Taking something from the food cart is just rude period. The other reasons just making it worse if you happen to do this. It would probably be the equivalent to grabbing the plate from the wait staff at a restaurant when they arrive to bring you your food.
For the extra items you can use on the plane (pillows, blankets and in some cases, headphones) it's best to just bring these yourself and use your own. At least that way you know t hat it's clean and has been cleaned. However this being said, I'm sure they factor in that half the blankets and pillows loaned out on planes may become damaged or lost (stolen, etc) and they factor this into the pricing, so accidentally taking one just means the airline probably "lost" $5 but no big deal (but again, I'm not saying you should take these items or promoting stealing, just that they know that over time they disappear or need to be discarded and plan as such). Same for hotel rooms as it relates to things like soaps and shampoos (which people often take although many now are using the built-in dispensers to discourage this).
My favorite (and I think you may have mentioned it once or twice in previous videos) was when a pilot on a Delta flight made a comment that "his panel indicates that not all seatbelts are fastened" and that we couldn't push back from the gate until theywere" and you hear like a dozen clicks and then he's like "thank you" (even though this was all a lie and he was just checking/reminding people).

Regulations may varying in different countries, but in BC Canada where I live, since covid, even unused hotel soaps and other complementary items must be discarded. A Victoria charity called Soap for Hope now collects those empties, sanitizes and refills them for distribution to the homeless, women's shelters and the like. These they distribute these in our province as well as Alberta, the one next door. They also handle other items the hotel industry must refresh over time like linens and discard such as lost and found stuff, thus keeping tons of high quality useable goods out of the landfill. An amazing model that ought to be adopted in many more places.

Thanks Megan - great advice, as always. One that I can add: Ensure your water bottle is secure before takeoff. My last flight, it came loose from my backpack pocket and flew down the aisle to the back of the plane with a clanging noice (it's metal). Obviously, I had to wait until the seatbelt sign was off after take-off. I got up and asked if anyone had seen it. One man indicated he had tried to catch it as it flew by but missed. The flight attendant at the back had it and gave it back to me. Luckily, it had not hit any people. Needless to say, it was INSIDE the backpack on the way home. Although it's the first time that had ever happened and I have used the same backpack for travel for years, I am now wary of having the bottle just in the backpack side pocket on takeoff!

I am an aisle person and I always speak to the person sitting next to me. If we're going to be best friends for the next 4 hours, it's nice to at least be able to make polite conversation.
And yes. I have had 2 DVTs. That is why I choose an aisle seat. I always get up and walk around at least once an hour, per my doctor's advice. If the seat belt sign is on, I can stretch my leg a little bit more than if i were in a window seat.

About the getting up during a flight! I recently had a flight where I was in the window seat with an obese individual in the middle and an older gentleman on the end. I was so smooshed in I couldn’t move the whole flight and ended up with major pain after. The large guy kept falling asleep on me and I am a thiner person that hates confrontation so I basically endured. Luckily this was the shorter leg on a longer flight and the second leg ( longer part) I had a middle seat open but I was in so much discomfort I was miserable the entire 7 hours. Honestly I think if it were to happen again I wouldn’t hesitate to see if I could get another seat. In fact after that I changed all my return seats to the aisle and will never pick a window or middle seat again. One thing I learned about having the aisle seat is I basically get up whenever I darn well feel like it and don’t have to bother anyone 😂😂

I'm usually on shorts flights, but even then I'm trying to exercise my legs, bouncing them up and down, stretching, flexing them, whatever it takes to keep them moving and feeling ok. If it was a long flight I'd seriously consider getting and walking down the aisle. I'm a stickler when it comes to the seatbelt, it's on and clipped as long as I'm on the plane. I don't want to be one of those hitting the ceiling that you always hear about when a plane hits unexpected turbulence. Nice video, all good points!

Was wearing a groove in the sky between US and UK for a couple of decades-saw allsorts of strange behaviour-haha!!!Used to fly the same route regularly so became somewhat friendly with flight crew(s)-would bring them gifts(flowers/chocolate etc)-Anyway -was leaving for UK
one evening out of Detroit to London .purchased some Gadiva Chocolate bars for flight crew.
And yes I'm very aware of Customs regulations, mattters of Soverinety and flight crew accepting food items/gifts from passengers etc.Gave a couple of bars to flight attendants in my cabin(Coach that nite)-They left then on the galley counter for later-BINGO passenger took them anyway!!!EVEN IN FIRST CLASS WE DID NOT SERVE CHOCOLATE OF THIS QUALITY-
    I gave them more -enjoy

In May, my wife and I will be flying from Boston to London in May. I'm 62 years old. My kidney doc (I only have one kidney) and oncologist highly recommended compression socks for me. I'm a bit overweight also. 5'7 265 lbs. I'm going to try and get an aisle seat if possible and get up as much as possible during the flight. The flight is approximately 6.5 hours from Boston's Logan International Airport to London's Heathrow.

Hi Megan, great tips as always. It’s really amazing the things that passengers do and think they’re OK doing them. My biggest pet peeve is people who use the seat back pocket for a trash can, just disgusting. OK, I have another, I was on a flight from Seoul to NYC and the condition of the plane as I deplaned in NYC was unbelievable, you would’ve thought a tornado came through. There were blankets and eye-masks and pillows and garbage all over the floor. Makes you wonder what these people’s homes looked like. Well, that’s my rant for today. Have a wonderful day 🤗

In regards to the last tip, also something that I wish more people thought of is to wear compression stockings when flying. Even if for a short flight. This tip came from a very well known world renowned doctor. Ever since whether my flight is an hour or 14 hours, I am sure to wear compression socks when I fly as well as be sure to get up and walk and flex my feet doing the abc's to also help the blood flow.

No I do not say hi to seat mate. Best that way just in case they happen to be talkative. I like it quiet. What about-never pull on the seat in front of you to get up., Never tap on the touch screen on the seat back like a wood pecker, never touch others bags while rumbling through the overhead, never plow through the back seat pocket in front of you (passenger in seat can feel it). for large people, never walk wide, meaning walk sideways through the aisle.

    1. Don't pack or unpack your luggage while getting on or off the plane.
    2. When exiting the plane, don't wait for people in front who are still seated and not ready to exit - just keep going.
    3. This one should be obvious by now: Don't make any jokes about bombs or weapons.

so, funny story, I was going on a Frontier flight and our plane was delayed as the plane we were supposed to be on got stuck in New York (I was in Orlando) and they finally got a reserve plane ready to go for our flight to St. Louis. So I get my new ticket and it turns out, I am in the front seat, and as I am walking down the corridor I say "I'm riding shotgun" and then realize the 2nd time I say that that saying "gun" in any context is a BIG NO NO on a plane. Luckily no one commented, no one questioned me about it, and I got to St. Louis OK but still, it was a bit embarrassing thinking back on it on something that COULD have gotten me into some serious trouble if someone heard me say that out of context (where someone thought I might have a "shotgun" as opposed to me just referring to having the front seat).

On overseas flights they generally run out of liquor for coach within the first half hour of a 13 hour flight. I always carry a couple of my own. As long as you don’t get drunk they pretend they didn’t notice. It may be illegal, but the cheap airlines should provide the service they charge extra for in comfort seats instead of vilifying the passengers.

One thing I found in the seat pocket was a used airsick bag. Not pleasant. One fun fact is that after the smoking ban, airlines turned up air re-cycling. [This is not an "argument for smoking on planes! ]. This means that now far less fresh, filtered and air-conditioned air is injected into the cabin. It saves energy. Adult humans emit digestive gases at the average rate of 2 liters per day. On a long-haul flight that has 400 passengers, that means about 800 liters of fart can be breathed in, most of it before it was processed by the filters and air conditioning. The effect is more noticeable in "Sardine Class" especially if there is a baby or a vomiting passenger close by. And of course, the joys of some "perfect" child kicking the back of your seat for entertainment. Economy seats are designed for spinal torture. The "romance" of air travel, you have gotta love it! :-)

Many of these on-board rules were frequently winked-at in the past, but since 9/11 airlines have gone troopship on us PAX and will call ahead for "escort" on deplaning with little provocation. I like Megan's idea about establishing a friendly contact with seatmates. You don't have to become their BFF, but a quick hello and two-sentence intro can get you a lot more common courtesy during the flight. I can't imagine thinking it's OK to finger an airline blanket, and leave the seatbelt on - I have been in "elevator" turbulence on flights that even left the Captain coming back on the PA with a quiver in his voice (South China Sea is really bad about this). Accept the idea that you need to smile, stay seated and behave on the plane - you're in close quarters in public and in very controlled environment, not home on your couch. For most people, this isn't a problem ...

Another " Don't do " is yoga, in 2017 I was on a flight to Dubai from Australia when a woman decided to do her morning yoga routine blocking the isle and would not allow anyone to pass to use the toilet.
After many threats by the aircrew she returned to her seat.
I know people have a routine they follow everyday but 1 day of no yoga won't kill her.
