little heavier on one area than another.
such as Pentecostals might push really heavy on the power of the holy Spirit which we all should not only acknowledge but be cooperating with the holy Spirit but they might not necessarily put as much emphasis on reverence even though any Pentecostal here Will acknowledge that we need to show reverence to God. I'm a contemporary Christian and I confess that we may do a lot more emphasis on personal evangelism but again we're not necessarily going to put as much emphasis on reverence as Catholics do. I could be wrong here but I would imagine they definitely put a lot of emphasis on reverence to God but I would imagine many Catholic churches are likely a lot lighter evangelism. What I'm referring to is yes you believe in evangelism and you do have a lot of programs run by the church and done by the church but how much emphasis is there on one-on-one evangelism between a Catholic and a friend and/or family member who doesn't already know the Lord now I could be wrong excuse me if I'm wrong but we all have areas that we don't put as much emphasis on even though we agree that it is important and other areas we put a lot of emphasis on.

@@jonsumner1382 catholic here! And I must thank you for your understanding. All I can say is I wish the best for my protestant brothers and sisters. I've been to many protestant churches and I see a lot of beauty and charismatic energy in them. I'm also in a band at the moment and all my members are protestant but we all love each other like family. We can truly unite and we can definitely trust in God for greater plans. The mass is absolutely beautiful and as a Catholic I welcome you to join a mass one day (not forcing you). As a protestant I might not be invited to share in the holy communion at a mass in a Catholic church, but as brothers we will share at the same table when we eat together at the supper of the lamb in the coming kingdom. Technically, you are not. Orthodox Christianity does not permit its faithful to receive Holy Communion in non-Orthodox communities, whether they be Roman Catholic, Protestant, or whatever. Hence, while Roman Catholicism may extend Eucharistic hospitality to Orthodox Christians, it does not mean that Orthodox Christians are permitted to accept such hospitality. We literally do not believe in authority of the Pope and the great schisms of the past and conflict between churches of Rome and Constantinople also make our two churches diunified. To receive the Eucharist in a community to which one does not belong is improper; the Eucharist is the result of unity, not the means by which unity is achieved.

@@MikeSonowski-pg8bs we DO NOT WORSHIP MARY, we honor as the Queen of Heaven and Mother of Christ, Revelation 12 speaks about Mary as the Queen of Heaven.
Rev 12 is not referring to Mary nor is she queen of heaven , that is just a made up belief not found in scripture.
At the Wedding of Cana, the wine ran out and Mary asked Jesus if He could transform the water to wine.
You can not find anywhere in scripture that Mary asked Jesus to make new wine. read that verse again with your eyes open.
Jesus did not want to perform any miracles yet, but because His respect for Mary is so high, He obeys her and performs the miracle.
Well that sounds good but you will not find any reference in all of scripture where Jesus defers to His mother for anything.
That’s why we ask Mary to pray for us, like u would ask ur family or friends to pray for you.
We are to ask prayers of the living not the dead . Mary is dead and waiting for the resurrection just like all the saints in the new testament. Strange how you ask Mary to pray for you when Jesus and the apostles prayed to God and all the believers in the early church prayed to God . Heb 4:15-16 excludes Mary. John 14:6 also tells you that the Fatima apparition is false.
Because Jesus respects Mary a lot,
Of course Jesus respects His own mother but look at what He says to someone pointing at Mary His mother ; Luke 11: 27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and blessed are the breasts that nursed You!” 28 But He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”…
What the entire new testament is about is Jesus not His mother. The Catholic church points to Mary far too much when it is Jesus the catholic church should be pointing to.
Luke 1:28. Half the Hail Mary and the other half is manmade nonsense.

You need to reread those verses about being in the right frame of mind when taking the Lord's supper as you have accepted teaching that is wrong.
The Last Supper was a Passover/Seder meal. The Jews drink 4 cups of wine that is symbolic of the 4 “I will” promises of God in Exodus 6:6. Jesus skipped 1 cup of wine, the Cup of Redemption, identifying with that Cup & then repeated the words of Moses saying “This is the cup of the New Covenant in My blood...” thereby fulfilling the Old Covenant. So did the apostles that night with Jesus actually drink His blood? No...it was symbolic just as the 4 cups of wine are symbolic every Passover for the Jews to this day. Therefore the entire meal which fulfilled the Old Covenant in His body & blood is symbolic. We don’t actually eat His body.
I have a sneaky suspicion that you do not get 4 cups of wine either in the Eucharist. When Jesus died on the cross for all of your sins He died once. The Eucharist is a bloodless re-sacrifice for your sins and that is wrong.

It felt weird, because at the time I was fairly new to the Christian journey (and erm.. life) and unaware of some of the... shall we say... complex history of the Church in general. It was especially wierd because I was only there as part of a service to promote unity between the local Methodists, Catholics and Anglicans who had come together to run an outreach holiday club for the area. This wasn't in the USA either, but middle-of-nowhere UK. One day, I hope all denominations will be able to take bread and wine together. I pray it happens before Jesus gets back.

Eucharist is biblical and our church fathers do it too back from the apostolic age. It is one beautiful gift that Christ has given us. I myself would pretend to celebrate mass when the priest is praying Eucharistic prayer. I just think it's too beautiful, meaningful and the Presence of Christ is real. I love it being sung but not many priests can do that.
You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body + and Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. ................. (some prayers, then)
Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and Resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.

Jesus said, does this scandalize you.
Jesus said, I know it's a hard teaching but this will divide the true disciples from the false disciples.

True sweet story here: My granddaughter had a Jewish friend whom she met when their moms (one being my daughter, of course) all met at a small park close to our houses. The girls were each about 18 months old. They became good buddies, & still are in their 20ies. Anyway, one day my granddaughter stayed overnight at her friend’s house. They were about 5 years old then. I told my granddaughter when I left her off the night before, that I will pick her up for Mass the next morning.(we were Catholic). Sunday morning I went to pick up my granddaughter, & her friend said that she wanted to go to church, also. Her parents thought it would be a good idea for their daughter to see & learn about other religions. During Communion/Eucharist, I told the girls to wait until I go up for the Host. When I came back to the pew, our little Jewish friend, looked up at me with sad, startled, eyes, & asked me if I WAS ACTUALLY EATING FLESH & DRINKING BLOOD! I put my arms around her, hugged both girls, & told them that it was our belief, we believe in our hearts & souls that this is Jesus. I explained later the Host looks like a tiny flattened Matzo & the wine looks like grape juice, but our belief is that it is the body & blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I told our young Jewish friend, that Jesus was born J
a divine Jew. She was both surprised & delighted. I then took the happy God loving little girls out for lunch. Peace be with you! ✝️ Shalom! ✡️

The Bible teaches not to be unequally yoked so the only situation where this should occur is if the couples married before either was a Christian. With so much to do, l pray Jesus will guide your steps, keep you fed, spiritually as well as nutritionally, give you strength and perseverance to help in getting moved to your new home, at least for the foreseeable future. Lastly, I pray that God's will be done and that it be our will as well. In Jesus name.
    Amen.
I am an ELCA Lutheran, our rule for communion is (Not word for word) any baptized Christian that beleive in Jesus Christ is welcome to join in the meal.
I heard your explanation on why who is welcome and who is not, the LCMS in our town goes a step further and will not offer communion to non members of their church.
I was 32 years old when I was baptized on May 2, 2004. I felt immensely blessed to have celebrated my 15 year baptismal anniversary earlier this month. I only bring this up because I truly was a wretch before I believed in Jesus Christ. I thought Christians were weak minded fools. I used our Fathers name as a punchline or in vain daily if not hourly.
When my heart started to soften, I was full of questions. As I inched toward believing I was cautious, like I was going to get caught in a trap. It was like i was waiting for one little thing to confirm what I had suspected all along, that church was full of Bible thumping, holier than thou, stuck up, finger wagging fools just waiting to tell me why I wasn't good enough and would have my own private rocket to shoot me straight to he'll (which at the time, I really didn't know what he'll was, outside off a fire pit).
So my fiancee and my daughter and I started in the attending services. As we walked in the first time, I was relieved and a bit stunned that the church did not collapse on me. We live in a town of around 7 to 8 thousand people. So we knew a lot of people at church, mostly acquaintances, but there were a lot of smiles and hand shake and hugs.
I found that I really enjoyed going. Much of what was being said, I did not understand, how it worked. At the time, we had communion twice a month (it is now every Sunday and most special services during the week), although I wasn't able to partake in the bread and wine I always went forward for a blessing. To wrap it up, I am beyond blessed that Jesus continued to pursue me even though I said no and ran away for so long. I also feel very blessed that "one" thing didn't happen to drive me away.
I often wonder, for those folks who may be wanting to attend a service but feel like I did or maybe they are nervous. It's fair to say they don't know why this part of the service is excluding them. If we were having a meal in our fellowship hall after the service, they would be welcome to come eat as much as they wanted.
It is very scary to go to church thst first-time ever or first time in years because you fell away and now you are walking in to sit before God. God that created everything. God that flooded the world. God that stepped down from Heaven and was born a baby, grew an taught in the temple, started a ministry and in a few short years was nailed to a cross. He paid for my sins that day. He paid for your sins that day. He paid for the sins of all that day, for those who came before, for every life that has been a part of time, for those who believe and for those that use His name in vain or as a punchline, for those that don't believe and never will.
When you are brand new, trying to know God and all that happened and the meal is offered for everyone... except you.
On the night in which He was betrayed, Jesus took bread, raised it up, blessed it, broke it and gave it to His disciples saying "Take and eat. This is my body given for you, do this for the remembrance of me."
In the same way He raised the cup blessed it and gave to all to drink saying "Take and drink, this cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sins. Do this for the remembrance of me.
There were no if, ands or buts... it was His blood shed for all people.
As that new person that is not included could be a person that leaves and never steps foot in church ever again. Is it worth it?
This is way longer than it need to be, but I believe it is something that we should take a look at and see if it is the best way to go about it.
God bless you and enjoy this new era of your life.

How can you be sure of what doctrine an Anglican or Episcopalian believe? Quite difficult since there are many faiths within a church that considers itself a midway between Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant. To be part of this church you only have acknowledge thirty nine articles of faith. In the beginning there were75, then 67 and they came down to thirty nine nowadays and worse they are not binding anymore. There are parishes that are completely Catholic but not accepting the role of Peter (Pope) and some others are completely protestant accepting at the most two sacraments (i.e. Baptism and Holy Supper). Some accept the successor of bishops through the imposition of hands since the beginning of Christianism; the others take bishops as mere administrator of a diocese. They have no valid orders so no matter if a priest or a bishop believes in the Sacrifice of the Mass there is no consecration. Priests are not ordained validly. All in all, the Catholic Church cannot receive any Anglican for communion because there should be serious doubts of what he/she believes. It will be the same for the member of the Old Catholic Church. It is an excellent video as are all of yours. Thanks!

I could never miss receiving Jesus. My husband is not even Christian, having grown up in a muslim country, but attends mass and likes it. I hope one day , he will understand enough and desire to become baptized into the Catholic church.

It's kind of bad publicity for nonbelievers to be struck down in the middle of services. Oh, by the way, that mention by Paul, proves the Eucharist is in fact the real body of Christ, and the Holy Spirit does not take lightly those who ingest it with a sinful heart or cavalier attitude.

I am a protestant who has been attending mass at a Catholic church for about a year because I like the reverence of Catholic worship. No one there knows me and I know that could slip down and take communion and no one but God and I would be aware. I have faithfully respected Catholic teaching however out of respect and will continue to do so.
I would like to respectfully ask, though. If Christ could serve Judas Iscariot, whom he had just declared a traitor shouldn't that allow anyone to receive the elements, even in bad faith? I understand what you are saying about unity, but Judas was clearly not unified with the other apostles. Was that first meal less unifying for the other eleven?

He talks about not everyone can receive communion, yet he didn't mention going to confession so one can again receive communion. I'm old enough to remember pre-Vat 2. Then it was normal for about a third to remain in the pews during communion because we were taught confession before communion. Now everyone goes. Glad they're all saints but I doubt it. I think we lost the meaning of the Real Presence. Contributing to that is now we don't kneel receiving the Host as I remember doing pre-Vat2. Also, receiving in hand and feeding ourself diminishes the awe.

Pre Vatican 2 we had to fast from midnight before we could receive communion so that's an explanation of why there were diminishing numbers receiving the Body of Christ. I received my First Holy Communion at age 7, but was never taught I needed to go to confession before receiving Communion. Indeed my Grandmother attended daily Mass at 7am and I am certain she didn't go to confession every day.

If one does not believe in the real presence which the Church believes and presents it as such, then why would one receive it. then it would be saying, i am receiving it in the way I want to receive it and not in the way Christ intended. So that would be focused on what one wants to do , which would not be in the proper spirit to receive Jesus.

From my perspective as a priest in the Episcopal Church- this Roman Catholic discipline represents an understanding of Eucharist as “a sign of unity.” Our Anglican sense is that the Eucharist is “a means of unity.” The power of the sacrament ought to help bring us in relationship and reconciliation with one another. What unites us is not not that we agree on such issues as papal authority and prayer to the Blessed Mother, but rather that we are sisters and brothers in Christ who welcome us all.

One interesting thing is that only about one third of Catholics believe in literal transubstantiation. Most believe in the Christ's holy presence during communion, which is compatible with Anglican beliefs and with those if other Christian denominations.

We are all Christians. It is sad that religious leaders choose to remain divided.

Ouch ouch and ouch. The eternal PAIN and reopening wound whenever I get Christians of other churches (who DO believe the bread and wine are transformed into the BODY & BLOOD of Christ) to join a Catholic Mass, one time I cried like a baby when Christians of all churches (as long as they are baptized) were invited to the table to take the Holy Communion in an Anglican church. I asked both Catholic and Anglican priests every now and then but didn't get a satisfying answer, it seems to me we human corrupted the Sacrament of Communion just like how we corrupt every philosophy and religion.
Are we talking about communion with the Roman Catholic Church or Communion with God???????? Who are we, ordained or not, to reject people who in need of Jesus if the church regards the Holy Communion the medicine for patients? It is sooooooooooooooo sad to see the Holy Communion becomes the trigger of SEPARATION.

      Just a reminder.
The Catholic Church is the ONLY Church that Our Lord Jesus Himself established.
It is the ONLY Church in which the bread and wine are changed into the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ.
When you went to your Anglican service the Communion there consisted of bread and wine, because the minister had no authority to Consecrate it and thus effect the Transubstantiation.
Therefore, it really doesn't matter what anyone believes, there is no Sacrament.
If at that service, any Catholic had gone up to receive communion, and said "AMEN" when the minister held up the bread and said "Body of Christ", that would be an act of idolatry.

the sacrament as medicine. that sounds a little better. When I was first introduced to the Catholic church in the early 70´s (I was an Anglican) I attended mass daily for some months before I was received into the church and my mentor Father Edward who, although a monk, was at that time the resident chaplain at my college, never once refused me communion. This policy of the church strikes me as profoundly disingenuous. This is a gift freely given to us by God and no institution has the right to make judgements about those to whom He offers Himself. At the last supper, did the disciples understand what Jesus was offering them when He said Take this and eat? Do we? I have no doubt about the absolutel importance of thise sacrament but anyone who is willing to join that line of people shuffling up to receive should be allowed to do so. The rest is in God´s hands and I know many priests feel this deeply.

The Eastern Orthodox church has a serious quarrel with the Catholics, dating back to the sack of Constantinople by the crusaders in 1204. One would expect that fellow Christians would at least respect the churches, but no, apart from the killing, raping and stealing of art, even liturgical object were removed from the churches and are now in catholic churches, not used, since it is not allowed, but displayed as loot.
Later on, when Constantinople asked the western monarchies for help in fending off the Ottomans, Rome responded that help would arrive only on the condition that the Orthodox church recognized the supremacy or the Catholics. The result of that was the fall of Constantinople in 1453.
The Catholic church has apologized twice for the sack of 1204, and the apology was accepted by the Orthodoc church. It is a fact though, that the sack of 1204 and the subsequent division of the territory of the Byzantine empire among the western monarchies made it impossible for the empire to recover and get reorganized fast enough to face the Ottomans, with the known consequences. And even then, help was offered on the condition of submission. So, members of the Eastern Church might be in the right to hold a grudge. Just sayin'.

(1Co 11:26) For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
(1Co 11:27) Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
(1Co 11:28) But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
(1Co 11:29) For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
Sinners should not eat of the bread, it is for the righteous in Christ.

My dad is Catholic and my mom is protestant, and me and my siblings were raised Catholic. The akwarnedess of my mom not being able to receive communion has been present every time my mom has gone with us to mass

Brother Casey is now Father Casey - It is indeed wonderful to have a priest among the Lord's flock, who is so interesting and explains our faith very very clearly.

I'm both humbled and relieved to receive the eucharist. Every time.

I was raised a Catholic and became a Protestant (Lutheran) at 25 years old.
Converting from catholicism to protestantism I of course learned about the differences between the two (I read up on it and spoke to the Lutheran minister who of course wanted me to be absolutely aware and sure of what I was doing).
That being said - I have conflicting emotions on celebrating the communion. On the one hand I understand that catholics have a very specific way of looking at the communion and I get that it's important to them that someone taking part in the Eucharist is fully aware of what is happening. On the other hand I also think that even the majority of catholics do NOT understand what transsubstentiation is and in fact do see the Eucharist as a symbolic act. Just as a reminder: that's an even more lenient view than Lutherans have (for whom it is not just a symbolic act). What about those Catholics?
Also I really have to say I am angry by your paternalistic approach. What you're saying translates (to me) as "my reading of this is right, yours is wrong, you just don't understand it and like an ignorant child I will ,protect' you from doing something if you don't understand the consequences of your actions". Father, we do understand how the Catholic church sees it. It is really so unimaginable to you, that even though we do understand we have a different understand? That doesn't mean "now give me my communion" ;-). But it means "at least treat me like a rational, intelligent adult". In other words "Ok. You have a different interpretation of this. The consequence will be that you don't receive the Eucharist in a catholic church". Please. Treat me like the grown-up that I am. As a grown-up I can live with the consequences of my actions (choosing a certain interpretation of the Eucharist). What I cannot and will not live with is being treated like a foolish child

I was raised in the Lutheran Church...I'm more agnostic now...still open to being convinced...but...🤷‍♂️ in any case, I've always been interested in theology, and philosophy. I agree with you that the Catholic Church is too paternalistic. They seem to rely on the magisterium a bit too much. While the Lutheran Church definitely has lots of Catholic vibes to it, the papacy is definitely a problem I'm glad we don't have to deal with. There's no proof of continuity back to St. Peter...things get fuzzy in the 2nd and 3rd century because keeping good records wasn't a smart idea when Christianity was illegal. 🤷‍♂️😁 I suspect many of those popes were legendary, not literal...🤔 so the laying of hands to pass authority from Bishop to Bishop is...eh, kind of on shaky ground. Not to mention, there were anti-popes. Who was legitimate? Did authority pass through them as well? What about orthodox Christians...they couldn't share the eucharist, now some may...🤷‍♂️ sounds arbitrary...yeah, it's all in the name of temporal politics. It has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus...while he did say Peter was the rock, he didn't say anything else about anyone else...🤷‍♂️ if I loan you the keys to my house, it doesn't mean you can pass them around to 1,000 of your closest friends. Yeah, maybe I am just too Lutheran in the way I think...🤔 I just have serious problems with Roman Catholic theology...its interesting, no doubt...but depends too much on the magisterium's opinion.

I don’t think anyone other than yourself, is treating you or anybody like a foolish child 😅❤
On the flip side, I’m the sinner who didn’t know what I was doing but being baptised at birth, I was taking communion at age 10
But at my silly age 10, think I knew what I was doing? 😂
Now I’m age 37, and from this UA-cam video i understand more of what I’m doing 🤣cos I admit, my family isn’t strong/patience (whatever the sin-excuse) I was never “man-splained” this.
I always did feel really surreal when I do take a piece of the holy Eucharist tho. And I cannot stop being thankful I was allowed to be baptised at birth. Going through sacrament of holy communion and reconciliation at age 10…then confirmation at age 16. left after that cos I thought I’d graduated church” and now….amazed at my silliness…and doing what I can to continue humbling myself as I practise being catholic.

Dearest Fr Casey( congrats on your ordination and the BEAUTIFUL video you did on the day) may your days be plentiful and filled with the joy of service and obedience to Christ). I feel drawn to post this for others who like me came from the Roman rite, but have chosen a different path that it was this ONE thing which drove me from the faith of my family. Transubstantiation and the exclusion of other Christians was a bridge too far for me. Our family tradition is to care for our elderly at home rather than placing them somewhere. So my great grandmother lived with us and died in our home. Because of her frail health our local parish priest came to our home every Friday to say Mass and give her communion. For a while, the junior priest at our church was this dreamy looking adorable Father from Ireland. He came for my great gran but he loved children (and a good single malt) and would stay after to have a drink with my Mom and talk to us (most of my siblings at this point were teens as my Mom had five children in six years. At one point he pulled me aside and said you really seem to be struggling and I laid it all out for him. He said something to me which stuck like glue in my mind for the next 50 plus years. He said of course I want you to stay in the Church, I believe it the true church and the true communion, but if your choice is to find a path to keep God in the center of your life or walking in darkness then by all means follow the light lass and perhaps the path leads back. While that never happened, after that I was only in a Catholic Church 8 times in my adult lives 5 funerals, 1 wedding, once to show my Presbyterian daughters the Latin rite and .... once to light a candle and pray for divine help and healing on 9/11. That’s it. All over communion. I do not wish to launch into a drawn out theological debate over this - I am DEEPLY aware of the beliefs on both sides. Perhaps I would have wandered away any way, but I doubt I would have stayed away. I never disrespect the beliefs of 95 percent of my family and they respect me while lighting candles and praying for my return. I cannot overstate your importance here on the internet, you remind me so much of Fr Daly all those years ago who reached out in peace and love and understanding perhaps it’s not a coincidence he was a Franciscan
